For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I would go as well, Toot, they have suggested it and if it reassures him then that's very helpful. I know what you mean about A&E but sometimes that's the only way to go through.

Guadalupe · 11/07/2008 12:31

I am having ryvitas for lunch. Again.

I would like a pie, but maybe a goats cheese and sundried tomato tart would be better.

OsmosisBanana · 11/07/2008 12:45

Mmmm........ Pie....... Now by buttons are gaping in an unseemly manner. And I am rather red. I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.

Boco · 11/07/2008 13:00

I think I would take him too Toot, if he's saying things are getting worse and that his good eye is suffering it needs to be looked at sooner rather than later. I know that a&e sounds serious and medical emergency-ish, but they aren't going to think you're over reacting, it will make you both feel better to be looked at sooner won't it?

Good luck.

LullyOfShallot · 11/07/2008 13:06

Oh poor ds Toot
Taking him is a v good idea I think.

Ds wants to have a cat show
I explained that there was a slight problem in that we have no cats
Ds has now made a sign covered in pictures of cats with PLEES BRIN YOR CATS HEER PLEES

TooTicky · 11/07/2008 14:37

Oh dear and now I have erred on the side of caution and made an appointment with the optician. For Monday.
Oh dear, I just don't know.
I mean, things are expected to get worse anyway because of the cataract

OB, will certainly let you know when I will next be in Bristol or Bath.

Lully, love the cat show notices! Would you like to borrow a cat?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 11/07/2008 14:40

TF, the eye clinic at this particular hospital is so busy that they often don't have appointments, emergency or otherwise. When he have had to go before, they have often said, Well come in at this time and we will fit you in. We can't give you an appointment because there aren't any.

TooTicky · 11/07/2008 14:41

Franny is Noticeably Absent. Do you suppose she's up to something?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 11/07/2008 14:43

And I think the hospital people were just being nice when they said I could bring him in.
Sorry!! Will talk about something else now

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 14:46

I was Up To walking round town with a tired 5 year old wearing waterproof trousers with my back aching fit to bust

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 14:46
TigerFeet · 11/07/2008 14:51

If you decide to take him to A&E Toot you can always cancel the optician. Poor little boy and poor you, it must be so difficult to see him struggling

Lully, would your ds like my cat? He's a scraggy old moggy who is excessively child friendly and lovely but he does have a habit of biting people's toes when he's hungry and he keeps being sick on the carpet.

OB I hope you bought enough pie to share with everyone. I want to live near a pie shop called PieMinister. I do love a nice pie.

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 14:56

LOL at plees brin yor cats

TooT I would absolutely take him to A+E if I was told i could
I think optician is also a sensible plan

ds is gutted, it keeps not raining
I bought him new waterproof trousers and he is lovingly wearing them everywhere in blazing sunshine "in case I have to make a run for it"
and it was dry all morning and we got home and he took them off and it started pissing down
and he ran to put them on and it has stopped again
poor sod

People are now greeting me with hoots of laughter at the size and shape of my comedy bump
I may set up a tent and start charging admission
'come and see the funny overdue lady'

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 14:56

oh beetroot salad

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 14:57

oh we went to LLL and held a friends lovely big fat baby and ds was SO sweet with her and wanted her to sit on his lap and said "no she doesn't want to go to you" when I tried to take her back, and she didn't, she wanted to sit on ds and grab his nose and he let her

TigerFeet · 11/07/2008 15:06

Franny if ds wants rain then send him up here - it's currently pissing down like it's never pissed down before. How lovely and how heartening for you that he was so good with the baby .

I do like extremely heavy rain and thunderstorms. DD and I go out and splash around. When I lived in Blackpool I used to go down to the seafront when it was stormy and watch the waves crash over the sea wall. From a safeish distance.

TooTicky · 11/07/2008 15:09

Oh dear, you would all go to A&E, wouldn't you?

Franny, ds is going to make a splendid big brother
Perhaps he will join ds2 in his chosen profession of Baby Cheerer-Upper

OP posts:
TooTicky · 11/07/2008 15:11

Am sending you rain vibes. It is very onny and offy here. A while ago it was almost dark and positively lashing it down, now it is sunny and the dcs are outside squirting each other with water
Do you have a water squirter? Could you squirt at ds and his trousers?

OP posts:
OsmosisBanana · 11/07/2008 15:12

Nope. Pie just for me. Already dished out chickpea curry.

Am making complicated spinach, ricotta and filo triangular parcel things later.

I expect I shall fly into a rage and it will turn into spanneredkopita.

2 days so far with no booze. Tonight will be the acid test though. Criminal Minds / QI / 8 out of 10 cats and all sorts of other shite I love end up watching is, which I probably will hate sober and then will have to go off and do something productive.

TooTicky · 11/07/2008 15:13

Ds2 doesn't appear to be actually struggling with anything atm.
Right, I will STOP talking about it and just worry quietly about what I should or shouldn't do I think.
Thank you all for your patience

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 11/07/2008 15:18

Worry out loud TooT, we don't mind

I like the water squirter idea. Or perhaps a garden hose?

OB you are meeeaaaaannn. I like drinking on a Friday night. You watch the same stiff I do. Drinking improves the experience imo. Have you given up completely? Apols for being insensitive if so.

OsmosisBanana · 11/07/2008 15:25

No. I don't want to give up at all. I am on a diet. I would rather give up eating, which I tried for some time and just stuck to the lager diet but that failed me. For the first time since I was 21.

So I have now decided to actually do what I have been saying I am going to do for ages and stop drinking and watch the weight miraculously melt away. Tell me it will. Tell me. Either that or it's 3 weeks of misery for nowt.

OsmosisBanana · 11/07/2008 15:27

TF- I love Criminal Minds. Do you watch that too? I wasn't sure when they took whasisface away but now I prefer new boss.

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2008 15:33

I can;t squirt or do anything
I am not moving from this spot until I am fed and watered and have sat with my feet up for several hours
teenage babysitter was meant to be coming but has cancelled 'due to personal problems'
so dp is reading stories instead

TigerFeet · 11/07/2008 15:34

I don't watch Criminal Minds, no. I take it I should do though
