Going to go and drown in a wee voddy this evening Even when im at my most hormonal im not itching for a fag...its bloody good(bet ill be gasping tommorow isnt that always the way when you write something positive here?!)
I was reading about the hypnotherapy NLP its called....and the woman said when you feel like that take the right path....so it was a visual and a erm...well you know the right path...the left was the one that had me smoking and my kids round my hospital bed and I think it must have worked as this has been a while and this must be the best bash ive had yet in terms of mental strength if not length of quit.
Long may it continue....just thinking out loud on here by the way so the thread doesnt look so empty....had my mum going on about the bloke in the chippy whos relatives have all pegged it whilst hes smoked and drank and is alive....oh gawd...Give OVER!!!!!!

hi guys, sorry i haven't been around lately! sis came to stay yesterday (gone now) but due to time of the month am sorely lacking in energy. cc, you are so motivated and i think it's you who keeps us all going you should be v. proud of yourself, always trying to source ways in which we can all keep at it!

off for my shower now and bed, just wanted to let you know that you're not the ONLY one here! OI THE REST OF YOU, come and keep us company!!!!!

minkmama · 25/01/2005 22:51

fee77, i think it's quite unfortunate that you now have unlimited access to mnet and none of us are around!! i think most of us check in to read even if we haven't got time to type! you're doing really well xx

charliecat · 26/01/2005 08:24

Do not carry cigarettes.
Quit smoking one day at a time. Do not concern yourself with next year, next month, next week or even tomorrow. Concentrate on not smoking from the time you wake up until you go to sleep.
Work on developing the attitude that you are doing yourself a favor by not smoking. Do not dwell on the idea that you are depriving yourself of a cigarette. You are ridding yourself of full-fledged smoking because you care enough about yourself to want to.
Be proud that you are not smoking.
Be aware that many routine situations will trigger the urge for a cigarette. Situations which will trigger a response include: drinking coffee, alcohol, sitting in a bar, social events with smoking friends, card games, the end of meals. Try to maintain your normal routine while quitting. If any event seems too tough, leave it and go back to it later. Do not feel you must give up any activity forever. Everything you did as a smoker, you will learn to do at least as well, and maybe better, as an ex-smoker.
Make a list of all the reasons you want to quit smoking. Keep this list with you, preferably where you used to carry your cigarettes. When you find yourself reaching for a cigarette, take out your list and read it.
Drink plenty of fruit juice the first three days. It will help flush nicotine out of your system.
To help avoid weight gain, eat vegetables and fruit instead of candies and pastries. Celery and carrots can be used safely as short-term substitutes for cigarettes.
If you are concerned about weight gain, do some moderate form of regular exercise. If you have not been exercising regularly, consult your physician for a practical exercise program which is safe for you.
If you encounter a crisis, (e.g. a flat tire, flood, blizzard, family illness) while quitting, remember, smoking is no solution. Smoking will just complicate the original situation while creating another crisis, a relapse into the nicotine addiction.
Consider yourself a ?smoke-a-holic.? One puff and you can become hooked again. No matter how long you have been off, don't think you can safely take a puff!
Don't debate with yourself how much you want a cigarette. Ask yourself how do you feel about going back to your old level of consumption. Smoking is an all or nothing proposition.
Save the money you usually spend on cigarettes and buy yourself something you really want after a week or a month. Save for a year and you can treat yourself to a vacation.
Practice deep breathing exercises when you have a craving.
Go places where you normally can't smoke, such as movies, libraries and no smoking sections of restaurants.
Tell people around you that you have quit smoking.
Remember that there are only two good reasons to take a puff once you quit. You decide you want to go back to your old level of consumption until smoking cripples and then kills you, or, you decide you really enjoy withdrawal and you want to make it last forever. As long as neither of these options appeal to you - NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF

