A good day today; porridge for breakfast, an apple, celery with quorn sarnies and a yoghurt for lunch, pasta for tea. No crap at all BUT I am hungry now. What could I have that won't ruin all my good work?

I weighed myself this morning and it said 9 stone two but I have a feeling the scales are a bit low. I'm only a shortie though and am over a stone heavier than I used to feel "at my best".

trulymadlydeeply · 10/04/2008 08:10

I'm already planning what to buy for my treat for tomorrow ...

Tickle · 10/04/2008 08:34

Was that late at night you were posting janeite? That's a tough one... some yoghurt maybe, or you could buy some almonds... they are not low fat but they are filling and much healthier than sugar

And liahgen - your list is not so bad... just leave out the doughnut, brownie & ice cream today!!

As for me - online now to resist the call of the larder . Back from school run, and have hung washing out, so it's that traditional-quick-treat time!

But I am feeling very good that I have had so much willpower so far - like notnowbernard says it will get harder when the novelty of stopping wears off

Keep going everyone

midnightexpress · 10/04/2008 09:25

Me too trulymadlydeeply!

Doing well so far and feeling a bit less grotty than I was yesterday. Managed to get round the supermarket with two small boys in the trolley yesterday without giving in to temptation.

Picked up loads of dried fruit and seeds and stuff, though I guess I also need to avoid too much snacking on those too, as they're pretty calorific, though healthier than the alternatives. But chewing on a dried mango in that bit when the children have just gone to bed (and I would normally crack open the wine and/or Green & Blacks) quite OK. Surprisingly.

I swear I feel plumper than I did at the start of the week though. Should buy myself some scales to convince myself otherwise.

Tickle · 10/04/2008 10:39

midnight that feeling plumper goes for me too - I think it's because I am feeling so virtuous I want instant results

Well done with the dried mango - that's one I haven't tried.

DH in town today for work, & left with instructions to buy healthy snacks etc. Let's see what he comes home with

mybestfriendiscalledstig · 10/04/2008 13:39

Aghhh, there's nothing like being up for 3 hours in the night with vomited children to make you crave chocolate

< weeps softly>

liahgen · 10/04/2008 14:16

well been good today.

mocha this morning, (no cream!!If you knew me in rl, you would know how BIG that is)

cornish pastie and coffee at lunch

something virtuous for dinner this eve.
Am bloody starving now though!!

am gonna have an orange.

yomellamoHelly · 10/04/2008 15:18

Well yesterday I managed to go until 9:30-10:00pm with no chocolate (at which point I inhaled some fruit and nut with dh - he gets free choccy bars at work).
A first for me since ds2 was born 15 months ago (and probably a bit before that, being pg and all that)!
That said felt awful most of the day (headachy and grumpy and couldn't stop thinking about chocolate).
Still no chocolate treats yet today though my hot cross bun tasted SO good that I suspect it was probably quite bad for me (don't usually eat white bread). Again quite headachy.
Like hairtwiddler I've been surfing about sugar addiction and it's given me a bit of a push to carry on. I lack will power (I've discovered) and wouldn't be doing this without this thread I think!
Good to read everyone else doing so well.

gymgym10 · 10/04/2008 15:23

After 2 great days yesterday was complete disaster! DH opened bottle of wine which is my complete downfall. Had stressy day with kids & before I knew it I was scoffing brie sarnies & the left over Easter Eggs. Felt mega crap this morning & have just been to health food shop to top up with healthy bits'n'bobs including yogi tea!!! So far today have been good. Well done to every-one else.

FunkyGlassSocks · 10/04/2008 15:59

I am doing so badly at this. I'm recovering from an op and a friend bought me flowers and chocs today - I couldnt say no

jennster · 10/04/2008 16:00

Gees now ds has got the lurgie dd has. She has stopped vomiting at least but started with diarrhoea, and ds can still bf so should get over it quicker, but I am fagged. I've just managed a sleep with them. I'm not going to even bother listing my sins. My friend brought me some home made carrot cake this morning when I mentioned I hadn't left the house for 5 (now 6) days. I am feeling decidedly ropey myself now.

jennster · 10/04/2008 16:00

Sorry to moan. Hope you recover soon FGS

MegBusset · 10/04/2008 16:18

Today: Mini Shredded Wheat, fruit tea, satsuma, cheese & salad roll, soup, banana, a few rice cakes.

