For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello all

Lully and Avi

Boco - any news on DD's egg lump?

Have had apple and raisin porridge, mango, melon and pineapple, chickpea cous cous with mandarins, watercress, OJ

berolina · 07/05/2008 21:42

What's up UR?

oh dear Boco hope the lump goes down and you find out the story behind it. Hope it's not too sore for her.

Can I feel sympathetically , lully and avi?

Any more thoughts on ds1, TooT?

Lovely shoes, Franny. I love red shoes. I have small and ridiculously wide feet and struggle so much with finding shoes.

I spent the morning pretending to be a yummy mummy. After taking ds1 to kindergarten I went for a wander round the shops and then to Aveda to have my hair cut - not really in my budget, tbh, but I haven't had it cut for 16 months . (My hair is long and curly, and pregnancy agreed with it, which is why I have got away with leaving it for so long. It was between shoulder and nork length and is now just about down to my shoulder). It was so lovely - fed ds2 on a sunny balcony before handing him to dh (who is working at home atm and made the time ) to look after, had a head/shoulder massage, a lovely cup of herbal tea, haircut and really nice styling. In the afternoon went with dses to a cafe and shopped in our local organic supermarket and just had an all-round nice time. I feel very guilty about the expensive haircut and (modest) shop purchases of this morning - I don't do looking after myself in that way really -, but it did me good tbh. I also decided to try on a pair of trousers that I last wore in the early stages of my pregnancy with ds1 - and I got into them. So I felt gorgeous today even though I am objectively anything but.

Pear, apple, cucumber, apple juice, roasted shallot/sunflower seeds, potatoes in their skins, salad with balcony-grown rocket.

Must go and sympathise with dh on difficulties with a project he's running - he came in while I was typing this and sounded off. He's sweet and so conscientious keen and gets so very 8rightfully, often) indignant when others fall short.

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 21:51

"Franny, the shoes are so you"
oh GOOD
Bee said I was red didn't she, I don't mind being red if I can be red suede shoes

am very sorry about anyone not being able to have the children that they might have liked
don't really know what to say about it other than I think it is a very hard thing
and very glad we are all lucky enough to be parents in the first place

Franny love the shoes. I have coral/red leather pumps and my mum has 2 pairs of red arc shoes!

Zippi gp sounds rubbish

Avi hope your gp is better than Zip's

OB I noticed you were gone cos I posted about my chocolate loaf cake recipe that I think you wanted and you weren't here. Email me and I'll send it

Glad most people's bottoms are better

Bero what a lovely day!

TooT don't forget the report! Don't leave it til the last minute

Boco anything further on the bump?

Night all. Very busy week [tired]

pinkspottywellies · 07/05/2008 23:05

My post looked a bit like one of Zip's!

Thanks for sponsoring me Fran!! I don't know if I can set a new target on that page. Prob ought to put a photo on of me running too! I've also got some sponsors the traditional way so hopefully will raise a good bit!

pinkspottywellies · 07/05/2008 23:07

Oh good. Just checked my actual fundraising page and it says Franny - was a bit confused as on the email to tell me that I'd been sponsored it had that joke name that you sometimes pretend is your 'real' name!!

Boco · 07/05/2008 23:08

The bump remains a mystery. At bedtime she said 'i banged heads with Jake and then the ladies put some ice on my head'. But this is actually not true. Jake doesn't go to pre-school, adn the ladies didn't put ice on it. It's really frustrating having no idea and no idea why she's being so funny about it.

pinkspottywellies · 07/05/2008 23:15

hope you get to the bottom of it. T'is very odd! Night

FrannyandZooey · 08/05/2008 08:06

butternut pumpkin, crab apples, mandarins, apple, dried apricot, spinach, cabbage, courgette, carrot - about 6 portions again

Drove a truck around today, collected enormous maize bales and plants.

Have a new roof now, with insulation. Houses in New Zealand are very underinsulated, we even have tv shows about doing them up - it makes people very ill which is expensive for the health system. So my little house feels less damp and more cosy

Boco · 08/05/2008 09:37

I'm going to Diss to the park and the cafe went to Fra & MrsC. Wish you could come too, and that fiercely helpful lady could supervise the children again.

Pap that sounds lovely and very energetic.

ahundredtimes · 08/05/2008 09:45

Was Franny the fiercely helpful lady?

I have to do working things in my cupboard. But JJ and I do this 2 mile walk to take dd to school in the morning - and it was v. beautiful this morning.

Am rushing by really. Hope everyone is okay. Franny can you get that belt in red? To match shoes?

I need summer clothes. I need summer shoes. I don't seem to own anything except 10 y-o cardigans and ill-fitting tops. It's a sad business.

Boco · 08/05/2008 09:53

Oh me too. I put a summer top on today and it was so short, I'm too old for short - I can't have got taller and I don't remember my clothes being short, so I must have got wider and that makes me sad.

I have been handed down summer shoes from nice friend, they're good, turquoise and silver. But need clothes that fit or i'll be Franny's time warp mother.

No there was a fiercely helpful lady who tried to control our children for us while they shrieked with delight on the stairs. She was nice. She told us to relax and she'd take care of it.

lullabyloo · 08/05/2008 10:10

morning
banana,strawberry,blueberry,mango,raspberry,peach salad
warm straight out of the oven v nutty granola

I am listening to album I was talking about the other day
It is beautiful
I cannot believe that she is 22 now & producing such extraordinary material
Well,I can..she was an extraordinary child

Looking after her & her brother & being a part of her family was a great priviledge & one of the happiest periods of my life. They showed me what a family was all about.
One of the tracks really makes me cry.

lullabyloo · 08/05/2008 10:11

Oh summer clothes
UGGGHHH

I just cant seem to ever ever do summer properly

I am an Autumn /winter snuggly jumper, nice coat & boots girl.

pinkspottywellies · 08/05/2008 10:32

I do summer clothes better than winter. I can't wear chunky knits, they just make me look round. I like turquoise and pink but I can't wear them in winter. I wear grey all winter!

I am being a horrible mummy today. I'm really tired. DH snores a lot at the minute and I can't get to sleep. Work was awful yesterday. Well not actually the work but DH and I getting sorted around dd and work. I'm being shouty and horrible and she's tired as well cause she was up at 6 after not getting to sleep til helf 9 having played DH up since bedtime, pouring 2 bottles of milk in her cot and generally not going to sleep So I feel very weary and crap.

Pap that sounds great! Boco have a lovely day.

I've eaten a satsuma so far. Rubbish!

MrsCarrot · 08/05/2008 12:00

Pink - hope your day improves. I'm not sure if I thanked you for your card? Thanks! I opened some cards in hospital and it is a blur now, sorry if I didn't.

Boco - I would love to go to the cafe again, I really fancy that quiche now. Mmmm. Have some for me.

A neighbour whom I barely know just brought me some roses and hung out my washing for me as dh is out and she heard it spin whilst she gave me the flowers. Isn't that nice?

stuffitall · 08/05/2008 12:06

Hi Mrs C, how you doing? are you moving around a lot more now (should you be ipcking up heavy loads of washing and putting them in?) hurray for your neighbour that is lovely.

Can't beat linen trews and converse for summer I reckon, very easy, and red suede shoes actually would look wonderful with a pair of white linen trousers

oh except I forgot they only became my staple item after the dc's were older than five

a banana (again) shocking bad
I did really really well for a few days with the raw snacks, nibbling and not noticing, but need to restock

bero your day sounds like a perfect break, how about a hair pic
