Cantaloupe, cantaloupe! Will you eat the bad mango? - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hullo everybody.

I'm on for the F/V bootcamp, I need the kick up the arse. I'm doing okay with the f/v, its the 10mins exercise thats problematic. Thats the prob with working from home, you don't go anywhere..

Weekend of much cooking, very nice. DD1 ate virtually none of my food, which is always annoying, but DH for whom most of the cooking was done (fathers day) was happy.

The only DD1 food positive was that she finally gave in to the lure of my home grown / made Rhubarb crumble, which made me happy..

DD2 on the other hand ate broccoli, carrot, grapes, banana, apple and rhubarb at various points, so I felt a great deal of f/v pride in her. However shes only 6m so plenty of time for backsliding.

I ate loads of everything, i am virtuousness personified. I even went for a long walk yesterday..

Berolina you are right of course, don't let those undermining comments and sneaky digs chip away at you. Those comparisons between children are the worst, the things that really make one . But you know he is completely perfect. This is what i tell myself about mine when he comes under the beady eye of compare and contrast. And it's true for both.

Lully, what a filthy thing. I don't know how you keep your chin up!

must talk to dh

what about cumulative ages, i am quite interested in this

stuffitllama · 15/06/2008 21:15

oh Fran it's just people have to live with the terrible effects, and they get some chump making a joke out of their plight

anyway that's not for here

looking forward to bootcamp (sorta kinda -- but will do it!)

talilac · 15/06/2008 21:22

yes whats the cumulative age thing, missed that?

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 21:23

right what would people like bootcamp to be like?

talila I think it was our children's cumulative age
I've only got one so not very impressive

OP posts:
talilac · 15/06/2008 21:27

oh, um, 2.4

mine are littlies.

talilac · 15/06/2008 21:31

bootcamp - F/V goes eeeevil..

None of this fluffy fruitloopiness.

It should be "what did you have for breakfast? Thats not good enough! Quick march to the kitchen, cherries on the double! And do your ten minutes of exercise on the way back!"

But someone would need to be the seargant major and I don't reckon any of us are mean enough.. Plus we'd scare all the lurkers (go to bed Cod!)

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 21:33

I have tried that talila
people all hid in a pit and ate mars bars as I recall

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 21:34

Some of us shaved our heads and did scissor kicks over the barbed wire

talilac · 15/06/2008 21:36

So what shall we do? Just be a bit less forgiving of ourselves when we fall short of 10/10 (and 10)?

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 21:38

you only want me to be stern so you have something to rebel against
it's quite exhausting
it'll take me half an hour just to get the big boots on for starters

talilac · 15/06/2008 21:46

and on that note, i'm off to bed.. see you folk tomorrow

TooTicky · 15/06/2008 22:33

Sounds good
Scrabble VERY important.

TooTicky · 15/06/2008 22:33

I bought travel Scrabble in a charity shop recently. We've not travelled with it yet but play it for its novelty

berolina · 15/06/2008 22:42

Thank you for all good wishes. Have emailed you TooT.

I have to be up at 4:45 tomorrow. Flight at ungodly hour. But I want to be up, wandering through the flat and looking at everything. I get very sentimental about home every time before I go away for more than a couple of days. (dh is coming out to meet us at the end of the week and we are off on holiday).

FrayedKnot · 15/06/2008 22:46
