Dh very ill, will be going into the hospice on Wednesday

Dh is now very poorly. He is very thin, has no appetite, sleeps most of the day and is up most of the night.

The Macmillan nurse visited today and has told him to stay in bed, and he will have a bed in the hospice on Wednesday.

I don't know if this is 'it'. but he is getting very ill very quickly. At least he got to do his balloon ride yesterday, and got the formal news of his MBE a little while ago.

We have been lucky to have the extra time that we have had, and we have built some fine memories, but this is very hard. He is such a good man and doesn't deserve this. I don't know if I can post updates, I may well just use MN as a distraction.

MB. I'm pleased he has a nice room, even if it's a small benefit.

oh and big hug for your dd (and ds of course). xx

Elibean · 18/06/2008 20:34

I can only imagine the level of grim, MB.

I'm glad Mr MB has a nice room, and ache thinking of your dd.

And did at the paramedic story, because it fits that people you helped in the past should be helping you now.

frogs · 18/06/2008 20:36

Oh love. Thinking of you all, and wishing you some better moments among the grimness.

Beetroot · 18/06/2008 20:37

poor dd am sure it is difficult for her and you all.

take care MB

expatinscotland · 18/06/2008 20:37

Still thinking of you and Mr MB, MB and wishing you all peace.

I hope you get some good rest tonight and some good sleep.

I am glad he is in a good room and you know he is in good hands with good nurses - I worked in a hospice for about a year and the nurses were all superb.

zephyrcat · 18/06/2008 20:46

MB I have to echo exactly what LTH has posted. Over the months of reading your threads the one thing that becomes ever so apparent is the amazing stregnth and love that is with you all in your family, and it is truly inspirational.
I was so thrilled to read a couple of days ago about Mr MB's MBE, and today feel so sad for you all that he is not so good.

Sending you love and prayers. x

scaryteacher · 18/06/2008 20:54

Thinking of you MB and sending hugs from Brussels. Give one to the dcs as well, and of course one for Mr MB.

Spidermama · 18/06/2008 20:57

It's so nice that the bloke who showed you in is one of your ex students and in the job partly because of your good teaching. All these people you affect who move on, who will go on to affect others and more after those and so the ripple works its way out.

It must be hard having to stay strong for your dd when you are probably not feeling all that strong yourself. Are there others around to take off the heat so you can go for the odd walk on your own?

Mercy · 18/06/2008 21:08

MB, poor dd, and ds of course. Is ds younger or just less aware?

With all best wishes to the MB family

robinpud · 18/06/2008 21:09

Thinking of you all MB. Is there anything, apart from the obvious that might cheer/distract dd for you?

Psychomum5 · 18/06/2008 21:14

my thoughts are with you MB. xxx

trulymadlydeeply · 18/06/2008 21:15

So sorry the amazing Mr MB is weaker. What a swift decline there seems to have been recently .

It must be so extremely hard on you all, can't imagine how grim, but hope your dd and ds are coping as well as they can given the circumstances.

Lots of love, Mr and Mrs MB: you are both extraordinary.

Have been thinking of you today.

Am so sorry that Mr MB MBE is so unwell now. And am heartbroken for your DD (and you and DS of course). None of you should be having to deal with any of this.

WideWebWitch · 18/06/2008 21:24

I'm so sorry Mb. typing anything to you just seems so inadequate, sorry dd is sad too. Thinking of you all, fw little it's worth.

magnolia74 · 18/06/2008 21:25

Thinking of you and Mr MB xxxx

WideWebWitch · 18/06/2008 21:25

And is anyone looking after you? I do hope so x

littlemissbossy · 18/06/2008 21:26

Just wanted you to know we're thinking of you in the bossy-household. Don't have time for MN much these days although it's hard not to lurk - but have thought about you and Mr MB often - even though I don't "know" you.
I wish Mr MB much comfort in the hospice and congratulate him on his MBE, what a wonderful achievement and honour.
I'll keep checking in and see how you're all doing if that's ok with you.

Have been thinking of you, so very sad to hear this. Sending you lots of strength for the days ahead and a big hug for the dc. I can't find words adequate, but just want you to know that this "stranger" is praying for you all x
