For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Is it nice to have your house to yourself though? Or lonely.

zippitippitoes · 06/05/2008 18:37

i dont know yet

starnge to go from being with all to none in quite a short time i think

its quite a big house for one person

Boco · 06/05/2008 18:40

dd has had a friend to play. She borrowed some of dd's clothes to play out in - she picked a dress and a cardigan. Her mother just arrived to pick her up and said 'what the hell do you look like in those clothes - a GYPPO that's what!' This is the woman I whose hair I can't get past. We really don't like each other do we.

I have had a vegtastic day.
aubergine
courgette
green beans
peppers
tomatoes
cucumber
lettuce
carrots
onion
strawberries
grapes
apples

zippitippitoes · 06/05/2008 18:41

{shock]

i wouldnt be seeing her again what an awful thing to say or think for that matter

wierdo

UnderRated · 06/05/2008 18:42

How very rude, Boco. Brilliant list.

Enjoy the peace and quiet for now, zippi.

I am going to chop up a pineapple.

MrsCarrot · 06/05/2008 18:49

If I didn't know you, Boco, I almost wouldn't believe some of the things people say in your village. That is so extraordinarily insulting and rude to you and your dd on your own doorstep after you had her to play that it beggers belief. You should have sprung into a wild dance and sung 'gyppo, gyppo, come to see what we can whippo', and then crooned, 'lavender for sale, or some luvverly curses.'

Of course your dd has to go to school so you can't. Shall we put a curse on her anyway?

I had lemon and pepper prawns for lunch with avocado, mixed leaves and cherry tomato salad, more fruit salad this afternoon and just about to have roast chicken with green beans, carrots, sun blush tomatoes, salad and artichokes.

lullabyloo · 06/05/2008 18:51

& Boco...what a vile woman

Boco · 06/05/2008 18:55

This is the woman who has had it in for me since the bday table - it was her dd who had the party. Our dds are really good friends atm, which is a problem. We really really don't like each other though. At all. I don't think we could find any common ground at all even if we tried really hard. The gypo dance would have just confirmed everything she thinks of me I think. She made some snide comment about how she's much stricter with her dd than I am with mine - but her dd is SO rude, really really rude. I'll stop ranting about her now.

UnderRated · 06/05/2008 18:55

The Gypsy travellers I taught always wore fancy designer clothes anyway. I'd sometimes see them in the city selling lavender but they'd suddenly become shy and would wave at me then hide.

MrsC, your food sounds delicious.

UnderRated · 06/05/2008 18:56

She sounds awful, Boco.

MrsCarrot · 06/05/2008 18:59

then laughter is the key, slightly fixed icy smile and a 'yes, I think we have very different tastes and parenting styles' and show the whites of your eyes a little more while doing a double eyebrow lift.

Ooo MrsC, you sound like you could be scary. I like that!

TooTicky · 06/05/2008 22:23

Kinda fine? Is that really fine or are you just being brave?

berolina · 06/05/2008 22:26

Boco what a hideous woman and what a hideous comment.

Zippi! Nice to see you back.

1 1/2 bananas, apple, sunflower seeds, apple juice, orange pepper, plus this evening I made mushroom and yellow-pepper tagliatelle with sage from the botanic garden* (bought in a pot, not plucked illegally, I hasten to add) in a cream and white wine sauce.
*Spent two magical hours there with the boys this afternoon. A whole pond of frogs singing away. Grass paths so covered with daisies that they were more white than green. ds1 just so into it all. ds2 grabbing a handful of blossom. Atm I am almost reconciled to our gardenless state.

TooTicky · 06/05/2008 22:28

You are making me very jealous of your botanic garden. I want one.

OsmosisBanana · 06/05/2008 23:25

I've been gone and no-one has missed me. How very dare you.

Went to Oxford to see old school friends. It was ace. I feel foolish for having left it so long.

I drank my own body weight in gin.

And wine.

And beer.

Sadly the F&V was not forthcoming - she lives with a chinese dude who BBQ's well, but apprently their MO is 'if it moves, eat it'.

Also he attempted a coleslaw type affair with kohlrabi. Big mistake. I spent the whole meal sniffing my feet thinking I stank.
