For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 18:50

zippi I love your pictures and now want to have your boyfriend go to lithuania

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 18:51

peapods please
good going on gym fran how are your skinny triceps, did you work them too?

FrayedKnot · 13/04/2008 18:53

Mangoes! Mangoes!

I am suddenly starving tonight

I do really well in 2 weeks post AF and then I suppose I must ovulate or something and the carb cravings come

Zippi you look lovely in the pics, very slim and chic looking as ever. I do admire your effort in losing the weight and opting for a healthier lifestyle

Through 10/10 and latterly the gym I actually weight less now than I did seven years ago

And I feel loads healthier

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 18:54

bbee I went away straight away rather dispiritedly! I think you should eat though but if you haven't all day it is v difficult to do so in the evening

UR i haven't been to the gym either

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 18:57

FK is that what ovulation does?

am having party in two weeks and want to wear skinny bottom trousers so need a skinny day exactly then

I don't think sit ups will make much difference in two weeks so may be a case of stopping eating next Saturday ..a week long toot

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 18:57

and then eating 70 portions on Sunday to make up for it

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 18:59

oh lord we will never choose a title at this rate
may have to toss for it or something

stuffit I am so limited in what I know I can do now - the last pt I saw was kind of panicked and just kept saying "take it easy, just relax on the bike for a bit" and left me unsure what was actually 'allowed'

I did shoulder raises, does that do triceps? it doesn't feel like it but I think it might
they took the tricep machine away - I liked that one

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 19:02

like this oh darn it, that says it is for shoulders

what can i do for triceps? I always think I will hit myself over the head if I do that one with your arm bent behind your shoulderblade and straighten it
also don't think I am 'allowed' to lift anything over my head

eternalstudent · 13/04/2008 19:04

PEAPODS!

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 19:06

For pregnancy I just couldn't possibly give advice (can't fit in my instructors leotard anyway) but for triceps I was lying down on the bench using free weights.

place hands together with 1kg in each hand (as if in prayer - i often was) and drop them down behind the head then lift straight up above your face.

is that the same as lifting above your head -- it would be above your head if you were standing up

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 19:08

my daughter has just told me she wants me to stop being on mumsnet FOR ONCE
I am never here what is she talking about
but must go, see you all later x

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 19:08

I am not allowed to do anything flat on the back

how about one I do at exercise class where you have one leg forward and your arms go behind your arse holding weights? that seems like it could be tricepy

OP posts:
eternalstudent · 13/04/2008 19:08

LOL - Franny, I've just noticed you are on the thread I was spoiling for a fight on earlier. Glad I'm amongst other grubs.

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 19:09

I think you kind of lunge forward while pushing arms back behind body
I reckon that is one

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 19:10

oh student is it the boundaries one? good range of opinions on there

OP posts:
UnderRated · 13/04/2008 19:10

Where's the fight?

eternalstudent · 13/04/2008 19:14

No! It's the washing your children one. I was about to get angry with someone who asked those of us who wash our children once a week(ish) whether that meant we didn't wash ourselves and was being a bit of a twat duff.

Will go and check out the boundaries thing immediately

UnderRated · 13/04/2008 19:18

Oh

eternalstudent · 13/04/2008 19:24

Seems silly now. I was just spoiling for a fight.

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 19:41

I don't know that one F&V but have practised what you describe and I can feel it pulling my triceps.

stuffitllama · 13/04/2008 19:42

what's the boundaries one?

I like a few germs but wash the children rather obsessively

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2008 19:43

LOL I didn't see that post
children washing is different to adult's washing don't you think? I mean they don't sweat and their genitals don't get all choisty
well not so quickly anyway
