For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

In related news, I have managed to make myself feel sick by overeating. Again.

gooseberryfoolmoonfiend · 04/06/2008 15:29

snigger at ALychee...

TooT - I will have a zillion cherries on my tree in a couple of weeks! (provided bloody gales don't blow all the little cherryettes off before they ripen, like last year....

OsmosisBanana · 04/06/2008 16:01

I can't believe you are nearly the same age as me MrsC. You sound so sane n stuff.

I am back to normal now and promise to eat healthily etc etc and get my exercise through more traditional methods.

Am having giant thai feast tomorrow. Feel I may be being ambitious with the number of people I am cooking for and the number of dishes I am making.

Am making sweetcorn fritters with hot dipping sauce

crab and lime no name

tom yum ghai

and some sort of shredded salad with noodle thing.

Am off to new deluxe asian hypermarket with DH after work. Little does he know. [evil cackle] I am going to buy baby aubergines, thai sweet basil, galangal and allsorts of things that shall go in the fridge and glare at me repraochfully when I don't use them all up.

I did battle with the bastards at cunting council tax and won. Tax bill now reduced from £150 a month to £80. Much improved

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 16:34

fmf. Now who's a gooseberry?

LittleRach - am duly impressed by your 3 cherries

OB - well done re council tax! Very well done!

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 16:36

Okay, am baffled by coke, strawberry and pomegranate people. WHO ARE YOU?!?!?!

anotherRaspberry · 04/06/2008 17:25

Have changed again

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 17:31

MrsC is getting annoyed with all you copycats you know

let's all change to MsParsnip etc, she won't mind THAT because she doesn't like THAT name

am back, did the walking around bit and sosme of it really hurt but in the end it was wonderfully fortuitous as there was this song and story time thing at the library and I got to just sit and watch, and then we met some friends and all did sitting around drinking tea again

and dp'll be home in an hour
lovely

gooseberryfoolmoonfiend · 04/06/2008 17:45

Followed by grapes and cherries.

DD1 has just gone ot her first Brownies meeting.

Tatties · 04/06/2008 17:54

Oh FMF

Glad you had a good afternoon Franny. I am plodding on slowly with all the things I need to do

Guadalupe · 04/06/2008 18:13

Now, if anyone comes on as Revillagigedo or Rocas Alijos I shall throw my hands up in despair.

Tuna and salad for lunch and goats cheese tart with wilted spinach and garlic and asparagus with parmesan and lemon courgettes. Maybe some red wine.

The room has just gone really dark, I love that pre-stormy atmosphere, in fact big plops are dropping on the conservatory roof. I think I woould like to extend our kitchen into the conservatory and have glass above the table. My friend has that and it's lovely.

Guadalupe · 04/06/2008 18:14

tart and veg for dinner, that would have been a HUGE lunch.

Sorry about your van, FMV.

aLychee · 04/06/2008 18:15

Thats asking for trouble

gooseberryfoolmoonfiend · 04/06/2008 18:20

the insurance said twas not economically viable to repair. And after weeks of searching out specialists etc we came to the same conclusion. Would have cost more to repair than van was woerth. Now, if we had loads of money we'd have done it anyway. But sadly, car is also on last legs so we really need to be mindful of that.
Ho hum

Saving up for of these though as we can use it as main family car too!

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 18:23

oH FMF i AM SO SORRY

Carrot, apple, lettuce, tabbouleh, orange juice. Oranges in a minute. I feel my scurvy risk diminishing, also feel more able to cope with loud telly, pissing tap and shrieking children.
Have handpicked bulghur wheat from furry sofa cover

Guadalupe · 04/06/2008 18:25

Toot - you didn't let them eat bhulgar wheat on the sofa did you? You're mad.

I say this as someone whose sofa is covered in allsorts but still.

gooseberryfoolmoonfiend · 04/06/2008 18:26

hahhahahaha! I have finally got to DH. He is making curry and he looked at it and said: I'll go and get some green veg to put, shall I? It's only got onions and pork in so far..'''

YYESSSSSSSSSSS!!

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 18:26

Yeah, I know. But the table is covered in stuff

Guadalupe · 04/06/2008 18:26

bulghur

FMV - Sounds like you loved your van a lot. Can you save for another?

zippitippitoes · 04/06/2008 18:27

i had bacon chips and beans for lunch with a pepsi max

i was feeling strangely tired and slightly faint is my excuse

Guadalupe · 04/06/2008 18:27

I can't see your link, FMV

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 18:27

Fmf, your link didn't work for me.
Ebay is quite good for vehicles.

FrayedKnot · 04/06/2008 18:28

Hello

I feel a bit like a slightly out-of-date vegetable tonight. Something limp, squashy and possibly slightly mouldy underneath.

We are off to a meeting at the school tonight. We get to meet DS' teacher. I am rather apprehensive.

Re epigastric pain, sickness and all that, we are experts in this house.

I had suspected gallstones when PG with DS and had to eat a low fat diet for about the last 5 weeks of pregnancy and 8 weeks after he was born.

I think the thing to remember Tiger is low fat is not no fat, it;s just using the fat you do eat sensibly, e.g. you can use a bit of olive oil to dress a salad or cook with, but avoid the really high fat stuff like cheese, butter, cream, red meat, etc.

TooT, I didn;t want you to think I was ignoring you about the Tatty Bumpkin etc the other day. I looked at both that and Yogabugs to see what was involved. Unfortunately Tatty Bumpkin are only offering franchises atm (too much for me to take on and can;t afford), plus both want people who are eitehr qualified fitness teachers or have been doing yoga for 2 years+ and I have only been doing it (this time round) for 6 months.

It would be something I would like to do - in fact I have been looking at what is involved in training to be an ordinary yoga teacher. I need 2 years practise before I could start training, so I just need to focus on that first. I need to find something to do for the next 3-4 years that allows me to go to lots of yoga classes but also earn enough money to keep us afloat

Sorry for the waffle

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 18:29

Zippi, they are all being confusing. You will notice I am at least recognisable.
How are you? Haven't seen you for yonks.
