For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

That sounds exquisite to me

berolina · 03/07/2008 20:32

I am back. Absolutely shattered. Can I just say I love love love lovely Londoners and tube staff who helped me on the tube with an improbable amount of baby and luggage. They saved the Day today.

TooT and family are utterly lovely.

LullyOfShallot · 03/07/2008 20:33

Lol Boco

ds gets very cross when his friends come here & are picky.
His best friend of the moment will only eat plain pasta & it has to be the right shape & not M&S square pasta

as I found to my cost

ho hum

I am just off to bed and clucking by.

Tomorrow I have to be up early as I am going out for the day courtesy of work. For the last couple of years we had team building events but due to some management changes this year we are just going out for the day to somewhere I really like

I am aware however tomorrow is the date I predicted for the arrival of Franlet so

I am visualizing Windy Miller slowly emerging from box

Or did it need to be quick tomorrow actually?

Fast forwards Windy >>>>>>>>>>

Night all x

Oh, it's just petty overwroughtness really. Sorry.
My mum is staying and she is wonderful BUT dd1 behaves revoltingly, ds1 is more boisterous, my mum is a sensitive person, and not overly happy in herself, and stressed, and I just spend the whole time feeling rather on edge.
Sorry. It is trivial.

Stirfry with homegrown stuff and braised tofu.

TooTicky · 03/07/2008 22:34

Lully, that is dreadful. I hope everybody knows how petty she is.

Bero!! Glad you got back okay!

TooTicky · 03/07/2008 22:43

Ds1 wants to learn Italian. I really want to encourage him and know from experience that Teach Yourself courses can be hard. Any ideas?

3andnomore · 03/07/2008 22:46

Hi All...have not read the whole thread...because, well, tis just to late and a to long thread to read...but, as I am finding myself on teh PC and on Mumsnet...well, it would be rude NOT to pop in!
Franny....so, you are due tomorrow, or is your EDD slightly different??? Well, am thinking of you...in Yannics class one of the Kids mums is ready to pop, and she is really petit but got that huge bump to carry about and I feel so so sorry for her.
Well, as for us here....things have been pretty good.
My mum was here for 4 weeks and it was lovely to have her here (and not jsut because she helps me so much with the day to day household tings, lol)! She went back home to germany on Sunday!
Pete has landed a brilliant Job....after a long period of nothing and me getting really stressed out about it all, he had 3 Interviews in one week and got offered all 3 Jobs (one was with teh company I work for), and of ocurse he went for the best one, which is a superbly paid Job (well, with Pete's Army pension we are about 5 grand better off than before), as a operation room shift manager for a security firm....funny thing is, he actually applied, at an earlier stage, as a Security Guard (it's a security agency type) and was told "no thank you"....obviously he was overqualified then...wish they had let him know that then...because it would have helped his self esteem, hohum! So, he is happy, working hard right now, but once he is working proper rota, he may have 12 h shifts...BUT...it will be 4 days on 4 days off....so...that is kinda good!
As for me....the University offer now is unconditional, as I passed that course I did with a B+, so, am very pleased about that, of course....although....must amdit I was a bit disappointyed it wasn't an A...now that would have been cool...
The Kids are great. Sven is thriving in his Secondary school and I now have met more of his friends he made at school, and they all seem to be good young lads, so, that is superb and hopefully stays that way!
Yannic is Yannic...little lifewire that he is, lol!
And Flynn, well, looks like the poor fellow will either need his foreskin "stretched" or he will need to be circumcised...am hoping it will be the stretch, because, whilst it will still be a painful thing to go through with, I know how being circumcised effects dh's and my sexual relationship....as he has lost so much sensation by being circumcised....!
Oh, thinking about that part of dh...he will get his vasectomy on the 7th of August....wohoo...!
Anyway, bit random....but anyways, how is everyone then? Hope all is well!

3andnomore · 03/07/2008 22:56

Oh, and I bought myself a Granny Trolley on Sunday, and it's seriously cool!
I got it from Ikea and it's a lovely design and was dir cheap...
The amound of shopping I have, already, not needed to lug home but was able to pull along...it was worth it's money this week alone, lol! I now wish I would have had the guts to get one earlier, I would have carried my little ones even more in their slings!

Tatties · 03/07/2008 23:24

Hello!

"Exquisite" - Boco I love it! I'm going to teach ds to say that (When he gets his appetite back, he's still throaty ) Glad to hear cat is improving.

