For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello all,

Yes I need Bootcamp desperately. Sir!, Yes Sir!

My cumulative age of children is 5.5!

zippitippitoes · 15/06/2008 23:14

i need bootcamp

but not yet

UnderRated · 16/06/2008 02:05

shenanigans is a fabulous word. I will use it tomorrow.

BBBee, I think you might cry but I hope you won't.

I've been singing which meant a 4 hr round trip on public trasport including lots of walking so I'm counting it as my 10 mins of exercise. 3 bananas, 2 lettuces (small ones), spinach and rhubarb. 7, I think.

Cumulative age of children: 2.9

FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 08:38

this is an interesting new table for someone to compile, the cumulative child age thing
so we have zippi at top then stuffit and TooT, with people like me Avi and FK at the bottom

ANYWAY
boot camp
where's me hat?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 08:41

hope Bero got off safely
4.45 start not very nice

am eating pineapple, strawberries, raisins, tidgy bit of melon, banana = 4

am going to the gym later, when ds does gymnastics . well in theory I am, in practice I am probably standing in corridor outside gymnastics with ds crying, and the evil Head of Gym making some kind of point about me not coming in to settle him, as civilisation as we know it may end if I do

ANYWAY
Boot Camp
oh yes
everyone line up and let me see who is here

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 16/06/2008 08:46

morning fran not to worry about the hat, i am stepping up to the plate

i am going to buy things vegetal and bulk cook for the week

i like the cumulative ages.. i think i could draw a flow chart on cumulative ages and useful advice

when you have no children you have 100 per cent advice to offer

almost immediately you realise there is no useful advice to offer unless it's asked for

it declines from there on until you get to about 25, then you realise that very little advice you can proffer is applicable to any other child in the world except your own and the only things to share are sympathy and joy

in my case anyway

a lesson my mother in law never learned

FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 08:50

Ah stuffit
right you can be my deputy and get this rabble into shape
bulk cooking is really fab, I will try to find the thread where I go on and on in detail

here you go

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 16/06/2008 08:50

the horrid gym teacher doesn't know as much as you do about your ds, we gave up a gym class for the same reason

zippitippitoes · 16/06/2008 08:52

i had better try my exercise is nion existent

FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 08:53

can you email my mother about the advice thing stuffit
dear lord she's been alive over 70 years and not worked it out yet
I keep laughing about one particular incident from when she last came to stay
she and my dad helped me out a lot and I was really trying not to get riled by all the unwanted comments / suggestions / commands / opinions
of course culminated in me getting completely overwrought and snapping randomly in supermarket "DON'T TOUCH THOSE" in a kind of snarl as she tried to reorganise shopping bags I had packed the way I wanted them
cashier about 16 looking very scared

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 08:54

I am going to say that to her if she kicks off again stuffit
"I am the best judge of how to settle my son in to this class"

zippi WHY are you not exercising
you were exercise queen

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 16/06/2008 08:55

i've printed it ta with knobs on
my first efforts will probably be very dull

lots of bolognaise with mushrooms and broccoli
lots of chilli with different beans and red peppers to go with brown rice and salad
lots of tomatoes and carrots for me to eat raw

lots of v expesnive but time saving ready prepared probably non organic veg

frozen focaccia instead of pizza bases for passata, red peppers, and horrible salami the children like (all the ready made pizza bases here have hydrogenated fat)

If i do that today i have the rest of the week for packing
and sorting

zippitippitoes · 16/06/2008 08:57

lost the plot and supposedly have lots of work but got demotivated so food and exercise poor work non existent

my course finishes in two weeks and i have loads to hand in that i havent done

and mn has distracted me too

and bf

stuffitllama · 16/06/2008 08:57

hello zippi have you decided your flight yet?

yes fran with a big disarming smile and a very firm voice

right tally ho to the shops

see you later

FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 08:57

oh but isn't teacher, I must point this out
is just admin woman who came down to nosy about spectate last week
when she said 'there isn't room for you to stay' (in massive gym hall ) I wanted to say "if we are so cramped in here how come you can manage to squeeze in then"

actual teacher is v nice and has always said he can take as long as he needs to settle in
this is another reason why I'm hacked off, you can't suddenly change the tune like that half way through term
I've been saying to ds for weeks "it doesn't matter if you feel nervous at the beginning because I am allowed to stay for a while"
now "it DOES matter and I am NOT allowed to stay"
arses

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 16/06/2008 08:59

she sounds a twat

FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 09:00

right well zippi
you can find 10 mins
just set out to do 10 mins and if you really haven't time to do more then stop
but you know you love exercising and will probably do about 3 hours

stuffit all sounds excellent and you will save much time which you can use to do your packing and exercising

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 16/06/2008 09:00

probably some spurious heakth and safety you would block the exit in case of a fire

FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 09:00

yes twat indeed
I must let it go though
ohmmmmmm

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 09:00

I am not THAT big! there's 2 fire exits

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 16/06/2008 09:01

i have twat tutor this am i dobbed him in ;last week for his comments on gays

FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 09:01

oh and allegedly on last day of term all parents and doting grandmas come in and watch the class to see what the clever darlings are up to

so we suddenly DO have space

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 16/06/2008 09:02

oh no! what did he say?

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 16/06/2008 09:02
