For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooT is it nearly bedtime or is there lots more day to come? Have you got anything nice planned for tomorrow?

UnderRated · 22/03/2008 18:46

OOo, you have snow too

I have a nice clean car (inside only), fully inflated tyres, clean windows and a full tank of petrol. And a freshly baked chocolate cake. And I had a bath. I've been busy!

How annoying that the DVDs weren't at the library, F&Z - what were they? I am pissed off because I used 6 eggs in the cake but forgot to blow them so will now have to dye some others. I didn't really want to dye eggs we were going to eat. Sorry your day is shitty, Toots.

Did Mr Avi go on holiday without you, Avi? I was thinking about you last night when I couldn't sleep and have decided that you are a) on of the Red Arrows b) a different kind of stunt pilot or c) a crop sprayer.

I haven't got DS anything Easter-ish at all.

Um, red cabbage (2 portions, perhaps). Not good, is it?

Overrun · 22/03/2008 18:53

Snow here today as well,, but didn't settle. the dcs got all confused and started singing christmas carols
Its so cold, early Easter is such a bad idea. I will have to be very brave to do the Easter egg hunt in the garden this year. Remember last year was glorious sunshine.
Not doing too badly on the old fruit and veg front, big salad for lunch, apple, banana, a apple juice. Going to have a stir fry for dinner, so that should help matters.

Made big Easter chocolate nest cake courtesy of Nigella today, not going to be very healthy, but the dcs were very excited with it.

UnderRated · 22/03/2008 19:01

That's the one I made, Overrun. It's fab. And sooo easy.

Overrun · 22/03/2008 19:02

Great minds think alike Underated

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2008 19:04

Hello Overrun! the cakes sounds fab...

Avi will be very cross you have revealed her as one of the red arrows, UR

the dvds were Little Miss Sunshine and Being John Malkovich but we are going to have to watch Howl's Moving castle instead which dp got for Christmas and I think we will like. I like the book, anyway

one night, I am away, one night and you have been kinky and chatty and started a new thread and everything!
And tomorrow I have to leap around a stately home grounds dressed as a pirate in the blardy snow! And no-one will come, and no-one will want to paint masks and I will lose £30 which I spent on materials, hoping to make a killing enough to cover my costs...
Bah, spring sucks.,

UnderRated · 22/03/2008 19:17

Um, FMV, why? Is someone paying you to leap around as a Pirate? Sounds hilarious. Perhaps not for you though

Hope you get the DVDs soon, franny. Ratatouille just arrived so I can watch that this week.

MrsCarrot · 22/03/2008 19:20

Howls Moving Castle is very good indeed. I think you will like it, Franny. I want to watch Frida and DH wants to watch Betty Blue so we have agreed on Run, Fat Boy, Run. Obvious middle ground.

filthymindedlurker · 22/03/2008 19:31

UR, tis a regular thing. Some of my friends are in an arts collective and 'do' the children's easter entertainement at a stateley home - we all dress up as characters and there is a huge treasure hunt and crafts etc. It is generally great great fun, and of course, our children get to go for free (noramlly we can't afford the admission fo this place ) and I get to keep whatever profit is made from my stall (hence mask painting). Last year we had 100s and 100s of children. This year, it is looking likely we might not actually get there at all as the weather forecast is so bad
My children are currently leaping around dressed as mini-pirate rebels and will be heartbroekn of we don't go. And I have 100 plastic masks plus paint, sequins etc cluttering up my front room

littlerach · 22/03/2008 19:34

Mrs C I am glad that htey ar eable ot treat you quickly, but sorr y it is a hysterectomy.

Dd1 has gone ot stay at my sis's and it is only the secong time she's been, and she was v excited, but a little anxious too.

Dd2 is revelling in being the only child!

Gorgeous rissotto at lunch time, with broad beans, peas, spinach, asparagus and mint in. Drooool.

How do I heat up mulled pears? I have some that I want to eat NOW!

UnderRated · 22/03/2008 19:51

Sounds fabulous, FMV. I hope there is a miraculous improvement in the weather. It would be a great shame to miss out.

UnderRated · 22/03/2008 19:52

Mulled pears in a pan? Or the oven for 20 mins? Not v instant though. Unless you are of the microwave brigade

Tatties · 22/03/2008 20:03

MrsC, I am glad everything has been explained to you properly. Thinking of you a lot and please shout if you want to talk.

FrayedKnot · 22/03/2008 20:40

Hullo all

MrsC I'm glad they were able to reassure you that even though the treatment may not be great it will deal so fully with the cancerous cells. I know it's not going to be easy even so, plenty of hands to hold here though if / when you need to...hope it puts your mind somewhat at rest to know what's going to happen and when.

Shitty weather isn;t it? WE kept trying to get teh children out to the park today but we didn;t make it...they had about 15 mins in the garden.

I feel like I have fed hundreds today and this was just round one...I am now stealing myslef for round two tomorrow.

I have eaten hardly any veg today as lunch was very bready...but I did make it to the gym this morning for an hour before everyone arrived.

I bloomin' wish AF would arrive. Have had headache all day, it must be here tomorrow.

FrayedKnot · 22/03/2008 20:41

well it's very similar to caffeine I believe Avi - so much so that it is often quoted as BEING caffeine, kind of a simplified explanation from proper scientists for us dimwits

yes of course you neglected MrA. You know he can do no wrong in the eyes of 10 / 10. Lully will back me up on this.

erm bike negotiations have more or less reached a ceasefire for now. I have thrown in a few taunts about where are my winter curtains I was promised 6 months ago? (if you remember we have that big window and glass door at the back and it is fricking freezing in the winter, with just a wafty curtain in front of it). We are not cross with each other anyway. Well I am not

Have seen first half of Howl and liking it a lot except Howl's voice is all wrong. He should be British and more foppish. His bedroom is SUPERB though, I want to go to bed sleep there

am going to bed for real, shortly. Knackered and rotund.

FMF am hoping against hope the weather turns out well for you

Dd2 now ridiculously hot but sleeping without a nipple in her mouth
She is 2 and nearly 9 months.

Ds1 and ds2 not friends but not enemies.

One thumb and two fingers going numb, toes painful. It is getting worse.

I WANT THE SPRING!!!!!!!!!!

and at the idea of Avi being a crop sprayer

Fmv, hope tomorrow goes well and that you don't freeze.

pinkspottywellies · 22/03/2008 23:19

MrsC once again everyone else has got in first with the things I wanted to say but glad that you have a good explanation, and a solution, albeit a difficult option to go for. Talk/shout/cry here - whatever you need from us just ask. Do you need any crying chocolate or are you well stocked?

Franny, that bike you linked to on last weeks thread is beautiful!

FML FMF you can't fob us off with your lurker title when you're posting this much! Tis lovely to see you and I hope you have a fab time tomorrow.

TooT.

TooTicky · 23/03/2008 07:21

Are your little bunnies up early this morning? Mine are
Wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't been up writing clues in rabbity paw-writing at half past midnight.
Dp and dd1 are delivering papers so no hunting until they get back. Suppose I should make sure some people eat sensible breakfast....

Dd2 still hot and not quite herself.
