For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Morning FK. Oh dear 5.30 is too early... It is peeing down here and I wanted to go to the park

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 10:32

oof 5.30 is grim

I am having a shit day
woke up to monstrous row about sun cream with dp, which at one point culminated in him saying no he would not put any on ds and they were not going to the beach (all this in front of ds)
it finished about half an hour ago after which I gave up the effort of being reasonable and cried for about 20 mins
anyway they have gone to the beach now
I am feeling very sorry for myself in the most pathetic way
it was very hard to see them going off to have a lovely morning and here I sit feeling shit with nothing to do

yes I know you are all sick of me moaning about nothing to do and I should knit or something
I don't care, it is boring here, I am fed up of it

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 11:10

right have stopped snivelling
sorry about that
reading WMMC's thread about having to pretend NOT to be in labour for the next 4 hours until her MIL goes home has shooken me up a bit and made me realise I actually have a charmed life in comparison

am off to think serene opening / closing thoughts and eat fruit

Oh dear, it is very long and boring this end part isn't it, Franny? And everyone says make the most of it, enjoy the time to yourself and so on but you can't by this point, you just want to get on and hold the baby.

Close your eyes and have lots of chats with him/her, do all your relaxation and reading and so on.

We had a fab week. The weather was amazing and because it takes ages carring things over the muddy marsh to get to the beach there is hardly anyone there apart from the odd birdwatcher or cockle raker and it is beautiful.

You have to be careful with the tide as you can get cut off by the creeks but we go when tide is going out. This usually means you can't reach the actual sea but there are so many pools and rivers that are safer for dcs anyway. Then there are the crabbing bridges and they are great fun. I became surprisingly possesive over the crab line and made them catch them in the nets a lot. It is good fun, especially emptying them all out afterwards and watching them run back in the river waving their claws. I always make sure each one gets to eat a bit of the bait before they go in the bucket though, dh rolls his eyes.

It was hot though, we are all very brown and I feel a bit guilty I wasn't great with the suncream. It was breezy though and you forget it is still hot.

I have put on quite a bit of weight now and can't do up ANY of my trousers, I am back to wearing the jeans I bought after I had ds2, the inbetweeny maternity ones. There was a lot of local cheese and quiche eating on the beach. Hmm. There might need to be an action plan. After today though. I am making pear and marzipan cake and roast beef and yesterday we had scones that ds11 made with cream and jam so there's he reason really.

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 11:24

oh how brilliant that sounds, and nice to have you back

I thought you had lovely curvy figure when we saw you last so would maybe embrace cake for a while

grapes, apple, pear, melon, raisins = 4.5

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 06/07/2008 11:30

yes, but then I was actually wearing my jeans, it has got worse!! I either need to buy all new trousers in the next size up or cut out the cake. I have been deceived by wearing skirts the last couple of weeks, they just ride up a bit higher. Putting on your jeans when it gets colder is the test.

I was doing all sorts of strange leaping on the landing trying to pull them up a bit higher and dh and ds1 were screeching with laughter but they were stuck.

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2008 11:34

yes skirts are a bit naughty like that
I am so unbelievably clueless about how large I am actually going to be when this baby comes out
I was looking at pictures of me from what must have only been 4 months or so after ds was born, and I look quite reasonable, and in decent clothes etc
but I remember weighing myself after he was born and only having lost about 9 lb (eg the same amount he weighed ) so I am thinking I am going to be large for quite some time really

Oh Franny sorry you've had a shit morning Moan away, it's ok. I am always thinking of things I would like to do but don't have the time; then when I am occasionally blessed with a bit of time to myself, I suddenly feel like there's nothing I want to do. If you are tired and finding things a strain physically you are bound to feel fed up.

MrsC sounds like you had a lovely time

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 13:28

Good to see you MrsC. Glad you had a good time, sounds like an amazing place.

I can no longer get into the jeans that Bee gave me at the meet up.

Dd2 was ill AGAIN in the night and this morning so am starving her again, except bf, and I am feeling hollow and chewed.

Franny, hope your day is improving. Is there an issue with sun cream generally? [nosy]

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 13:30

Good luck with the crochet Tatties. I taught myself with a 1950s booklet that my grandmother lent me. I think Filly has it atm.
There are some good books available - I had a nice one from the library which was spiral bound. I may have the details somewhere - will let you know if I come across them.

