Honey, I really hope that you, Abbey, Bethan & Eliiot got to say goodbye to Steve in the way you wanted today and that Steve's mother and her children treated the day with the respect that Steve so deserves. You, Steve and the kids have been so mazing through of this I hope that it was a celebration of his life and of the man that he is. H and I were out for lunch but trifle is on the menu for this evening.xxx

OJ, we just went into the garden to blow bubbles and for the first time ever it was so windy, the bubbles blew themselves. DD was very impressed and asked if the man from the computer was blowing the bubbles for her.

Hope the service went as planned.

Thought of you all today and had a quiet moment at 11 for you.

I know the coming weeks will be very hard for you as you have been so busy and your life has been so full, but you have shown an amazing amount of love for your family during the hard times and made some wonderful memories and I know that those will carry you through the dark times and out of the other side.

as will all of your mates - both online and in real life

This poem is by Brian Patten and it is so true -, Steve will live on with everyone

How long does a man live after all?
A thousand days or only one?
One week or a few centuries?
How long does a man spend living or dying
and what do we mean when we say gone forever?

Adrift in such preoccupations, we seek clarification.
We can go to the philosophers
but they will weary of our questions.
We can go to the priests and rabbis
but they night be busy with administrations.

So, how long does a man live after all?
And how much does he live while he lives?
We fret and ask so many questions -
then when it comes to us
the answer is so simple after all.

A man lives for as long as we carry him inside us,
for as long as we carry the harvest of his dreams,
for as long as we ourselves live,
holding memories in common, a man lives.

His lover will carry his man's scent, his touch:
his children will carry the weight of his love.
One friend will carry his arguements,
another will hum his favourite tunes,
another will still share his terrors.

And the days will pass with baffled faces,
then the weeks, then the months,
then there will be a day when no question is asked,
and the knots of grief will loosen in the stomach
and the puffed faces will calm.
And on that day he will not have ceased
but will have ceased to be separated by death.

How long does a man live after all?
A man lives so may different lengths of time.

Sweetheart, hoping that today was not too difficult for you and the children.

Raising a spoon to Steve

Thinking of you throughout today x x x

Thinking of you and the kids, OJ, hope the day was respectful and peaceful and with lots of happy memories of a life shared. It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, and you are testament to that.

Paddlechick666 · 18/06/2008 20:17

OJ, dd blew bubbles in her bath tonight and had her first ever taste of trifle which contains all her favourite things!

I am saving my trifle for later to savour in a quiet moment.
