Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

So I've managed not to gain any weight over the last week, which I count as a small victory given easter and that I wasn't really trying. Started properly today - felt so virtuous that I'd skipped golden syrup on this morning's porridge that I had carrot cake for afternoon tea

countryhousehotel · 26/03/2008 07:54

well I am back after four days of total gluttony! I have eaten my own body weight in chocolate, huge meals courtesy of MIL and Big Mac and Chips on the way home last night. So my real starting day is today. wish me luck! i need it...

Wolfgirl · 26/03/2008 08:35

MamaChris - but don't forget, you CAN eat what you like DURING the day - in moderation of course . Well done for maintaining and not putting on.

countryhousehotel - in the corner NOW!, NOWWWWWWWWWW! you naughty naughty naughty girl!

Mind you, like wine, I cant consume so much choccy in one go anymore, but I do pick - which is why Im now resembling a beached whale with a period!

I did OK last night, but didnt eat till 8:30pm, so not a challenge really. Tonight will be better.

Im sooooooo looking forward to getting my scales, at the moment Im relying on the feel of my clothes, how loose they are, or not LOL

neversaynever so sorry about your friend , that must have been such a shock.

FruitfulOfFruit · 26/03/2008 10:55

Confession ... have spent 6 days failing to potty-train 3yo ds1. Gave up yesterday, v. annoyed that I've wasted a nice Easter weekend cleaning up pee with no result! Thats not the confession, this is - consoled myself with large amounts of Easter egg last night.

Fortunately I have to go to bed by 9 (in order to cope with feeding 3mo ds2 during the night) so I don't have that much evening to eat in!

No Easter egg left now, so it will be easier. (the kids would notice if I ate theirs, I think ).

bozza · 26/03/2008 10:58

Maybe wolfgirl - but DC going to their grandparents on Saturday overnight so might want to use that. Dilemma! DH not really had much time to spoil me yet because I had to leave for work fairly early.

Showmeheaven · 26/03/2008 13:43

What I love about this "diet" is you can eat What a nice change! I think I've got to an age now where I can't starve myself anymore. Or I start fad diets but I can't stick to them.

Thats why I've been unable to shift the weight in recent years. Its great to find something sensible - something I can stick to long term.

I have a good bit of weight to lose, so I'm trying to stick to 3 sensible meals and only allowing myself 1 treat during the day (a little chocolate).

I got Rosemary Conley's new DVD (featuring Coleen Nolan) and I did 30 mins of that this morning, so feeling pretty good!

How is everyone else doing ???

Wolfgirl · 26/03/2008 14:26

I like it too . Its quite perverse tbh, but I like the hunger pang sensation, cos then I know my body is using up what is already stored, and therefore..... in the morrow my tummy will have gone down... et voila!

Its all a bit slow at the moment though, Easter was a bummer time to start, but heck! still marching onwards I think nearer to my hols, say a week or so before, I will actually cut out the rubbish day time picking too. At the moment I am allowing myself anything.... biscuits, choccy, trifle, cake, crisps etc. But will really let the rubber burn before hols. Aaaarrgghhh.... all in the name of beauty!

kingprawntikka · 26/03/2008 18:58

Thanks Wolfgirl got it now! have replied but forgot to tell you that my target weight is 9st 2. I'm ever hopeful

Just had my dinner, holding out now for a glass of wine a bit later to stop me snacking.

Wolfgirl · 26/03/2008 19:57

Mmmmm.... Kingprawntikka, not sure that is allowed really. You can have a glass with your dinner, then thats it.

Ive been thinking about the rules, and I should have been a bit tougher.

SO! here is the new deal - which I will mail next week too:

You can eat what you like, how much you like, drink what you like during the day. BUT you have to stop at 6pm. The only exception is your main meal, you can eat that anytime.

so picking literally stops at 6pm. It has to eh! else we really wont be shifting our jowlers ladies, will we?

You all have to feel very sorry for me because I'm working tonight and tomorrow night so will have to struggle through 2 night shifts with no snacks. I've got my fruit gums and chewing gum to keep my mind off things and I'll stick to herbal tea.