Hello again...I copied and pasted that for this weeks bit of drivvle from me
And I have come back to warn fee of the 3/4 week thingy that has got all of us once or twice...you get to nearly a month and something starts telling you itll be ok to have just one, that youve got this far...one wont do anyharm....
DONT do it....been there done, it poisons your brain and after just one wee smoke you then find yourself wondering when you can fit another in...and what would be a good excuse to have another. When could you obtain a fag and smoke it without anyone knowing? So come and bash at the keyboard here and tell us how its goin. Dont let it beat you!

fee77 · 26/01/2005 12:35

Hi Charlie, and thanks for the warning. Both DH and i are amazed at how "easy" it has been to stop smoking this time - usually one of us caves in and drags the other down! Iloved the last bit of your post
"Remember that there are only two good reasons to take a puff once you quit. You decide you want to go back to your old level of consumption until smoking cripples and then kills you, or, you decide you really enjoy withdrawal and you want to make it last forever. As long as neither of these options appeal to you - NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF " I think i need to print that out and keep it with me. My FiL has just quit smoking after 45 years - apparently his insperation was DD. I wish him all the best. It's funny as they never knew Dh and i smoked, and he keeps going on about it, and how hard it is etc!
Oh and i just thought of another positive for not smoking - you don't have to pick up all the dog ends off the patio if someone is coming round. Now that was a nasty job!

fionagib · 26/01/2005 15:08

Iknow what you mean fee! That made me feel VERY lowly.
sorry have not been around folks, am up to neck with work - going away for one of them work weekends on fri to finally knock this book on the head. Kiddie colds (and mine) have put me well behind but am trying not to panic and AM NOT SMOKING!! Have not even the urge. I love that cc, you'd rather eat one than smoke one! have also not drunk since my p*ss up on sat night and am feeling really good. dh's birthday week on sat though, am looking forward to a big drink fuelled night then.

well done everyone, you are doing BRILLIANTLY. Isn't it just the best thing to be free. aren't we great!!! xxxx

charliecat · 26/01/2005 16:16

I have a ditch in the garden for fag ends...no patio to clean, just a ditch full of them...im surprised you can still see the ground underneath actually.
Well Done on your FIL...I told my mum hoping to inspire her but no...sadly.
FG bash that book out so we can read it!

charliecat · 27/01/2005 09:26

DD1 has been throwing up all night I woke up at 7 this morning needing a stiff drink more than a fag! Gawd...told ya id curse myslelf....had to ring in nursery say I couldnt go in and now im housebound with the dds for the whole day.....AAARRRGGGGHHHHHH....how I ever stayed at home with 2 babies/toddlers/children for ...er 5 years without doing anything else astonishes me. It really does. Now it grates on me to be in my jimjams with nothing important to aim for!
My nose is getting more and more sensitive to the reek of fags and dp smells decidedly unattractive...like revolting actually...is there anything I can feed him so that something better than fag reek comes out of his pores? He smells like a wet ashtray...erggghhhh
Whinge.....

OP posts:
fee77 · 27/01/2005 09:56

oh you poor thing!! I hate being housebound, but at least it's a cold and nasty day!
I know what you mean about the smell - DHhad his hair cut yesterday, and came home reeking of fags. I made him get changed! Can you get him to suck mints and use aftershave?
I have to say that id do love smelling normal - iused to hate walking into mums and toddlers - i thought they could smell it on me! Fags that is!!

charliecat · 27/01/2005 10:06

I didnt really give it a thought\care\know....how much I REEKED and thought once id abandoned the fag noone would know but EEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW its bad isnt it?
Tell you whats sad, a lot of the kids from nursery come in reeking of smoke...they smell like mini wet ashtrays. I havent figured if its clothes hanging to dry in smoky house or kids just been trapped in 4x4 with smoking parent.
How you doing today?

