For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh toot, I know exactly what you mean. We were going to do festivals instead of a 'proper' holiday IFKWIM. And now we can't even afford to do those.. For example Guilfest - Levs headlining plus Kula Shaker (who I adore) and loads of kids' stuff. Well the greedy feckers want £80 for a campervan pass on top of the £320 admissioin for us all. By the time you add spending money is a blardy fortune

Lully, we had our best ever holiday at Cornish tipis. Is very weather dependant though..we would have had an utterly miserable time if we hadn't had a heatwave that week.

Also very expensive for what is is. I mean you can buy a tipi for £1,500. Trouble is, you need more than a pocket handerchief lawn.

Gah! Zipi, if Dh i=is earning any momney by then, we'll meet you at End Of The Road

TooT and,er, anyone actually- we can probably fit 3 kids in our house if you don't mind kipping in the front room - come and have a holiday in Sunny Yorkshire

Fullmoonfiend · 29/03/2008 12:48

my kids used to have banana and avacodo mashed togtehr when they were very little. They loved it. They have not eaten either banana or avacodo since 2002 though...

zippitippitoes · 29/03/2008 12:57

i promised dd1 i would email exh today so i guess i better do that

i suspect he is drinking himself into an early grave which is also what she is worrying about

ds was supposed to be going to stay with him for a holiday but im not sure what has happened about that

i am worried about him id ont want him to kill himself either

i dont know how he manages to do this and his job its not like he does something you can do with half a brain..

i am wavering about booking these festivals

i guess i would at least recognise some people at the larmertree one

and end of the road looks nice...i would ask james about that but it is too far ahead it would be creepy of me

and latitude looks good too

i didnt realise there were so many

i only heard of the big chill and womad and stuff

eternalstudent · 29/03/2008 13:17

OMFG!! Avocado mashed with cream and sugar for pudding?!?!!?

Have you seen the thread 'I will never forgive my mother for.....'. Get over there pronto.

I am confused as to why DH went out at 11 to go to the football. The match doesn't start till 3. Methinks he is having fun without me.

I have just splurted tomato pips down my stupidly fashionable white shirt. I knew it would never last.

Fullmoonfiend · 29/03/2008 13:39

lol. That is exactly why I do not wear white. People think I still have gothy tendancies - but no, I wear black because I profoundly clumsy with food. And always slightly grubby round the edges

zippitippitoes · 29/03/2008 13:42

there is a magnetic attraction between whit and tomato

i just realised i put a nmaer in that post

i have the duffy cd..i like it

pinkspottywellies · 29/03/2008 13:42

I don't buy white clothes cause I always think I'll spill food. Then every once in a while I think - but I don't spill food on anything else. So I buy something white and promptly cover it with tomato sauce, blood, coffee, beetroot etc! Then give up on white again for a while.

FrayedKnot · 29/03/2008 14:03

Hello everyone

LL lol at doing something interesting - I was at soft play!

I was in the gym at 8.45am ..

Then on to the birthday party...

Stuffit good luck with the bottoming

IdrisTheDragon · 29/03/2008 14:11

We are going on a Keycamp holiday in August. To France somewhere by the sea and in the middle ish.

zippitippitoes · 29/03/2008 14:15

that sound s like the vendee nice coast for children

i have sent a nice email to exh..hopefully that might stop him ringing me up otoh it might just make him want to ring me

he is clearly miserable and lonely

FrannyandZooey · 29/03/2008 15:10

welcome back stuffit

and holding out a hand to lionheart and Pink to help them climb back up on to the veg wagon

zippi sorry you have more stresses this weekend, I think you should tell them all to sod off and stop bothering you for a bit tbh. End of the Road was so nice, I want to go again, will have 2 m o baby hopefully and can't face it though. It was small enough that I was able to make friends and bump into them again over the weekend. Plus some lovely stallholders, always good to chat to if on your own as they are stuck in one place and can't leave

Lully does ds get a chance to practise playing with one child at a time? I think many children find this easier than a group. So sorry they have said negative things about him, I always find it the most unpleasant kind of raging / sick feeling when someone criticises ds.

I have 3 weeks off my sports job so celebrated by going to gym - did 15 mins on bike and 15 mins on treadmill and puny weights.

