For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

The tying legs together thing, isn't that because during labour your pain barriers are a bit skewed so you may not be so aware of boundaries. A loop of string to remind you that further than that would usually hurt?

I think that physio does sound a bit bonkers. Was she a specialist obs physio?

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2008 21:43

yes that's right, you test how far your legs can go then tie a ribbon to remind you not to go further
but the physio and midwife are saying giving birth will be fine and I needn't worry about it

they don't have specialist obs physios at my hospital any more they did when I had ds, they were fab

That's how my mate gave birth. If the knees are raised then there's plenty of room, apparantly.

Here you go

Mary Cronk birth story extract

She was initially on her r. side then turned to her l. She continued to keep her knees together with just a thin pillow stopping them rubbing together.

Andrya joined me and we watched with that feeling of awe that I still get after 30 odd years, as the perineum bulged, the labia parted, and the little head slowly emerged still in the membranes, at 11.30, Mum's knees still together.

avi they are trying to fix it by manipulating my wonky pelvis which they say is making my ligaments misaligned kind of thing

they are quite right about the wonky pelvis, it was the same with ds which was what caused the back ache
this time is messing with my pelvis

How lovely, Boco and MamaBoco.

Sorry you're in pain, avi and sympathy to Franny for frustrating day. I had an inappropriate smile at notion of notorious SPD crutches woman too.

Thinking of TooT - hope all is well.

I have been juggling ds2 with painting a mural (except it's not a mural, is it, because it's not a wall) onto ds1's new Ikea chest of drawers.

zippitippitoes · 28/04/2008 21:46

i am sorry i am taking this seriously

glad you lolled franny

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2008 21:46

avi she seemed very uninterested tbh
I had better not think about it or I shall have another slump about it

I did read your email and was marvellous
I just don't know how to reconcile all conflicting advice

OP posts:
berolina · 28/04/2008 21:49

Made a zebra? How?

I am not quite finished but quite pleased with it. I only have crap Ikea brushes and ds2 was wont to disturb my creative flow, and I am not the most artistic person really, but I think it is looking good. ds1 smiled when he saw it

zippitippitoes · 28/04/2008 21:50

sounds lovely bero

BBBee · 28/04/2008 21:51

S1ur · 28/04/2008 21:53

Really it is fine Franny. It's just a pain, scuse pun. And will melt away instantly after birth My mate (the one who gave birth on her side) found yoga helped afterwards, gentle yoga. SHe runs 10k now

Oh and btw naysayers, this mate's child has an enormous usually generous head. He is such a lovely bigheaded boy, really, one of my favourites actually.

I'll ask her about it tomorrow.

S1ur · 28/04/2008 21:55

Zebra was made from junk and pipe cleaners. It was Lovely, done when ds was sleeping. dd dubbed it Zeddy the super Zebra who swoops in and saves other animals. He is a rescue zebra. I think he should have a cape actually.