OP posts:
fee77 · 27/01/2005 10:16

In my past life as a teacher, the kids reading books used to stink, and i just got a letter about an ebay item and that reeked - you just don't realise!
I am doing well today so far i have cleaned the bathroom and made minestrone soup. I am feeling guilty about being on the computer, but DD is hooked on teletubbies at the moment! And i will be a good mummy and take her to the library later. How is DD1? Still being sick> It is awful when they are ill - i hope ie doesn't go round the family.

charliecat · 27/01/2005 10:49

Both my dds are glued to 1 gameboy and whilst they are im leaving them too it(bad mummy)..im surprised i didnt get bad feedback for my smelly stuff sold on ebay. I used to sit puffing away whilst wrapping it up..

OP posts:
fee77 · 27/01/2005 14:27

How's it going?
I am fed up and desperate for a fag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Due to DD teething i have hardly been out this week, and today i had planned to take her to bounce and rhyme at the library, but seeing as she would not have a nap, we have had to miss it! I haven't spoken to an adult (except DH!?) since tuesday. I nipped to the post office, where in the massive queue DD lost it, there were some tuts but a couple of ladies were really nice and tried to entertain DD - that has made me feel worse as i just couldn't be arsed playing and i felt like a really bad mum. I know i fag wont make her teething stop or make me feel that much better, but boy do i want one!

charliecat · 27/01/2005 14:30

Is 15months to young for a dose of cbeebies with mummy laying on the sofa glued to it too

OP posts:
fee77 · 27/01/2005 14:44

She has gone to sleep at last! I have borrowed a girly movie from the library so may just lie on the sofa and watch that!

fee77 · 27/01/2005 20:18

Yippee i have got through the day - even with DH texting "do you want fags!" Wine isopen, laptop is out and only 45 mins till ER.
Hope everyone else is ok, and your DD has recovered cc.

charliecat · 27/01/2005 22:32

Why was Dh texting do you want fags???? hought hed given up???? Youll be glued to ER by now...welll done for surviving...you know the books all say One day at a time ...and when your in a good moment you think NAH.....forever...but when your having shit moment one day at a time is a good motto, as byt the time you wake up in the morning you will be very pleased you got over your struggle and are waking up clean, fresh and fag free for the day

OP posts:
fee77 · 28/01/2005 08:22

Thanks Charliecat - i am really pleased with myself! Dh is supportive, i think he does it to test me! Hope your little girl is ok. I am off to a soft play thing today so should tire DD out, all ready for a peaceful afternoon!

fionagib · 28/01/2005 08:55

hope your dd is much better now cc, what a hellish night you had.

This must be a massive turning point realising that people and their belongings reek of fags. I used to have my 'last' one just before picking up kids from school/nursery - you know, cramming in just one more - and clean my teeth but must've still stunk.

am away from this afternoon till sunday girls, so good luck, although I know you won't puff!

have a great weekend girls & hope the teething improves fee! not an easy stage is it, esp when weather is crap & you're trapped indoors.

my dh has been working terrible shifts all week and is in sole charge of kids all w'end, he is gonna be KNACKERED. btw have relaxed my no drinking rule

yeah cc am aiming to get this book done & dusted once and for all!!! bye xxxxxxxxxxxxx

charliecat · 28/01/2005 16:16

Relax your drinking rule all you want FG but dont even think of smoking a fag...ok....I will give you a virtual wallop if you do....ok?????????????
DD1 is fine now, they spend the day gameboy/playstationing it which is super medicine!!!! Whatever made her sick was out of her system by 12 oclock and she was fine.
Our local soft play is closing to make wayu for....yep some more bloody houses...v Hope you had a good time Fee! Do you attempt these things with your two MM?
Mad toddler running round with baby attached to hip senario comes to mind!!!!
I am chonking madly and need a coffee...also need coke or lemoade or anything to rinse some voddy down later
Anybody doing anything other than getting pissed ladies?!

OP posts:
charliecat · 30/01/2005 14:17

Apparently not Found half a fag on the front room floor today that looked right out of place...was busy putting some games away and had it dangling from my lips...unlit of course. It did feel odd and dp said it didnt look right.
He did think id been outside smoking wiht my friend though as we both sneaked outside and left the kids with him...AS IF!
