Is there a strange virus going around?

This is a really odd one!
started on Friday with a very sudden sore throat. Low grade fever overnight, woke to awful muscle pains, neck ache and a general feeling of low level unwell.
Saturday felt off with a running nose and aches and pains. Kept feeling warm and waves of nausea. Overnight into Sunday stomach pains started with diarrhoea and nausea, snotty nose, shivery, headache.
Symptoms are coming and going, feel a bit better one minute then headachey and off the next. Every time I eat I get stomach cramps and loose stool. Not positive for Covid (old tests tho).

It’s the stomach issues that are unusual, it’s like a low level flu bug but with a bad stomach too.

Anyone else have this?

Flu did peak early this year - up 350% on admissions. I’m still struggling. The fluey feeling (anyone else?) comes in the afternoons. I’m about 7 weeks in but I think I’ve had a couple viruses inside that time. But my DM has students and apparently they’ve all been down for 5-9 weeks so whatever it is isn’t particularly kind. I’m better than I was at points - it’s just incredibly slow. Dd (3) looks so washed out I’m taking her to the GP next week. She’s also been constantly poorly. No positive covid tests. Think it’s probably actually not covid but a virulent flu.

Mine is worse in the afternoon too- in terms of exhaustion and feeling unwell. I have often woke up and declared myself better. Only to go downhill in the afternoon.

Could well have been flu. To be fair in the past flu has taken me down for longer than Covid.

My youngest who’s preteen age tested positive for Covid today. I’ve no idea if I’ve had Covid or flu anymore, but I do know what whatever it is, it’s vicious and my immune system is really struggling to fight it off.

Well either I’ve caught something else or it’s come back again. I’m getting massively worried about my immune system at the moment. Anyone else know people who have had this rebound again and again??

I have. I am in bed again today. I was first ill in September, had a few weeks of feeling ok but got ill 2 weeks ago, felt a little better and now feel awful again. I don't understand it either and am so tired of feeling ill now. It is mainly nausea and exhaustion. I have no appetite today either.

Dh has exactly that @Colourbrain. He is also back in bed today after two days feeling a bit better. He is rarely ill but whatever this is is flooring him

I totally understand @Colourbrain. I don’t think I’ve seen more than 4 weeks without a virus the last 12 months. It’s demoralising. I rarely get fevers but this one started low grade also in Sept - then I felt a bit better, walking wounded, then October it came back and gave me fevers and sweats, and since then it’s been either exhausted or flu symptoms/cough etc etc. I am getting better. Today I managed to actually get the shopping in without feeling like I wanted to die. 10 days ago I couldn’t leave the house at all. But it’s horrible. Also everyone around me has had on and off viral symptoms.

It's helpful to hear others have similar experiences. Hopefully we will all feel better soon. x

I think we all need to go & spend a few weeks at a Swiss Sanatorium as invalids.

I know… I’ve had day dreams about someone coming to drive me to the coast, wheel me out to the beach so I can sit there and take in her sea air! Chance would be a fine thing.

I’ve had glimpses of normal life again today, but brief ones. Feel like a shell again tonight… really done with this. So done.

Me too, I would love to sit in some warm sunshine wrapped in a blanket in a comfy chair looking at a beautiful view. I was improving but then my elderly Dad caught it and was bad yesterday so I ended up getting a taxi to his to check on him because he was so short of breath and it wore me out. My tonsils are also huge and sore again with what looks like possibly some pus so GP tomorrow.

If it helps I live next to the sea - was sat in the sea air (in the car window open😬) and i still felt like total shite. So it doesn’t help 😂

It’s the sitting & meals being brought & roaring fires & nothing to do but read we all need.

Yeah… someone regulating my fluids and offering sips of water etc would’ve been lovely… fanning and grapes also… The reality was sadly much different!

I can offer a roaring fire, reading material and I make a mean fresh ginger, honey and lemon special brew. We could have a virtual sanatorium?

I’ve just caught a virus which consists of aches plus sore throat and cough. I’ve been battling a sniffy nose but not unwell and it just came on and my parents have it too, think we may have caught it when we saw each other.

After thinking I was all better and get overexcited in back on the sofa again. Aching, exhausted, nausea, eyeballs bloodshot and yucky. So don’t be like me and overdo it when you feel a bit better… problem is you only know you’ve overdone it after the fact….

I don't have stomach symptoms but the rest yes. Sudden onset. Sore throat. Lost my voice. Temperature, stuffed up head and nose, aches and pains. I'm off work with it and just hoping I can shake it off for Christmas. Wondered about Covid too but tested negative. It was a stray old test that I still had though.

Forgot about the cough from hell that keeps me up half the night

Yeah I’m feeling worried about Xmas a bit as I’ve not started any shopping. I don’t have many to buy for at least, and I am going to family for lunch - so that is a big help. But the thought of standing in queues and mustering the stamina to go and get things feels scary at the moment.
I guess I could do it online, but I don’t have Prime so I’ll be paying delivery charges.
ugh, very depressing. Excuse me while I have my mini pity party yet again, even I’m bored of it now after so many weeks.
