For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

MMMmmmmmmmmm Bero, your lunch sounds absolutely divine

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 14:45

I shall impart my wisdom when you come back

LullyOfShallot · 06/07/2008 14:47

franny have just caught up with thread
ds's poem was so lovely
I asked ds what he would have said for gentle & he said as gentle as a gentleman

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 14:49

at gentle as a gentleman - lovely!

Ds1 wrote a beautiful poem when he was 6. I was going to post it the other day but he caught me. Will try and sneak it on later....

LullyOfShallot · 06/07/2008 14:50

Ugggggjhhhhhh at sports days too

Ds has his in a weeks time, combined with big picnic.
I was never the sporty type, loathed competitive stuff
dh is brilliant at most sports & very athletic...ds is not following in his footsteps & he has inherited my legs..poor child.
He is expecting to win everything because he is soooooo fast & sooooooo strong...ahem ...there may be trouble ahead methinks

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 14:54

arternoon

all is well now except the boys have planned a BBQ on the firepit as a 'surprise' (ds thinks I don't know but dp quite rightly knows surprises would NOT go down too well at present )
and it is pissing it down
same thing happened last time we tried to BBQ anything!

had a nice lunch though: lettuce FROM THE GARDEN, tomato, cucumber, rocket, and watercress salad
with cheese and crackers and pesto rice and black eyed beans and bits and bobs. Lovely.

I have cleaned out 3 handbags and donated the usable contents to ds. He is extremely pleased as there was emergency smarties in there (well those pretend ones called Whizzers)

have put all the baby things into the OiOi bag Lully, in case we have to go anywhere

ommmmmmmmmm
[can't remember whether am opening or closing so let's try a revolving door image]

OP posts:
TooTicky · 06/07/2008 14:56

Is the revolving door not rather uncomfortable?

And impractical.

Push! Don't push! Push! Ach, too slow! Don't push! Now, PUSH!

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 15:00

hope poorly ones are soon better
you know Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast don't you TooT? if you and she get too desperate

TooT I don't think we normally argue about suncream but we seem to be doing so this year
I know use of suncream is a bit debatable anyway
we have greenish one which is not very strong so IMO you have to put loads on
dp is slapdash and just puts a scant amount on (IMO)
resulting in ds getting a tan by early June and we haven't even had a proper summer yet
we bicker about it
today we had a very long protracted loud and forceful bicker about it
with dp being STUBBORN AS FUCK - he says I am overwrought about it and unreasonably paranoid
I said I don't care, I am a mother and I am 40 weeks pg and it is my job to be unreasonably paranoid about things and I got a bit shrieky about skin cancer
but really even if IABU I think he should just kindly humour me at this stage of the proceedings

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 15:01

revolving door just seemed rather apt atm
I don't know whether I am coming in or out or just stuck halfway round for ever and ever and ever

OP posts:
TooTicky · 06/07/2008 15:09

It feels like for ever, but it isn't. You will actually be holding a real, warm, squiggly baby very soon!

Dd2 has had a wee bit of toast. She doesn't want apple or banana, she wants crisps
And "Dad's sauce" (brown sauce from Aldi or Lidl )
She is sleeping atm and my nipples are relishing the break.

berolina · 06/07/2008 15:09

oh yes please TooT (cept I am probably off again in approx 2 mins, as that seems to be ds1's length-of-time-able-to-amuse-self-happily span atm. ds2, amazingly, asleep).

I was never sure about bananas. When I was first in Germany there was a severe gastro bug going round and bananas were touted as a wonder cure. When it felled me I was very ill. dh, then dp-of-about-2-months, sent for the emergency doctor as my blood pressure was something silly like 60/60 and he beamed and said warningly 'No bananas!', obviously feeling very clever about his English . Before sending me to hospital for rehydration.

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 15:12

I want crisps

OP posts:
TooTicky · 06/07/2008 15:15

Right. You know mickle is a Yorkshire word meaning much/many? Well, it must have come from mycket, Swedish for much/many. I was so chuffed when I realised!!
I love finding Swedish/English connections. Other languages too, but esp Swedish

Guadalupe · 06/07/2008 15:16

me too

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 15:17

at mad banana doctor

Franny, if you are going to eat crispr, please don't rustle or dd2 will hear you across the interweb and demand some.
She is bf again.

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 15:18

crisps

Guadalupe · 06/07/2008 15:19

I have crisps, salt and shake ones but I am RESISTING. I will have a tin of mackerel instead.

berolina · 06/07/2008 15:22

TooT. I love making those sorts of connections. What other Swedish/Eng connections are there?
dh home, astoundingly early. With a rose for me

Guadalupe · 06/07/2008 15:27

a rose? How nice!

Guadalupe · 06/07/2008 15:28

dh came back with some decaff coffee after I said I was craving some and I thought that was quite sweet. Though I don't know if it's a water filtered one.

LullyOfShallot · 06/07/2008 16:32

at crisps,roses & coffee

dh mended the hoover

filthymindedvixen · 06/07/2008 16:33

will read catch-up thread later - so very tired, dirty and hungry...but still grinning from ear to ear after a fabulous festy weekend! I am proper filthy
I heart my Bongo.

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 17:09

I haven't GOT crisps
I just want them
dp had to go for a nap after getting grumpier and grumpier, poor git
ds and I decorated my bump with face paints which was probably the most fun I have had all week

they are trying to light the BBQ as rain has stopped, but dp says it is too windy and we will set the garden alight
oh bring it on I say [bored]

OP posts:
FrayedKnot · 06/07/2008 17:45

I am soggy

My wellies have sprung a leak

I am cooking a roast

Franny get DP in and tell himt to do a roast

You can just play with the firepit

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 17:58

oh hoorah it all worked and we quickly bunged the food on before it was properly ready so it was all lovely and charry and not really very professional at all
delicious
have come inside because was scared of breaking either deckchair or pelvis if I stayed on it any more

mushrooms, peppers, but mostly veg sausages and halloumi