TooT, you need to find your ds1 an Italian girlfriend. Or penpal or something.

3and - nice to see you! You know I am planning a trip to Ikea at the weekend so I might just get myself one of those trollies. Might come in handy as we are probably going to ditch the car soon.

And Bero, good to have you back

I'm sure I wanted to say things to more people but my brain is giving up for the day now I think. Night all

pinkspottywellies · 03/07/2008 23:44

Hi 3and! Good to see you!

TooT, hope everybody manages to last the visit without killing each other!

Franny, have you had it yet?!

Went for a run along the beach again today Felt a bit self-conscious that everyone would be thinking 'where does she think she is, LA?' F&V consumption average - about 6? DH and I went out for a drink tonight. Was very funny

Going home tomorrow. 5 hours in the car yay.

UnderRated · 04/07/2008 00:14

Oh Toot, even the most easy-going parent can make one feel on edge.

Glad to see Bero back. LOL @ PSW thinking she is in LA.

Hello 3andnomore. I am going to buy a Granny Trolley so that I don't have to lug the shopping up 7 floors with a 3 yr old trying to 'help'

DS made his own supper tonight - egg mayo sandwiches. He said they were delicious - I asked if they were exquisite and he said they were. We will keep using that word. He has been so lovely today. I am feeling all warm and glowy and proud and happy.

stuffitllama · 04/07/2008 06:12

Hello all, not really had time to read, and hope you are all well

Am losing the pute for weeks and weeks so just to say hope you all have a great start to summer

but bye for now

all the best Fran and to all, and to UR for your situation
you are all fruitily marvellous

wish me luck
xx

UnderRated · 04/07/2008 06:13

Ooo. good luck, Stuffit

Let us know how things go. Come back soon, won't you?

x

FrannyandZooey · 04/07/2008 08:14

oh blimey stuffit GOOD LUCK
hope you can pop in

UR what a fab day. LOL at all veggers teaching their children to say exquisite. I have probably gone on about this before but when ds was baby we taught him some sign language inc 'delicious' - you know the rather cliched hand kissing thing that french chefs are meant to do. He loved that one and used to do it often while having a meal, and once while breastfeeding

Hello 3and! Good to see you and excellent news about your course, and the Uni offer. Glad thr boys are all well but sorry to hear Flynn might need the op.

Everyone should have granny trolleys. They are marvellous and I have just thought of another benefit to them - you can leave them in the hall for days if you can't be arsed to unpack your shopping and they look quite smart as opposed to bags of stuff lying everywhere for people to trip over and say 'can't you MOVE this shopping '

Good luck Stuffit!

Franny you still have another 10 days to go according to my prediction LOL at Bibbons Have you got people phoning you every day? That drove me potty, I got calls every day leading up to and after my due date, "any signs?" Oh actually yes, I had the baby, did I forget to tell you? And no-one thought I was going to be late, people had convinced me that I was so small, I couldn't possibly carry the baby past my due date

TigerFeet · 04/07/2008 09:47

Just popping in quickly to say

GOOD LUCK STUFFIT, hope the move goes well

ooooh good luck stuffit!!! That has come round fast (or is it just that I have been off MN for the best part of 3 weeks )

I have had emotional days at my parents', a lovely holiday (farm! ponies and geese! countryside! beach!) culminating in a happy visit to the lovely TooT, her dh and her wonderful children who made shy ds1 and not-so-shy ds2 feel very very at ease, and - after dh and ds1 had flown home - 6 days pretending to be an academic again, the dreaming-spires illusion regularly shattered by having to dive after ds2 as he went for the electrical wires in the college room. Got some great research done, though, came back stuffed full of ideas and Things to Think About, and met two MNers. Came back to a heatwave (33°C), but fortunately it has been thoroughly rained on in the night. We have flowers, oodles of lovely soft broad bean pods and tomatoes (including one red one) on the balcony. I am quietly homesick (? - I think I mean home-country-sick) but OK.

Veg bread, 4 slices (gosh I have missed German bread). Peach.

Good luck Stuffit!

Welcome back Bero.

Just been with friend who is due tomorrow - nothing is happening yet, and people kept saying 'not long now' and she was grimacing and scowling at them and I thought of Fra. Her mother has come from Blackburn to stay and help out as she has a two year old - and her mother kept saying 'well, it'd better come soon because I want to go home!'

Cat ill again. She lay under the bed, by my head, making weird rasping noises all night.
