Dh very ill, will be going into the hospice on Wednesday

Dh is now very poorly. He is very thin, has no appetite, sleeps most of the day and is up most of the night.

The Macmillan nurse visited today and has told him to stay in bed, and he will have a bed in the hospice on Wednesday.

I don't know if this is 'it'. but he is getting very ill very quickly. At least he got to do his balloon ride yesterday, and got the formal news of his MBE a little while ago.

We have been lucky to have the extra time that we have had, and we have built some fine memories, but this is very hard. He is such a good man and doesn't deserve this. I don't know if I can post updates, I may well just use MN as a distraction.

I'm so sorry to hear that Mr MB MBE is going downhill so fast. The hospice is def the best place for making him comfortable.

MarsLady · 16/06/2008 13:25

MB... you are all in my prayers.

I'm so sorry

TigerFeet · 16/06/2008 13:25

Think of you often MrsMBMBE x

geordieminx · 16/06/2008 13:25

MB - Will your dh have flown over Ch-le-st yesterday evening?

Notyummy · 16/06/2008 13:26

MB, my DH knows yours and had a drink with him a couple of weeks ago when he got the 'advance nod' of the gong...even then I know he was able to joke about it; 'well, you know how to get yours!' He sounds like an exceptional man.

Wishing you strength in this unbelievably difficult time. I probably don't live at far from you and would never want to intrude/interfere, but if you ever need any practical help or a chat, then please get in touch.

SoupKitchen · 16/06/2008 13:26

Enid · 16/06/2008 13:26

Oh I am so sorry to hear this

I had kind of blotted it out in my mind and somehow thought that this wasn't really happening.

Lots of love to you and your family MB.

Enif xx

Anna8888 · 16/06/2008 13:27

Very sorry to read this.

squeaver · 16/06/2008 13:28

Like a lot of people on here, I don't know you, bu have been following the news of our dh.

Wishing you all lots of strength.

Elibean · 16/06/2008 13:29

MB, I'm so very sorry

You've been in my thoughts recently, I was going to post a 'how are you, and Mr MB' but didn't want to intrude, somehow.

I'm glad for the balloon ride (and congrats on the MBE, Mr MB) and so hope the hospice can help physically, emotionally, or both.

And goodness, don't worry about posting, do whatever you need to do, please...we'll be thinking of you and sending loads of love anyway. xxx

whoops · 16/06/2008 13:29

really sorry to hear this

Hassled · 16/06/2008 13:29

I'm so sorry - I thought of him up in his balloon yesterday. Is the hospice reasonably close to you - can you get there to see him OK? And MN is here either as a distraction or a punching bag.

bossykate · 16/06/2008 13:29

very sorry to hear this

stealthsquiggle · 16/06/2008 13:29

So sorry, MB. You have both been so strong - I am sure everyone would understand completely if you prefer to MN only on inane unimportant matters rather than posting updates.

Piffle · 16/06/2008 13:30

oh MB I am so sorry this is happening.
I hope mr mb can be made comfortable and you're coping ok.
all I can wish you is love and strength and a prayer that you keep hold of him a bit longer.
Take care x x x x

margoandjerry · 16/06/2008 13:30

So sorry MB. Typical of you to describe yourself as lucky to have had the time you have had with him.

I hope you have some more meaningful times together.

I'm so sorry.

My father was in a hospice, and my sister died in one last Friday. I have nothing but praise for hospices: they do everything to make things calm and comfortable.

Thinking of you.
