For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oi Franzo, have emailed you!!!

Boco · 28/04/2008 19:22

I'm glad it was helpful MrsC. I could still hear my mum saying something about foreplay while I was vigorously stirring the salad so I marched into the dining room and picked up her hysterectomy diary and opened that and read some graphic details and quickly put it down and stared at the nice flowers for a while.

It was funny she said she'd called her boss to say she wouldn't be around today as she was visiting a family friend - and then realised that explaining it was someone she only knew as 'mrs carrot' who her daughter had met on the internet would sound highly strange.

MrsC really glad you feel reassured after today

FrayedKnot · 28/04/2008 20:34

Hi everyone

TooT I hope DS2 is OK

LL well done, that's great news.

MrsC, glad your GP was reassuring and Boco's mum sounds like a real star, I hope you found it all helpful and are feeling better about things. Lol at having to tell boss about meeting a Mrs Carrot.

FRanny hwat did physio say?

I agree about needing to have a frequently refreshed dialogue with one's DP about boundaries etc as DCs get older. Am finding that with DH, sometimes, DS is getting very adept at doing the "Mummy can I do x" and I say yes without realizing DH has just said no, or vice versa

Then of course DS is triumphant

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2008 21:12

Mama Boco is our hero
can we give her a badge?

physio did more twiddling on my back and pelvis and I am a bit sore and stiff and tired and discouraged, but it hasn't been the greatest day
we had nasty crossness this morning with ds having problems, and then I had to rush to midwife, and then I had to rush to physio, and then when i was kind of looking forward to the bus ride home with my book, ds and dp appeared in the car park having driven to pick me up, as ds had fallen badly and cut both knees and had a nervous breakdown and missed gymnastics
he was really making a huge deal about it and finding it very hard to cope with but luckily dp was there and managed it all
I then escaped to M+S and bought a new bra, some new pants, some socks, and some pjs
all of which I desperately needed, and they fit! hurrah!
then bought 2 packs of beetroot (digestion still totally wrong since probiotic yogurt but has now gone other way) and checkout man said "I hope that is not a craving you are having hur hur HUR" so I said firmly "NO it is for my bowels actually"
I hope he squirmed but I marched off before I could see

oh midwife said she has only ever known ONE woman with SPD bad enough to end up on crutches
I am starting to think there is only one woman with SPD on crutches, but everybody knows her
was it you TooT? do you know everyone?

and am a bit at physio
they have not given me any exercises to do and when i said I had read that certain exercises could help, they gave me one to do with one leg in the air - but I am not meant to spread my legs?
does anyone know what exercises are meant to help, as googling asserts that they exist but then it just goes into crutches type territory again

but perhaps there has been enough sharing and questioning on that topic today

Franny I'm googling so you don't have to.

Didn't you ask about positions for birth.

All fours, kneeling or standing.

BTW I am using a midwifery site so not just random nutters.

Will get on to sex forthwith.

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2008 21:38

avi oh no

slur you are v kind
everyone I have spoken to says "oh no it will HELP you during birth"
then I google and it says "you will permanently injure your pelvis you must tie your legs together"
am slightly confused tbh

avi most sites refer to specific exercises rather than just exercise
the physio said bring up one knee and raise to chest
that is bonkers isn't it? I am meant to keep knees together surely?

OP posts:
S1ur · 28/04/2008 21:40

Ah ha yes sex!

Apparantly another birth position is lying on left side with knees together and as high up as is comfortable.

I think this sounds pretty good for sex too.

Re the exercise limiting times when one leg is higher like dashing up and down stairs might reduce pain a bit and gentle walking and swimming.

Oooh also maybe consider a water birth?

Hello Avi and Zippi.

Ouch AVi.

zippitippitoes · 28/04/2008 21:40

oh avi how horrid dont worry i have things to post to franny and toot and havent been out was busy with ds trying to do stuff for me his plumbing thing for the bath doenst fit

zippitippitoes · 28/04/2008 21:41

how can a birth position be lying on your side with knees together

surely the most you could give birth to then would be a borrower or flat stanley

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2008 21:43

Avi what can you do about your back?

Slur can you really imagine giving birth like that? I am just in horror
all the websites say stuff like that and then the midwife says "oh no it will be fine"
I don't know what to think