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 13:31

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo hungry but can't eat in front of dd2. She clung to my legs and cried while I ate breakfast

Guadalupe · 06/07/2008 13:33

go in the cupboard and stuff cake!!

I could never do the starving thing, always let mine have rice cakes and apple

Guadalupe · 06/07/2008 13:34

I will do a picture trail thing later if you interested, haven't got the photos off the camera yet though.

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 13:38

There is no cake.

Yes, I am normally lenient but since last night was the second night of upset am thinking maybe I should dpo it properly.

Woukld love to see photos. It all sounds very Arthur Ransome.

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 13:39

I had a spam email thing from somebody called Guadalupe Sorensen - made me smile. The name, not the content.

LullyOfShallot · 06/07/2008 13:50

hello
Oh MrsC sounds like a really super week

I cannot get into any of my clothes,my body doesn't know what's going on.I lost four stone last year due to illness & chucked all large clothes & now have piled on weight due to lymphoedema, steroids & generally not doing an eighth as much exercise as I used to.
My wardrobe is full of 8/10 clothes that will never see the light of day I expect

Oh Franny
(((())))

Toot...you must eeeeeeeaaaaaattttttttt..fill your pockets with chocolate raisins & eat sneakily.

It's black as night & belting down.So far we have baked raspberry muffins, made ice cream, drawn around ds on lining paper & made a collage ,podded a zillion peas & broad beans & sorted out a huge pile of ds's clothes, shoes etc for charity shop.I have cabin fever.
Ds is painting pebbles with the names of all the children that are leaving for school this term

LullyOfShallot · 06/07/2008 13:51

ooooooooooooh yes to photos

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 13:53

Hello Lully
My, you and ds are having a productive day.
I have read stories and lactated.

LullyOfShallot · 06/07/2008 13:58

Lol Toot
You are such a lovely Mummy

Ds was promised an outing, but dh has had to work unexpectedly & it really is too grim to go anywhere on foot.

He did his concert on Friday & was a very lovely black huffy puffy bear (thankyou Boco)It really was very sweet, all the girls were flowers & the boys animals. It was a beautiful sunny day so ds roasted rather

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 14:01

Concert sounds wonderful.

We seem to have rather a lot of rain. Good for the veggies, but bad for the rather ample washing hanging sceptically in the garden.
Still, at least we have clean bedding for tonight.

We were supposed to be visiting my grandmother and meeting OB today

FrayedKnot · 06/07/2008 14:11

Hello

We were supposed to be going to the park to ride on the steam trains but rain seems to have stopped play

DS still wants to go out though so about to don the wellies and make the best of it.

LL the collage sounds a great idea! And the pebbles.

MrsC your trip sounds wonderful...children + water + mud + sunshine

TooT...yes you must smuggle something into your pockets. Nuts?

I am very practiced at eating without being noticed Biscuits in particulalr

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 14:14

Chocolate, raisins, sunflower seeds, breadsticks.

Have fun in the puddles FK

berolina · 06/07/2008 14:23

Hello all.

Poor dd, TooT
Lully, your day sounds domestically idyllic despite rain. I am in awe.

Sorry you've had a shite morning, Franny.

Your week sounds wonderful, MrsC. We had a couple of stunning beach days on our holiday. Tide out leaving wet flat sand and millions of pools, which dh and ds1 extended for hours.

dh is at a project meeting all day today. Botanic garden this morning, spelt wheat pasta with yellow courgette, home-grown mangetout, herbs, olive oil and sunflower seeds for lunch. ds1 demanding 'mama milk' (sympathies TooT ). ds2 pulled over my water cup all over me twice in sace of 15 mins. I should know by now.

ds1 just hit ds2 (who was in my arms). I should know better than to think I could have 5 mins' break

FrayedKnot · 06/07/2008 14:29

You can tell it's raining

Lots of people are dropping in

Franny, hope the day has improved.

TooTicky · 06/07/2008 14:38

Good cake FK

Bero, I worked something out the other day and I was so pleased, but it is so linguistically anoraky that I thought I could never tell anybody. Well, nobody who would think I wasn't just a little odd. But I could tell you and you could pat me on the back and say well done!
