For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

zippi - you are on a down and sprialling You can think like this if you like but you have to acknowledge this isn;t true don;t you.

Okay?

eternalstudent · 16/04/2008 10:14

I think you should come and live with me Bbbee andhave words with me when I'm bad ( fairly frequently)

TooTicky · 16/04/2008 10:14

Oh Zippi, I know that worry and stress-induced mental fuzz and not being able to remember things.
The work I was doing for a bit - I'm pretty sure we have actually lost money by doing it which is making me feel very and and I don't see what I can actually do that will help.
Because we get a certain amount of housing benefit and council tax benefit and it would appear that they have shat upon us and I don't understand it and the paperwork is too complicated

TooTicky · 16/04/2008 10:16

Ziuppi, the thing is, what always strikes me about you is that you have lots of interests and you're always doing things - climbing and gardening and studying and working on houses and you cold never, ever be a failure.

TooTicky · 16/04/2008 10:17

ES, I would love SO SO SO much to go to Beautiful Days but I can't see it happening without a financial miracle of some kind

But yes, let's have a west country meet

ahundredtimes · 16/04/2008 10:23

Anyway what is failure Zippi? Is it not having enough money? I don't think so.

ahundredtimes · 16/04/2008 10:24

Am SO PROUD to be bottom of the list.

Down at the bottom it's all coffee and cheese and the odd satsuma. Mind you, no carbs sadly.

MrsCarrot · 16/04/2008 10:26

Be kind to yourself at the moment, zippi, and remember how you've soldiered on admirably despite all the shit that life has thrown at you. Can you employ any tactics that have helped in the past when you are aware of the change in mood?

My meal last night was delicious, I had dosa which is from Southern India, it's like a two foot pancake full of dry curry and there are lots of little dips and chutneys to accompany it. There was also Keralan fish curry and sizzling tandoori platters. Mmmm.

eternalstudent · 16/04/2008 10:27

Is there an actual list in circulation yet? I reckon I must be in with a chance of stealing the bottom feeders title from 100

ahundredtimes · 16/04/2008 10:28

Nope. I have taken up position and will not be moved. Am celebrating with high end cocktails and cigarettes.

eternalstudent · 16/04/2008 10:30

My legs are still fricking agony from running on Monday. I am going to make myself go again this evening.

We are going to some yoghurt weavers house for dinner tonight, we have to leave by 7 as they are going to a drumming workshop afterwards!!

I thought they might have stopped that kind of behaviour.... Still flying the flag for all lentil sharpeners though.

eternalstudent · 16/04/2008 10:34

I shall celebrate with snakebite in a plastic pint glass and roll ups. Maybe even a happy meal.

MrsCarrot · 16/04/2008 10:34

Oh good, will they be those pretty little multi coloured cigarettes that Aitch likes? What are they called beginning with D?

I didn't eat any carbs with dinner for a week and I put weight on. Do you think eating lots of toats in the morning with peanut butter counteracts it somewhat? I know the answer.

Boco - stop nursing your head or sleeping or whatever and fill us in.

ahundredtimes · 16/04/2008 10:36

Soubranie? With the gold filter? You could get black russian or soubranie cocktails I think. In a tin.

ahundredtimes · 16/04/2008 10:37

I must go and be useful.

Your supper sounded lovely MrsC. You always describe food very well - as I understand you do cardigans too.

Hope you are okay Zip.

MrsCarrot · 16/04/2008 10:39

Soubranie - that was it! Beginning with D?

Yes, lets be useful, I am still in my dressing gown like a slattern.

ladywombling · 16/04/2008 11:08

OOh Mrs C,

Masala Dosa, Yum, I am jealous, it is my fave south indian food, although there it is a breakfast dish. The way they make it is fab, really skilled. The pancake is made with fermented rice flour, and expert Dosa makers spread the batter onto the griddle with their hands! It is a bit of a carb fest & that is why I love it, filled with dry potato curry and served with coconut and coriander chutney and runny dahl.

I want my lunch now, typical.

ladywombling · 16/04/2008 11:13

Oh Zippi,

You sound very low at the moment. How do you normally manage your moods when you get like this? You sound like you are getting very busy, and doing lots to stop you thinking. Are you making yourself get any rest?

You are not a failure

I always feel you are so inspiring, trying new things out, and being so creative with your life. BBBee speaks sense The fact that you have tried so much shows how resilient and successful you are IMHO.

littlerach · 16/04/2008 11:29

Zippi, you are actually one of the posters who sepaks the most sense on MN.

You are very good at it.

I am sorry you are feeling so rubbish - what can you do to get out of it?

Ypu always seem to have lots going on, and lots of fun.

West country meet up......I may nee dot increase my F&V intake to participate

Whenever I type F&V I almost type D&V.

rather different i htink.

Am cooking butternut squash rissoito.
mmmm.

stuffitllama · 16/04/2008 12:45

Zippi I'm so sorry to read all that about you feeling a failure.. you're not a failure as a human being when you're as kind-hearted, refreshing, get up and dust yourself down as you are. Gosh I hardly know you and you seem like a fighter to me.. trying is not failing.. NOT trying is more of a failure..
I hope you are feeling better. If you feel like a change of scene come for a continental jaunt the sun is often shining here when it's raining in the UK (true! -- even though so near..)

MrsCarrot · 16/04/2008 13:15

I have just been speaking to my friend who had her baby boy this morning. He was gurgling down the phone and I felt very broody. She woke her husband up with stitch like pains at 5am and baby was born at 7.30 on the bathroom floor, even the doula didn't get there in time! Very pleased for her, he's gorgeous. I knew it was a boy.

I am eating beetroot and dill soup with watercress, it's very nice. I have given with the 26 wotsits, I can't concentrate on it.

MrsCarrot · 16/04/2008 13:16

oh, and 10lbs 8oz without a stitch. Made my eyes water to think of it.

lullabyloo · 16/04/2008 13:24

zippi and failure are not words that sit well together
i am sorry you are feeling so low my lovely

I am constantly astounded at how much you have overcome, your amazing spirit, vitality & determination
