For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

zip is doing a very good job of spreading the 10/10 word on the five a day thread

How is Greeny &ds?

Tatties · 04/06/2008 10:58

Boco how are you today? Are you taking it easy?

TigerFeet · 04/06/2008 10:59

who are you aLychee??

Tatties I have been suffering from nausea a lot too recently - I put it down to getting bugs from dd but it wasn't going away - definitely not pg either - so this morning off to the quacks and she reckons I have gallstones Fucketty Fuck Fuck Fuck (apols but feel better for that outburst). Are you getting any stomach pains, indigestion or burpy wind Tatts?

pmsl @ Frannys name changes I do love MyOtherFannyIsAVulva I think that's inspired

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:00

tell zip to shhhh we are full

Tatties do you like David Tennant? If not why not?

Asking me how Greeny is is entirely pointless
she goes into hiding for months on end and I never see hide nor hair of her

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:00

gallstones - blimey
what can be done about that?

Boco · 04/06/2008 11:00

I'm ok thanks Tatties. Still deaf in one ear and taking codeine for the abdo pain, but feeling much more rested after a proper sleep, and no children until 3, so kind of getting things sorted out and back in some kind of order.

Boco · 04/06/2008 11:02

Oh dear at gallstones - are they the things you have to pee out?

aLychee · 04/06/2008 11:03

poor Boco
(it's me of arsiest dh ever fame)

I have found a better poster

Things go better with cake

aLychee · 04/06/2008 11:03

pee out?

TigerFeet · 04/06/2008 11:04

In the short term a low fat diet. Long term it will be an op to remove either the offending stones or the whole gall bladder.

I am now waiting for an ultrasound scan to confirm the dx

Bollocks

Boco sorry missed that you were ill - but glad that you are getting back on an even keel otherwise. How is dd2?

We are a sickly bunch aren't we? Not a good advert for vegging at all

aLychee · 04/06/2008 11:08

Oh Tiger

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:09

"(it's me of arsiest dh ever fame)"

erm that doesn't exactly pin it down, on here, you know

Tatties i will get you Kiki next time I am in glowy woman's shop

TigerFeet that sounds flipping awful
all of it
especially the low fat bit, tbh

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:10

"We are a sickly bunch aren't we? Not a good advert for vegging at all"

god we would all have leprosy or something if it wasn't for the f+v
well scurvy, anyway

aLychee · 04/06/2008 11:14

Oh dear
A sickly bunch with arsey dh's

luvverly

I am not getting much cleaning done
I am craving coconut
In fact I have eaten half ...what the hell is in coconut?

Tatties · 04/06/2008 11:19

Gosh TF

I don't get any pain, but often feel indigestion-y (ginger ale great for getting your wind up - it is one of the things I rely on to help me feel better) and just generally yucky. I went to the doctor too and she prescribed an antacid which hasn't really helped. I think with me it could be partially anxiety related, but my instinct is that it hormonal. I have been keeping a a diary and there seems to be a pattern. The problem is that I am so petrified of getting sick that the nausea makes me anxious, which probably exacerbates the nausea, and it's a vicious circle

Franny I do quite like David Tennant, I don't watch him on anything though. Why? It would be marvellous if you get hold of some Kiki for me! I assume it's ok when bf?

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:20

we are just leching about him on another thread Tatties and I thought you might like to join us [blush

Kiki is fine when bf
it's just food - very odd, green, scary food

Boco · 04/06/2008 11:21

Oh dear Tiger poor you.

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:22

right

shall I:
pick up ds from nursery and go into town, get lunch from M+S, find somewhere dry to eat it (this bit challenging tbh), take to library and swop books, bring nice new books home

(kills loads of time but involves fair amount of walking, ouch)

OR

pick ds up from nursery, make lunch here, flob about a bit all afternoon getting on each other's nerves but do it SITTING DOWN

I am torn tbh

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:29

quick please
option a or b
I have to get the library books sorted if a

TigerFeet · 04/06/2008 11:29

I am going to struggle hugely with the diet thing tbh. I have ishooos around food and whilst I am a good vegger I am also a good caker and crispser and cheeser and junker and am consequently very overweight - I am busy googling atm and I fall right into the bracket of people who are more likely to have gallstone problems - female, overweight, white, approaching 40, have had children (singular in my case), diet high in refined carbs

I am very cross with myself as my diet has probably caused this

Scarily I know two people in RL who have had this problem and both have had complications with the surgery [gulp]

It might not be gallstones though. It's just a preliminary dx. It could well be something else [head in sand]

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:31

oh TigerFeet
well wait and see then, try not to completely stress about it (easy to say I know)
and STOP GOOGLING
it should be banned, your pc should give you an electric shock and a big klaxon should go off, every time you try to Google something health related

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 11:43

well sod it
am going out
have a nice afternoon all
xx

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 12:08

aLychee is Lully, yes?
I like those posters.
Are you really scrubbing the loo with dh's toothbrush? [impressed]

Dd2 did something so utterly horrible at toddler group that I am aghast. She swung a heavy plastic telephone at another child's head in anger. She wouldn't apologise so we left immediately and she cried all the way home and I said things like, "Yes you should be miserable because you were BAD". [
We did also talk about the whys and wherefores.

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 12:11

Hope Tigerfeet and Boco and Tatties feel better soon.

Ds2 very perky if a little sore-looking.
