For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

is it dinner time?

I am STARVING

LullyOfShallot · 11/07/2008 17:18

Yum cake sounds good

We went for a bike ride between showers & discovered a huge patch of wild strawberries in a twitting.

When we came back the cat belonging to the old lady three doors away waslying in the drive.Ds was delighted & said 'I knew it,I knew my notice would work'
He ran upstairs & brought down one of his toy mice from his treasured collection & presented it to the cat.We then had to frogmarch said cat back to the old lady & explain that he had one a very special prize & in fact the whole cat show.

she was very sweet

I then managed to spill the entire contents of the bin bag all down our staircase as it burst.

The stairs smell like curry & bananas now.

FrayedKnot · 11/07/2008 17:30

Hullo all

I did lurk earlier from work but I sit ina corridor and every passing person can see what I'm doing, so didn;t have time to post...

I am totally clueless about cricket but can appreciate muscles through a shirt any day.

The cat show was a lovely idea LL

Sorry about the non-rain

Pasta with veg sauce and broccoli for supper

Am paying the price for the apricots I ate earlier

Boco · 11/07/2008 17:31

The cat show sounds very good, and I loved the sign. The old lady must have been very proud.

I don't get cricket at all, it's just a stupefying noise, a kind of hum that sends me to sleep. I used to loathe it because my dad would listen all the time, standing up, while we begged to go out.

The perverse midwives last night made much more sense than all that innings stuff.

filthymindedvixen · 11/07/2008 17:34

right, you may have your baby tomorrow if you promise not to make it an exciting on-line, blow by blow account as I will be standing in a muddy field all day in the pissing rain watching bands. Speak to you all Sunday x

filthymindedvixen · 11/07/2008 17:35

I would only appreciate cricket if I was involved in eating the lovely teas afterwards....

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 17:40

yes let's do perverse midwives again tonight and I can be in it

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 17:42

the cat show is fantastic
I think you should have it every day Lully
ds puts notices on the door a LOT
luckily he can't write

red cabbage, carrots, raisins and seeds in a coleslaw; sweetcorn

MehgaLegs · 11/07/2008 17:45

Just popped in to see how franny is doing. five years ago today I was standing in the field behind our house, watching the Red arrows fly over and trying to ignore my contractions. DS3 will be 5 in the morning. Thinking of that made me think of you - hope it's soon. x

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 17:51

hello Mehga! thank you

LullyOfShallot · 11/07/2008 18:09

Yes he is now painting 'sort of badges' with different coloured cats on.Apparantly we have to be on cat duty everyday & award badges as the cats appear.
Ds says when he goes to big school unfortunately I will have to do all this myself

I did mention that I wasn't sure there were that many different coloured cats in the area,ds told me not to worry as today's winning cat would tell all his friends & then they would all want to come for a prize.

roasted veg,brown rice,rocket,spinach,watercress
rhubarb ice cream

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 18:20

oh I love ds Lully
tell him I will help with the cat badges when he is at big school

UnderRated · 11/07/2008 18:22

Toot, I think A&E on Monday is not OTT. A 6yr shouldn't have to wait indefineitly when he can't see properly. It isn't life threatening but I do think it is urgent. Am sure optician will be ok though

Glad you made a decision re Kindergartens, Bero

LOL @ Lully's DS & the cat show

I never watched cricket when I was in England which was silly because I lived near Headingley for a while. I miss it though. And Wimbledon too. There is something so English about cricket and Tennis.

What kind of pie, OB?

I have a problem. My apartment is too small. It is essentially a large bedsit but with a huge closet that DS and I sleep in (in my bed). I have been offered a 1 bedroom place 2 floors down for about $30 extra a month. Since I can't afford my current place, another $30 seems neither here nor there. But, new place will mean:

Darker apartment (which may have a big effect on my mood)
Will be overlooked - I currently have views of the city skyline & trees and am above all other buildings
Living next to Elevator Man (who works nights and may not appreciate DS's tantrums during the day)
Not as good kitchen

But will have:
More space
DS could have his own bed
Storage
No rent increases

What would you do? I have to make a decision by the end of the day. Argh.

Um, beans, mushrooms. Nothing else yet but went to the greengrocers so am stocked up.

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 18:24

oh the badge thing reminds me, when we were out, ds found a badge on the ground and wanted to keep it
I didn't think this was a big problem (was having conversation with another woman and not paying much attention tbh) and told him when he asked that it said "born to rock"

only half way through telling him I realised it actually said "born to fuck"

and he was putting it in his pocket
and I said to the woman "thank god he doesn't want to wear it"
at which case of course ds took it out and put it on
and a mildly frenzied battle went on for the next 5 mins until I was able to gain possession of said badge
not easy when you are planet sized and he is quite nippy on his feet

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 18:26

UR I think if you are basically satisfied in your current flat then I would stay there
it seems like a case of better the devil you know - the things you mention in the other flat could really end up being miserable - the lack of light, lack of privacy and grumpy neighbour sounds like a bad combination tbh

pinkspottywellies · 11/07/2008 18:37

Def go to A&E TooT, if they have advised you they obviously think it's serious enough but can't refer you any other way.

UR agree with Franny about the flat.

Glad I went to bed before the whole midwife thing. You're all mad and I love you for it

Love the cat show Lully!

I've got a stew in the slow cooker but it's a bit slower than I hoped and it's all still rock hard. I think we'll have to have takeaway!

UnderRated · 11/07/2008 18:42

Ok, I think you may be right about the flats. I will prbably stay put. Light is really important to me and I have no desire to look into someone else's living room all day. I just feel bad that we are so cramped and I can never invite anyone round in the evenings.

LOL @ the badge thing. I am not sure how i would have handled it but am sure wrestling would have come in to it.

LullyOfShallot · 11/07/2008 18:58

Oh dear the badge thing has made we weep with laughter

UR..I think considering all I would stay put.
Light v important & dont like the idea of you living next to creepy man.
the stairs here are a pain but I love looking out at the trees.
The views from the Turret are amazing as it has windows on three sides.

LullyOfShallot · 11/07/2008 19:00

Ds is most appreciative of offer to help with the badges
He has just asked me how to spell Franny & is v solemnly making you list .

UnderRated · 11/07/2008 19:12

OOo, a list for Franny?

Lully, do you live in a castle? Sounds lovely with all the trees but stairs are a huge pain, especially with a small child in tow.

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 19:36

I like lists
this probably doesn't surprise anyone

Guadalupe · 11/07/2008 19:41

I like a list too

I am shockingly disorganised but every so often I lke to list things and feel like a grown up. Mostly I am waiting to grow up.

littlerach · 11/07/2008 19:48

Lully where do you live? it sounds intriging.

Out at lunch time, then a takeaway curry tonigh

So lets not count F&V today.

I have notebooks fo rlists, and different ones fo rdiffernet things.
I ma keeping a list of books I have read this year.

Votes????

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 19:50