Tickle · 10/04/2008 16:32

Well done everyone - and even the sinners seem to be doing well

yomella that must be tough with choccy walking into the house for free

just had a piece of toast with the kids, but otherwise very virtuous.

Stir fry for dinner I think.

QuintessentialShadows · 10/04/2008 16:36

I have not been good today. I bougth myself a chocolate bar because I am fed up. I am on my third course of antibiotics for pneumonia, and just went to the shop to buy a bottle of water to take the medicine.
I have prednisolone and an inhaler also now. Will get back into the swing of things again tomorrow.

Well done to the rest of you!

janeite · 10/04/2008 17:11

Tickle - almonds are a brilliant idea; thankyou! I'll stock up at the weekend. Very good so far today - toast for brekkie, crackers with a tiny bit of port salut and a lot of celery, plus a yoghurt for lunch. NO snacks at all because I've been so busy at work I haven't had time to think about food. Baked potatoes and sausage casserole with lots of veggies planned for tea. And I've got a low cal hot chocolate sachet ready for when I get the post dinner sweet-stuff munchies later on.

Havne't weighed myself but think I'm pre-menstral (sorry tmi) so feeling a bit bloated; no headache today though but a foul one yesterday.

janeite · 10/04/2008 17:11

QS - hope you feel better soon.

hairtwiddler · 10/04/2008 18:00

Just checking in. Sorry to hear a few of you have had a bad day. Hope you feel better, happier and stronger tomorrow!
Pretty good here. Avoided some taste the difference choc chip cookies at a friend's house this morning!
Had fruity porridge, ham salad sandwich, and veg couscous with mackrel fillets for meals. Snacked on banana and home made no sugar cereal bars.
Plan to spend the evening planning meals for the rest of the week, and will put healthy snacks on the shopping list!

ingles2 · 10/04/2008 18:11

Hi everyone,..
have spent the day shopping in Canterbury today...
cereal for breakfast
and wagamamas chicken ramen for lunch
have still managed to avoid snacks,ds's & dm had chocolate cakes, even dm commented she couldn't believe how good I am being...(she knows I've got no willpower )
am planning another wine free eve...but gonna have a glass tomorrow.
Hope you're feeling better soon jennster and QS & FGS...you're all doing great and as far as I'm concerned chocolate is essential medicine

trulymadlydeeply · 10/04/2008 19:14

Hmm, don't think I'm coming off the wagon, but definitely a bit wobbly today - had a couple of pieces of bread and butter before tea, and I've had more wine this week than I would normally (but it was our wedding anniversary and we have got friends staying ).

Also had a choux bun for pudding after tea tonight, but I can do that every now and then, and know it's more or less a one off.

Haven't done any exercise this week, though, because kids are off school. Definitely feeling the lack ...

Treat day tomorrow - hope you've all chosen lovely, yummy things!

XXX

midnightexpress · 10/04/2008 21:33

Just checking in too. It sounds like everyone's doing well, and most of the wobblers sound like they've got good excuses - sickness in self or child can only be cured with chocolate afaik.

I've had a good day today. Would like to be getting a bit more exercise, but ds2 is only just walking so we have to troop round the park at a snail's pace - even ds1, who is only 2.5, thinks we're going slowly now, and he stops at every puddle/park vehicle/dog to inspect .

My snacks have consisted of dried fruit and breadsticks (zzzzz) and I have chosen herbal tea instead of a glass of wine this evening, though we did have pizza for dinner.

I may save my treat until Saturday ( it's my birthday and I'll snack if I want to, snack if I want to).

Hope all those feeling rubbish are feeling better soon.

midnightexpress · 10/04/2008 21:34

...though if you're all on here tomorrow talking about cream buns and chocolate puddings I might not be able to wait till Saturday.

Will have to go off now and ponder my dilemma.
