For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

well sorry again zippi, I always appreciate your advice
I guess the thing is normal advice may not apply to dp and I as we are not normal drinkers
but I'm sorry if you felt I was being judgy about drinking in generally - it's not my favourite thing, put it that way, but it doesn't usually bother me if other people want to get drunk, as long as they don't want to do it where I can't avoid seeing them
and I HONESTLY don't care at all about people having the odd drink if they are not slurry and staggery

anyway enough of my neuroses I think

stuffit I am sorry I have no clue about the strawberries. Tbh I would eat them and not worry too much. It isn't like you are having them every day is it? (unless you have gone berserk like me and can't stop buying cheapo ones from the market )

have had big bowl of lovely herby stew - all veg - and brown rice

isn't it light?

carrots
the green vegetable that looks like a cucumber (senior moment -- what the flip is it called)
parsnips
three raw carrots
orange
and strawberries in a minute

have never done eight before!

zippi is your friend a "friend"?

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 18:36

I think you are referring to a courgette

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 30/03/2008 18:36

courgette

ladywombling · 30/03/2008 18:41

Franny,

Can you make do with maternity leggings (online or H&M/Topshop) and Maternity t shirt or vest?

ladywombling · 30/03/2008 18:43

I think that Zippi's friend is a 'friend' with a courgette...

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 18:46

OP posts:
lullabyloo · 30/03/2008 18:54

lol

Franny..my Dad is in the US
could he send anything any speedier?

pineapple
satsumas
blueberries
apple
dried apricots

broccoli,spring greens
baked squash,onions,tomatoes,garlic
large salad with avocado,watercress,carrot,spring onion,red pepper,rocket ,little gem,tomato,beetroot,cucumber,peas.
lentil soup.

Had a lovely hour long soak while ds went shopping with dh..I feel almost human again.

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 18:58

oh thanks Lully, I think it is going to take 2 or 3 weeks whatever, as the standard mail service from the US - getting it sent to a US resident would save me a bit in customs possibly
actually no it wouldn't if it was done honestly

and would probably take LONGER as would have to get to your Dad first!

but very kind offer, thankyou

it didn't sound like it really was a date to me zippi but I do see your point
have you ever talked about being exclusive or has it just been assumed?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 19:07

Avi did you give ds some coins from Avi Island while you were here?
some just turned up and I can't think how else they would have got here

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 19:07

OP posts:
lullabyloo · 30/03/2008 19:10

what have you got ds for his b'day ?

zippitippitoes · 30/03/2008 19:11

oh the topic was brought up to some extent several weeks ago by me...on my part it is exclusive cois i dont do sleeping with more than one guy but he made no promises

tho i am pretty sure he isnt hasnt seen anyone else..he knows i wouldnt be happy to be sharing so i guess the impkication was not exclusive but if he sees someone else he would consider telling me

or something

i kno he will see someone else becos he obviously isnt going to be a long term partner of mine

Fullmoonfiend · 30/03/2008 19:11

Ullo. Wah, my allotment is a muddy hell I have drainage problems. So insted of ha[ppily planting carrots and rocket in the sunhsine, I spent a miserable hour shovelling soil from one bit to the disaster zone.
Doesn't bode well does it?

However, I have eaten strawberries and chemicals, curly kale, carrots, green beans, brocolli, parsnips, mange touts and leeks.

I think I have a very low boredom threshhold. I went garraty this morning because dh said we would go out somewhere but he sat around playing on pooter until 2.30pm. I hate not knowing what I am going to be doing in a day. Dh says I am hyperactive. But then we met a woman with a dog on our walk who said she was diagnosed with ADHD in 2003. In the space of 15 minutes she took photo of me with her dog, showed me her jewellery, examined my jewellery, told me all about her children, tried to grill me on my children, told me about her hobbies and confessed she was a nightmare to have over as she had no boundaries and would stay for 3 days if she was invited for coffee.
She was great fun but afterwards DH admitted that, no, he didn't think I was so bad after all

(and beautiful dog lady, if you happen to read this and know I am talking about you, I thought you were delightful )

Fragments · 30/03/2008 20:02

FMF I sympathise we spent the daytrying to rescue our swamp garden. We have very clayey soil and the prospect of anything growing is looking low. We just chuck a bunch of stuff in anywhere and hoped for the best!

In between gardening I managed grapes, apple, orange, mushrooms, tomatoes, avocado and cucumber and am planning a salad in a bit. WHen kids are finally asleep.

But I simply cannot be bothered to run anywhere tonight. [lazy fat arse emoticon]

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2008 20:11

LOL at beautiful dog lady
Fragments what a great name but who are you?

Lully we are still doing up the sandboat (well dp is), and I have assembled a fab collection of medical type items to indulge his obsession with surgery and blood letting he would have made a GREAT mediaeval doctor complete with leeches etc

he has thermometer that beeps, a working stethoscope, nurse's fob watch, scrubs dressing up outfit, some surgeons' hats and gloves and so on that kind MNers sent

all very cheap or at least favourably comparable with the 'play' type ones you can get

Evening all

LOL at courgette

Franny I think I mostly missed the discussion re alcohol but tbh if DH got pissed and disappeared for 3 hours I would be livid, and he is a moderate drinker and we have no similar issues. So in the circs I think your reaction reasonable.

DH thiks our washing machine is fucked broken.

For a while it has been making a strange noise and tonight we both smelt a definite burning smell coming from the inside at the back.

It's still working but will have to get someone in to confirm that it is quite probably broken or will cost squillions of quid to mend and therefore not worht it.

Pants.

(Quite probably dirty ones)

I ate a mango, a tomato, a couple of carrot sticks and some baked beans.

Not my best day, f&v wise.

zippitippitoes · 30/03/2008 20:43