I managed to get tea at about 5.30 which was a lovely chicken and salad kebab. I'm not hungry now but we'll see how I feel at 4 in the morning

SusieHughsie · 26/03/2008 22:54

gscrym - Good luck, hope it goes quickly for you x

futurity · 27/03/2008 08:11

wolfgirl my incentive is just to make my clothes feel a bit more comfy

finding the evenings fine now..its just the day I need to sort out! Snacks aren't as healthy as they could be and still too much Easter choc around combined with the kids being off so much more eating out! Will try and be better today although I am off out tonight for food which will be my first eating in the evening for a week.

countryhousehotel · 27/03/2008 13:09

Wolfgirl I am feeling very virtuous after a v. healthy Wednesday. I know the rules are eat what you like in the day but i'm trying to be ultra-healthy with meals and snacks so hoping to speed things along....tomorrow night will be first Friday without a takeaway for about ten years! Am planning a healthy chicken curry with rice (brown, natch) and steamed veg. Bring it on!!! Oh, and have done gym twice this week already, yesterday and today, will go again Sat morning and do a Spin class on Sunday.....hope Tuesday weigh-in is good news after all this effort

Wolfgirl · 27/03/2008 13:28

countryhousehotel put us all to shame why dont you . Im plodding along, but nothing seems to have shifted tbh; I think I had too much choccy over easter and its taking its time to shift. Also, we have not been eating our tea till gone 8pm, so dont feel Ive had a chance to feel the burn iykwim

OP posts:
MamaChris · 27/03/2008 18:31

wolfgirl you changed the rules probably a good thing - we eat quite late, so I've been picking till then. 6pm is a good target.

walked a couple of miles today, and a longer walk planned for tomorrow (pushing a buggy all the way can only help right?) so am upping the exercise. also trying to aim for healthier snacks in daytime, but the best thing about this diet is I can be relaxed if I have cookies & cake too - like today

countryhousehotel · 27/03/2008 18:57

well not eating past 6pm would be a real struggle for me and dp on week-nights. he isn't home from work 'til 7ish, and dd goes down at 7.30ish, so we tend to eat together once she's in bed. BUT i reckon if we don't eat carbs (ie bread, rice, pots, pasta) after 6 then we should see a difference....i hope! We try to eat as a family at weekends so no snacking on sat or sun!!!! Have been digging out some of my healthy recipes, looking forward to Nigella's veggie curry at the weekend...

Wolfgirl · 27/03/2008 19:23

chh, no m'love, what I mean is..... dont pick after 6pm, but if you, like me, tend to eat your main meal late, then that is OK.

The original rules stated ha, that we should stop picking after our main meal, which for a lot of us, let us off picking until after our main meal. So we had about 3 more hours to pic than others.

So, fairs fair. Lets all stop picking at 6pm.

But to clarify, YOU CAN eat your meal anytime after 6, if needed.

Not sure Im making sense, have DS rattling in my ear, asking a zillion questions, and way past his bed time

3NAB · 27/03/2008 19:44

If one has chicken korma for dinner and then 2-3 biccies 15 minutes later - is that okay as pudding or is it counted as picking???

suedonim · 27/03/2008 20:13

I've been wanting to add my 2p's worth for a while but haven't had the chance until now.

First of all, I've been doing a variation of this diet on my own since January and can report that I've lost 6lb in that time! I was very when I got on the scales.

Second, I'm not doing the diet quite as WG suggests because I'm not an evening nibbler and rarely eat after dinner anyway. My weak point is the afternoon so what I've been avoiding snacks at that time and also not having cakes/treats when I go out for coffee. I've taken to having rice cakes for lunch and amazingly am now somewhat addicted to them.

I reckon that I could improve my weightloss if I didn't drink Coke but I've yet to find a decent substitute. I live in Nigeria where choice is v limited. I don't like diet drinks and fizzy water is unavailable but it's nice to have a fizzy drink in the heat of the day, hence the Coke.

peachygirl · 27/03/2008 20:22

3nab I've had lindt bunny chocolate for my pudding a couple of nights this week

Late afternoons are also a weakness of mine too I'm a teacher and have a early lunch, even in the holidays my body shouts to me at 12.00 saying (Noddy holder style voice optional)IT'S LUNCHTIME'. I'm always hungry at 4pm ish.
I have healthy things but nearly always want something else. I'm thinking of having my 'treat' here - like some chocolate or a cookie.

I really need to try to drink more water too