Dp and ds are out buying fruit.

it is exh that is killing himself btw not ds my post was slightly ambiguous

i think i will book the end of the road one

i should have some things booked for myself i think just in case

i sent exh an email but maybe i alreadu said that

yeah i had a shop and definitely had customers who disocvered i would always be there unable to escape

eternalstudent · 29/03/2008 15:36

Some friends of ours had a stall at E of the R. They prob would not let YOU leave the stall tho' rather than the other way round. They sell shiteous costume items. Fake moustaches / wigs / cowboy hats and the like.

White top now covered in tom pips, allotment mud, dried on goddies chipsticks. Good work.

I would buy only black clothes but we have ginger / beige dogs whose sole purpose in life is to shed. I tend to dress myself in beige shag pile so the hairs don't show up. Quite cumbersome, but very warm.

FrannyandZooey · 29/03/2008 15:47

ah I saw them student
we bought ds a glow stick necklace from there

sounds about right!

stuffitllama · 29/03/2008 16:11

hello fran and everybody, well done for buying the trainers pink, scary isn't it as now one has to actually do the running! no gym for me, am "training" for a race urgh

have given up on cooking today and am eating third raw carrot, if I eat ten does each count as a portion? I'm serious as apart from an apple or two this is all i will do today

still in middle of major clean but all going v well , it really helps to listen to radio 4

stuffitllama · 29/03/2008 16:12

how is your baby fran, great that you get to go to the gym, how does it work with the sports/bf bra -- do you have a very narrow window of time to get your training in

FrannyandZooey · 29/03/2008 16:24

hello stuffit, baby is still inside me hurrah so it's not too difficult

I did have a super duper sports bra when I had ds and somehow I could still bf in it, I am not quite sure how
possibly it had clips? that doesn't sound v likely does it

I think with portions you are in theory meant to have different ones, but I don't see why you can't look at having a variety over a week or a month or whatever
aren't you going to eat anything proper? I don't mean veg necessarily, but you can't survive on carrots and apples

stuffitllama · 29/03/2008 16:40

oh how lovely a spring babe, i only managed one out of three in the spring and it was definitely the best time to sprog

thanks for advice.. in that case I think i'll just carry on with my carrots and for the first time ever achieve my 10 .. am doing a bulk cook tonight so will nibble on excess mashed pot for fish pie and any spare bolognaise later

carrots are just so easy !

FrannyandZooey · 29/03/2008 16:45

LOL it is due in July
I am just making such a ruddy big meal out of it everyone thinks I have been pg for about a year

ds was born in the spring and I agree it was lovely
not too cold and by the time they were ready to do lots of out and about stuff it was nice and warm and sunny

I am getting read to take boys to the theatre...I hope it's a good show.
We had a very wholesome morning all of us (I managed to nag persuade dh a bit of digging would do him good. He didn't enjoy it at all but grudgingly said he felt ''quite good'' afterwards.
Then it rained. And rained. and rained. And we were too skint to do anything, having spent the entire easter holiday quota over the past week - when it has rained and rained and rained

I am feeling stir crazy.

We will have a chilli veg stir fry when we return and DH and I will honour Earth Hour tonight by going to bed by candlelight , It's about the only thing we can afford to do these days....

pinkspottywellies · 29/03/2008 17:47

I only allowed myself the trainers when I'd been running 3x a week for 3 months stuffit, having proved to myself I'd stick to it! Had a very embarrassing experience buying the trainers too. Have told it on the couch to 5k thread

Moony, what is the Earth Hour thing? Google have a black background today - 'we've turned out the lights' - but I looked at the link and still didn't really figure out what it's about.

I've just made the biggest mess of dinner. Was lovely in the end (after seiving the sauce) but cheesy pasta comfort food rather than oodles of veg. Had sweetcorn and peas though. I just didn't get organised beyond the shopping. Rubbish.

TooTicky · 29/03/2008 18:20

Have been swimming and to "fun"fair
Swimming not too bad although I do loathe the getting dressed again bit and having to carry 18 armfuls of stuff to and from locker without getting anuything wet.

Am doing veg sausages, beans and mash as soon as dd2 releases my nipple.

IdrisTheDragon · 29/03/2008 18:29

I never do swimming with DS and DD. This is not good really. Will try and improve.

We are going to see Thomas the Tank Engine at the theatre tomorrow, courtesy of Mumsnet . We are all excited .
