For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

We ate quite a lot of fruit and vegetables over the weekend I think. We are generally eating a bit better at the moment.

Did my third lot of week 1 "running". I don't like the sound of week 2 being worse UR. I will pretend I didn't read that .

And hello Bero . I think your DS1 is called a name that we might have called DD, had she turned out to be DS2.

berolina · 21/04/2008 10:07

Hello everyone It is a lovely name (even-if-I-say-so-myself), isn't it, Idris?

Oh dear UR. It did take him a whiile to get the message. Difficult with him living in your building too. Be pointedly civil-but-chilly.

zippi, we haven't turned our heating off yet, spring or no spring - I need to be warm. Smiling at exdp seeing you, and agree with Franny.

Oh dear Franny hope you are OK. Wish I could beam a birthing ball from Berlin. (I do like a bit of alliteration in a morning ).

Sesame rolls with cucumber, OJ, banana.

Hello lovelies

I was hungry so have just had an early lunch - salad with tomatoes and avocado, and some carrots and hoummous

Zippi and Bero I still have the heating on too. It is cold! It was a cold spring when ds was born, I remember getting up to him during the night in May, and having to put a cardi on him because it was freezing!

Franny I hope you get some help at the physio. I also have a big birthing ball you can have a lend of if Boco can't find hers.

Fullmoonfiend · 21/04/2008 12:52

I have been down allotment and witnessed a strange phenomenon - a huge yellow glowing orb in the sky and suddenly, the air all around got rather warm. Do you think it was a UFO?

lullabyloo · 21/04/2008 13:00
Hmm
lullabyloo · 21/04/2008 13:01

it wasn't that strange thing I believe they call the sun was it?

no..silly thought

Fullmoonfiend · 21/04/2008 13:04

ah well, whatever it was, it's gone....
I'm sure I've seen it before. Once.

Boco · 21/04/2008 13:47

Sorry birthing ball vanished, have looked in shed and loft - must've given it away and forgotten. Sorry about that.

Dp is ill in bed again - bit worried about him this time though, every time he tries to stand up he has terrible vertigo and can't walk - been in bed for 24 hours, not eating or drinking, just grunting if I go and shout questions at him. Couldn't get dd2 to preschool this morning so I took her out for lunch with a friend instead. It's sunny and warm here.

lullabyloo · 21/04/2008 14:02

Oh dear Boco

Dh gets that..they tested his ears & Bp
it comes & goes but cant find out what causes it.

is he going to see the doc?

pear,raspberries,strawberries,melon
porridge with apple & cinnamon

massive little gem,rocket,cabbage,spring onion,carrot,tomato,avocado,cucumber,beetroot,red & yellow pepper,cress,kidney bean salad
& whole tub of sunblush tomatoes

TooTicky · 21/04/2008 14:06

fruit cake
small shard of carrot

lullabyloo · 21/04/2008 14:06

dd2 wouldn't go?
or couldn't physically get there?

ds practically ran to nursery this morning
& shot in without a goodbye as usual

spent an hour on the phone to school/infant admissions trying to get somewhere about appealing
but it's like banging your head against a brick wall

lullabyloo · 21/04/2008 14:07

lol Toot

EAT for goodness sake
none of this shard business

Boco · 21/04/2008 14:09

No couldn't physically get there as dp couldn't get up, let alone drive her to preschool in the next village, and there's no public transport. She wanted to go very much. Oh well we've had a nice day.

I wondered about inner ear thing too Lully - does you dh have really bad joints when this happens? Dp says everything hurts - so sounds like flu. He can't get to gp as he is now. Will see if he's any better tomorrow.

Tatties · 21/04/2008 15:52

It's not labyrinthitis is it Boco?

stuffitllama · 21/04/2008 15:57

Boco so sorry about your dp..

if labyrinthitis is an infection of the inner ear it does sound a bit like that, but I think real flu can also make you dizzy, it is so debilitating

Boco · 21/04/2008 17:16

I did wonder about that as my mum had it. I think this is flu, but it's weird because he had the same thing over a week ago and was in bed for 3 days. Not meaning to sound suspicious, as I can clearly see he's ill, he's very very pale and a bit out of it - but odd he should get it twice in two weeks.

S1ur · 21/04/2008 17:23

Boco, sorry to heear about dp. I've been dizzy like that with flu, and had a bit of respite in the middle too. I put it down to a relapse from doing too much too soon.

Apples, tomatoes, pear, spinach, grapes, was planning stew affair but weather's too nice for that, think it'll be something salady instead.

stuffitllama · 21/04/2008 17:25

a serious ear infection could linger if he's the type to get up and about and think he's better when he isn't .. hope he gets to a doctor this time boco
hi slur

Boco · 21/04/2008 17:30

Feel a bit bad as in between I went away for 3 days and left him to look after the girls. Maybe it's a flu relapse.

I am being totally 10/10 atm! [proud]

grapes
raisins
lettuce (loads)
dried apricots
dried figs
sugar snap peas
baby corn
yellow pepper
tomatoes
cucumber
blueberries

= 11. for third day running. I want a badge.

stuffitllama · 21/04/2008 17:33

here you go boco

Boco · 21/04/2008 17:34

Thank you Stuffit!

I'm going to print it out and fashion it into a fancy rosette.

stuffitllama · 21/04/2008 17:36

am never going to reach 10 10 in foreseeable future because i've just been told we are moving again and my stomach is in my mouth

great move, great news, dh so happy, but death to appetite
but if I eat anything it WILL be vegetables!

stuffitllama · 21/04/2008 17:37

fashion it
lol that's your artistic talk for you!

Boco · 21/04/2008 17:37

Are you pleased about it? Where are you moving to? How soon?
