Oh Elliot what a wonderful and very sensitive thing for him to say. I know it comes from his heart but I just wish for all of you that the circumstances were such that he never had needed to say it. I have been thinking of you all day Jo. I can't believe Steve's sister started to kick off, can his family show no restraint! Good to hear that with the help of Richard the service was all you wanted it to be. How are you Jo? Hope your physical health is better. Much love and many hugs. Well done for getting through today and giving Steve a very fitting service xxx

LilRedWG · 18/06/2008 23:22

OJ, your children are so lucky to have a wonderful Mum like you and you are blessed to have them. Steve brought you all together and is your foundation! Build on that and carry on together.

Much love sweetheart. Please know that many thoughts were sent your way today. xx

differentID · 18/06/2008 23:31

Have been thinking of you all. Elliott is a young man to be proud of. Try to get some rest tonight. My dad died of cancer nearly 20 years ago and my mum said that the worst day for her was the day after the funeral. Please remember that people here are able and willing to listen, no matter when.

robinpud · 18/06/2008 23:53

It spunds like your kids did you and Steve proud OJ. So sorry to hear that there were extra stresses, but glad that those that really knew and loved Steve got to say their goodbyes in the way they wanted.

Sparkler · 18/06/2008 23:56

Well done OJ for getting through the day - you must be exhausted. Am absolutely gobsmacked at Steve's family today. Try and get some rest now sweetheart. You've been busy rushing around for weeks now - it's time to think about yourself now. Try and get some rest, although I imagine it will be difficult. xx

jenk1 · 19/06/2008 00:08

OJ im so sorry to hear about the inlaws behaviour today.

I cant understand it at all, but you must be so proud of your 3 children and Steve and it sounds like you gave him a wonderful and fitting tribute.

onlyjoking9329 · 19/06/2008 06:57

Ignore my post at 11.23pm the rum had cleary gone to my fingers.
I meant to say that tracey is a star and Paul and the kids were fab not bad [ blush]
tracey sorted loads of wonderful food and her mum brought two trifles, my girls found a box of strawberries so they were very happy.

VaginaShmergina · 19/06/2008 07:09

Morning OJ. Any plans for today ? Will you keep the children off school for the rest of the week ?

bellavita · 19/06/2008 07:32

Sorry you had to endure the ILS yesterday, you would have thought that they could have shown a little decorum and dignity.

squeaver · 19/06/2008 07:37

OJ Your children are amazing. You should be so proud - and I'm sure Steve is too. And how wonderful that you're surrounded by such good friends in RL and on here

susue · 19/06/2008 07:41

Was thinking of you all yesterday, the kids did you both proud. As I sat in the car for a while at 10.53am that song by Snow Patrol came on and I thought I can't believe it!! Of all the songs to play just then, at nearly 11am, so I sang for Steve. God Bless you and give you peace, x

twentyoneagain · 19/06/2008 07:57

OJ I'm new to MN and have read your posts. I feel so sad for you and the dcs. I had a friend go through a similar situation to yours a few years back and know just how devastating this all is.

Don't be afraid to lean on your friends, Tracey sounds brilliant and just what you need, and of course the support here is amazing. You have three wonderful children who are a testament to the love and care they have received from you and Steve. You have every reason to be proud of them.

Hugs to you all.

whispywhisp · 19/06/2008 07:59

Morning Jo. Hope you have a nice peaceful day today. Hope the kids are ok and what lovely, thoughtful, kind and caring kids they are too. xxxx

WingsofaAngel · 19/06/2008 08:07

OJ how proud Steve will be looking over you all. Elliot is a lovely boy who must get his caring nature from you.
Take each hour as it comes.
Take care x

hazygirl · 19/06/2008 08:08

big hugs oj ,what fantastic children you have, and sorry about arse hole in laws ,how dare they try to ruin the day which is hard enough to get through.im one for thinking wot goes around comes around ,bigx hugsx

fryalot · 19/06/2008 08:12

morning oj.

sorry to see that the ILs kicked off - twats!

thinking of you and the kids.

xx

Buda · 19/06/2008 08:23

Morning OJ - glad that the service was as you wanted it. Am in shock at the ILs though. What on earth are they on? To heckle at the funeral of their son and brother is a testament of just how low and selfish they are.

The children sound fantastic. Elliot is a star.

Hope you all got some sleep. The next few weeks will be hard OJ. Over the last months you have had Steve to worry about and were kept busy caring for him. For the last week you have had the organisation of the funeral to occupy you. Things will seem harder now. You will be missing Steve obv and won't have as much of a focus of things to do. Please look after yourself and take some time for you. You have been so busy over the last while that it is now all bound to take a toll. Maybe think about booking some massage or reflexology therapies to help you de-stress.

You have some fab RL friends and we are all here for you whenever you need us.

Lots of hugs to you today OJ.

Well done OJ and kids. Glad you were able to give Steve the memorial he deserved, even if others tried to spoil it.

You deserve the rum!

trulymadlydeeply · 19/06/2008 09:08

So glad you felt the service did Steve justice, OJ.

So sad his family are such low-life that they couldn't see past their own agenda to what the day was really about. Well - at least you're free of them now.

Your children sound absolutely lovely - you must be so proud of them. Elliot's words choked me: what a complete star.

Hope today is OK for you, lovely.

Thinking of you,

xxx

TimeForMe · 19/06/2008 09:27

Good morning OJ. I am pleased you managed to get through yesterday and that Steve had a lovely service depsite his families attempts. They really do beggar belief.

Reading what Elliot said brought a tear to my eye, bless him, he really is a little star!

Thinking of you all and sending you all lots of love and hugs xxxx

PS I had my trifle too

bigcar · 19/06/2008 09:30

oj, I can't believe your ils ever had any real feelings for Steve, they just seem to still want total control over him. Thinking of you as always x

lilyloo · 19/06/2008 09:32

OJ so glad that you and your brave dc's gave Steve a lovely goodbye , what a shame the kids can behave in a more dignified manner than his family when they have lost there dad.
My thoughts are with you all in the coming weeks when things quieten down and you can begin to come to terms with life as it is now.

WeeBesom · 19/06/2008 10:46

Oj, I'm also pleased that you managed to get through yesterday, was thinking of you and the kids.

Your children sound wonderful, so brave. Seems like Elliot is going to be just like his daddy.

Sending you lots of love and hope the IL's give you some peace now.

(new disguise on today, I'm WrongSideOfTwenty)

bundle · 19/06/2008 10:52
