For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

stuffitall · 07/05/2008 13:49

avi hope your trip to the gp is ok, i guess you're a bit apprehensive so good luck

cyteen · 07/05/2008 13:59

Greetings veggers

Have had avocado, yellow pepper and cucumber sandwich, followed by an apple. Oh, and a couple of prunes on my cereal - it would have been four but I just couldn't force them down, horrible shrivelled things.

Boco, you learning to drive as well? I am too, I started last year but have been taking a break since March cos the money ran out. Really would be helpful to pass my test before this baby arrives, so I am booked in for my theory test on May 27th and about to reinstate lessons again. Was supposed to be practising with DP in the meantime but my nerve failed me - our car handles so differently to the one I'm learning in (much quicker acceleration and no power steering), the one time I went out in it I nearly hit a parked car and DP went all pasty-faced thinking about his insurance premium I haven't been in the driving seat since!

TooTicky · 07/05/2008 14:14

I only got 4 hours sleep last night due to twingeing wisdom tooth. I sat at the top of the stairs and did Productive Things but am starting to feel it now.
Am eating bowl of mad salad - cucumber, carrot, apple, tomato and vicious french watercress. It has flowers - I wonder if this is what makes it fiercer.

TooTicky · 07/05/2008 14:16

Ds2 is back at school - he asked to go (because the weather is dry and they are allowed to play on the grass).

Zippi - hugs to you. It's a horrible feeling when you need to talk about something and there just isn't the right sort of person around.

Tentative and rather distant hugs to all ailing bottoms.

OsmosisBanana · 07/05/2008 14:28

World of health here.

I am GOING to do some Davina too and crowbar off old skirting boards. DH is away and has told me I'm not to do it, so I am developing selective hearing.

Then I am going to watch all the old Cold Case shows that I have discovered on Living OD.

No DH, shite on tv, tasty bottle of white and a virgin pack of Nytol. Aaaahhhhhhh....... Lovely.

Hope you're all well, Zip, I think that appointment sounds spectacularly shit and I would be raging.

No pute ce soir. Might get some housework done! Hah!!!!

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 14:57

Zip that's bad
I hate it when you've taken a lot of courage and sort of mental energy to do something like that and then it turns out crap
what do you think you'll do next? will you see your usual gp?

Boco I can't believe the instructor sat there going 'fail fail fail fail fail'
I think I would have said 'twat twat twat twat TWAT'
well actually I would have cried, but still

good luck everyone with everything
we are a poorly lot sometimes aren't we

everything is very uncomfortable but I bought some new sprauncy shoes of comfiness
will update shoe thread for interested parties

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 16:12

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 16:14

they have got a very stupid name for such beau-ti-ful shoes

see even pg ladies with crap feet can have nice pretty shoes
I told the woman in the first shop I was not buying any of the ones she brought as they were too ugly (I might have been ever so slightly more polite than that)
anyway she said if I wanted comfort I had to forget about looks
HAH

OP posts:
TooTicky · 07/05/2008 16:16

Oh well done Franny, they are lovely. I wouldn't wear them but they are good.

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 16:18

what's wrong with them then

oh I am sorry they are leather aren't they
but do you mean you don't like the look of them also?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 07/05/2008 16:20

I have a fear of overly feminine shoes. And clothes. I think I worry that people will say, "What are you trying to look like? You're not pretty or anything". And laugh.
[scarred by school]

Boco · 07/05/2008 16:20

I like my instructor even though he said fail fail fail. He is very motivating in between the despair.

Those shoes look very red and comfortable. Good work.

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 16:21

oh ok Boco I revise my opinion of him

TooT LOL at overly feminine
that would not have been my description

OP posts:
Boco · 07/05/2008 16:21

Toot that's sad. And bad. Luckily you can look feminine and pretty in anything.

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 16:22

I think if I wear things that are NOT pretty people will notice what a minger I am

I am sure it works [deluded]

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 16:23

did the Education officer delay their visit TooT?

OP posts:
ladywombling · 07/05/2008 16:25

Franny, red shoes!!!, my favourite kind. They look dead comfy too.

TooT, don't worry, you are so small and perfectly formed, you would look pretty and feminine in anything. Kids can be so cruel, can't they. I used to be spat at and have stones thrown at me fo being different, it makes you feel so rubbish, even years later.

TooTicky · 07/05/2008 16:27

I am also scared that I have no taste, according to other people, who might laugh. So I tend to stick to things that are either heavily practical or so much to my (slightly tomboyish, slightly hippyish) taste that I don't care what other people think.

EWO - yes, I phoned in the morning, said we'd been all up in the air because of ds2 and hospital, said we were basically unprepared for that day, and could we send in a report instead. So I am. I have two weeks. Don't let me forget, will you?

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 16:28

jesus god wombling
that is the pits, I am sorry

TooT is lovely and feminine without needing to try
in a good strong woman kind of way

I have never had red suede shoes before
I am quite happy
I have had red patent leather shoes when i was a child, and red velvet chinese slippers when I was a student, but slugs crawled on them and I could never wear them again

OP posts:
TooTicky · 07/05/2008 16:28

O no Wombling, that is horrible. I remember the awfulness when a big boy spat in my face

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2008 16:29

TooT don't forget your report

well you have good taste in shoes TooT
even if you bought the dull colour
but they were fab shoes anyway

OP posts:
TooTicky · 07/05/2008 16:30

I once had little red boots, sort of pixie-ish, with little star shapes cut out of them. I adored them

I don't feel very feminine y'know, not in a clothes and glamour kind of way, because I'm not. I'm feminine in a having babies and making milk kind of way. Don't know what happens when dcs get a bit older.

TooTicky · 07/05/2008 16:31

at dull colour. What colour did you suggest Franny? I can't remember.

TooTicky · 07/05/2008 16:32

Okkay, must let ds1 have computer. He is about to start emitting steam from his ears.
