For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm sure they are fmf

eternalstudent · 13/04/2008 12:57

Hold on a minute.... If you're veggie, 10/10 is cheating no? Surely you eat at least 15 a day to replace all the meaty goodness you're missing out on?

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 13:13

ah we seem to manage to scrape along with nuts, seeds, grains, etc student
I am a bit pale and spindly though of course

zippi this is a daft argument and not one for this thread probably

it has hailed and rained here since I said what a lovely day it was
that'll learn me

I think I'm about to get into a fight with a poster on another thread.

FrayedKnot · 13/04/2008 14:10

Hello

Every time I look outside the weather is doing somehting different

I want to go out for a walk but a big black cloud is lurking again

We've had our roast, which included chard, carrots and peas.

DS is annoying DH who is trying to finish fixing new door furniture (is that the right terminology?) onto our front door

Am pleased he is fixing I as now I will be able to open and close it without having to put my back out each time, but it is taking aaaaggggges

MrsCarrot · 13/04/2008 14:12

do you mean the argument is daft or that it is daft to have the argument, Franny?

The market was good. There were no chickens so we have beef. I also bought some Norfolk dapple goats cheese and beetroot and horseradish chutney. I have just eaten most of it on crackers. God it was good.

Somerfields was restricting cashback so people couldn't get it for the market. I think that is shit.

MrsCarrot · 13/04/2008 14:13

and I went through the till twice

Boco · 13/04/2008 14:16

I'm a little scared of the thought of bands of wild cows roaming free.

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 15:06

Both MrsC

grapes, strawberries, banana, raisins

we hardly ever see lionheart do we?
and Avi has abandoned us rather

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 15:11

our giant compost bin which we got at Christmas is half full
what do we do when it is full?

OP posts:
Boco · 13/04/2008 15:18

Have you been turning it Franny?
You take the compost out of the bottom and dig it into your garden.

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 15:19

but it won't have turned into compost in a total of 6 months will it? or will it? [duffer]

OP posts:
Boco · 13/04/2008 15:22

We have 2 bins for that reason Franny.
Most books say six months - so you could have a look. Dp reckons it's more like a year which is why our garden looks like daleks have invaded.

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 15:24

oh I thought 6 months was much too soon to be hoping but am novice
we have really only got room for one, so will have to hope for the best

OP posts:
Boco · 13/04/2008 15:32

You have to keep squashing it down. [obvious]
I really don't know. Dp is the compost obsessive.

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 15:40

well quite
I haven#t actually been near ours for fear of retching (gag reflex a bit hair trigger these days)

but would you say 6 months to fill one of the large ones was about right?

pinkspottywellies · 13/04/2008 15:42

Just had HUGE sunday lunch at the pub down the road. We lumbered down the road to the park afterwards and dd and I worked a bit of it off! (DH wanted to drive the less than a mile to the pub )

I've had, since I got up at 11 o'clock [spoilt], mango, satsumas, peas, carrots, cauli and broccoli.

pinkspottywellies · 13/04/2008 15:45

Urgh. You've just reminded me that I need to get a compost bin. Our district council is no longer collecting veg peelings etc with our garden waste

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 15:55

we are filling up this thread nicely aren't we?

any votes for titles - last mango in paris, or shiny happy peapods both fab IMO

we could have one this week and save one for next week if you like?

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 13/04/2008 15:58

my vote is for mango, not that I don't like the other one, it's great, I just don't want to hum it all week!

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 16:14

BBBee · 13/04/2008 17:08

hi stuffit you are not alone.

oh - didn;t mean a veggie debate. Have had a nice day - read some of what I wrote last night and was not as bad as I feared.

How are you boco - are you excited about london and champagne and ceremony? I am interested in what you have planned for your hair.

FZ - sorry about your back, um, lavendar?

Our boiler has broken down again. Oh the tedium of domestic life.

Oh have not had much FV but have done a toot and not eaten much today at all.
