For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Avi, don't! She will collapse on the spot if we make her wait that long.

TooTicky · 01/07/2008 23:00

Thanks

TooTicky · 01/07/2008 23:03

I'm taking a cake to toddler group tomorrow, as is the custom, and although I know most people are not as judgemental as me, I shall be struggling not to blurt out that the icing is Coloured Only With Raspberries, and that the chocolate beans are Vegan, Ethically Produced and Naturally Coloured.

Tatties · 01/07/2008 23:07

Just popping in to say night night

Wow TooT the cake is fantastic! And children gorgeous

TooTicky · 01/07/2008 23:13

Night Tatties

womblingalong · 02/07/2008 00:00

fab cake TooT,v clever of you to use raspberries. Happy birthday to all for today/tomorrow. Night all.

UnderRated · 02/07/2008 01:03

Fabulous cake, Toot. I want to know how you made the icing. And the cake actually. Your children are gorgeous.

My teeth are ok, I just still have a wisdom tooth coming through. It's been over 6 months now. It hurts. A lot. I should not be teething at 30.

I need to make something to take to 4th of July Dinner at BF's (not sure what to call him but Man seems silly) but I have no idea what. They are having a bbq. With meat. I hate having to take something because I am useless and generally only bake for others, not make real food.

DS was nicer today but didn't see his father. I wonder how much that has to do with it?

Beans, grapes (2), raisins, apricots, cranberries

Greensleeves · 02/07/2008 01:07

Hello 10/10ers

I am very out of touch with this thread (and with MN, and with vegetation generally) can I come back in as a prodigal lard-ass who needs to eat more fruit 'n' veg?

I did eat rocket, banana, apple and....and... um...vanilla today

And I will start by saying what a SHIT thread title this is, when she has at leat ten of mine lying idle

UnderRated · 02/07/2008 01:14

Wombling, did you see the time you posted? I like it. I have a thing about satisfying times on the clock

UnderRated · 02/07/2008 01:20

Hello Greensleeves. You made me laugh.

FrannyandZooey · 02/07/2008 08:34

Greeny you are a rude old besom and can stand in the corner while we CONSIDER your application

right ds is poorly again. the nasty probably contagious kind. This is bad news as it means no-one except me and dp are going to be able to look after him for....who knows. 48 hours at least. So I really, really, really need NOT to have the baby now. Ok? Everyone think of things CLOSING, very tightly. Preferably locking. And being bolted. Thank you

Oh dear what's wrong with Ds franny?

I'm having a spectacularly BAD morning so far.
The cat is ill - she's been very ill, everywhere. She seems to be choking on something all the time, can't meouw. Dp said do not call the vet as we have no insurance or money so can't afford vets bill, but the cat is ILL. And I have to sort out the result of it.

And then after a very very hurried hectic fighty morning - was hurrying to school with dd and a vans sped past and hit me with the wing mirror, luckily only on my upper arm, but very hard and knocked me forwards into a hedge! Have big bruise and swollen arm. And the shock of it made me all teary.

And then got to school and found that the woman who called us gyppos - who I fell out with over the b'day table, the mother of the girl fighting with dd - is standing for parent governor! There's only one other candidate, a headmaster who has just moved here and knows no one and has never even been to the school.

And I have a driving lesson this afternoon.

I think that are my main complaints with the day so far.

pinkspottywellies · 02/07/2008 09:27

Greeny, vanilla ice-cream is not a portion

Banana, apple, orange juice, dried apricots.

pinkspottywellies · 02/07/2008 09:31

Oh Boco what a crappy day. Can you go back to bed and start again!?

Right. You need to put yourself forward for parent governer. The other mother won't get it because she's mental and rude. Your driving lesson this afternoon will be brilliant. It will all fall into place and you'll wonder what you ever worried about. The cat will hack up a huge hair ball and be fine.

Boco · 02/07/2008 09:35

I don't think I want to do parent governing when after bad school experiences - think it's best, but I want someone non-evil to get it.

HOpe you're right about the cat - it's been 24 hours and she's no better.

TigerFeet · 02/07/2008 10:17

Boco what a shitty morning. Do you have a PDSA or similar thing near you that'll look at your cat for free/reduced rates? Gah to the evil woman becoming a governor.

littlerach · 02/07/2008 11:22

Has the cat got furballs?

Ours does that manic coughing, wheeezing thing when he has them, it's horrid.

FrannyandZooey · 02/07/2008 11:44

I think maybe ds has hairballs too
he seems better after a long sleep anyway
but aaargh cannot go out to garden cafe with friends as we usually do on a Wed, in case is catching

all this illness and togetherness is a bit ruddy wearing tbh

the person who has those tickets for the festival has not been back to the thread and not contacted me so I don't think we can go after all [big disappointment]

TooTicky · 02/07/2008 12:09

Oh no Boco! What a pile of poo
Can you go to bed with some cake or something?
at van driver!

UR, I am teething at 32. It seems to go in phases.

The icing was just sieved raspberries with icing sugar
Don't use too many raspberries or you will be there for ages mixing in icing sugar and waiting for it to thicken.

Franny, how about some self-adhesive velcro? A zip would be more secure but awkward to attach.

FrannyandZooey · 02/07/2008 12:25

Boco SOMEBODY else needs to stand as parent g
can you blackmail a friend into doing it?
