Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Wolfgirl · 18/03/2008 08:57

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

Never mind Coke, my big downfall is wine

I have 2 glasses on Fri & Sat nights, but once I have them, my resolve goes. I also can't drink without nibbling on something, so its then that I look for the crisps, nuts, haribo even

I'd love to give up totally for the next few months to help my weight loss, but I know when Friday night comes I'll be gummin' for a glass.

Anyone any advice ????

countryhousehotel · 28/03/2008 07:22

Showmeheaven why not try those new "light" wines with half the alcohol content, your resolve might not go so quickly if you're drinking less strong wine, or try half wine half sparkling water, that works for me. When i fancy beer these days i buy the really low alcohol ones, then i don't get half-pissed after one glass and reach for the crisps.

Wolfgirl · 28/03/2008 09:57

3NAB - LOL maybe we should put your question to the vote.

Personally, Im saying we shouldnt have pudding - other than our ond day off per week. So I would consider it picking.

We really ought to be emptying our tummies in the evening, but I know from experience - especially this week so far, its hard to do sometimes. Ive not had my main meal till gone 8pm at least 3 nights this week, so kinda feel like Ive not been challenged with the diet

and!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have my scales which is annoying. we jsut bought some from eBay but theyve not arrived yet. I used my mums but I think they are a bit dodgy LOL

suedonim - thats OK my love, good on yer for joining us, and encouraging us all. You say your vice is coke, its really strange you know, we dont have fizzy drinks in the house normally, but this last week Ive had craving for lemonade. Im not drinking it at night, just the day. Hope the fad passes soon.

But, you know coke is NOT good for you. It is nice though eh! I love it in the summer, ice ice cold! Mmmmm scrummy. But it is shockingly fattening. If you cant find a sub, just dont drink it. Consider it the same calorific value as a tin of wine or beer. very bad tut tut tut LOL

peachygirl - Ive got a Lindt bunny sitting on the shelf, its there for emergencies, or my day off. Have to share it with DH unfortunately. Also, re your afternoon weakness, afternoon weakness is fine. But why dont you try plain biscuits, or banana or something else to bring your blood sugar level up. Even chocolate, but small amounts.

And yes, water is vital. I now leave a jug of water on our kitchen table and try to make sure Ive drunk it all before bedt ime. Doesnt always work, but I try

Showmeheaven - why not have wine on your night off, and as CHH suggests, go for lighter wines in the meantime ?

duomonstermum · 28/03/2008 11:35

ok seeriously sleep deprived here. DH had her MMR yest and was up all night..... i'm not even sure my eyes are open. so far so good although there has been a few nights where we've eaten really late because of work. DH is going back to his normal shifts so that should make it easier. why is it always easier to stick to stuff when he's not around????

Wolfgirl · 28/03/2008 13:08

RIGHT! Im so frustrated/cross. The eBay scales have turned up, but I am like 5lbs over what I thought I was in the beginning before I started the blimmin diet. MAN!!!

OK, onwards. Getting a grip now, I shall not be prevailed!

Just dont be surprised if you see diff stats for me on the SS next week.

My jelly belly still hanging over me jeans. Eeeewww!

Ooooooooops. Hadn't remembered we weren't having pudding! MIL has sent a sherry trifle so we will have that tonight and then no more puds.

kingprawntikka · 28/03/2008 18:21

oh good , didn't realise we were having a day off day.
I think the six o clock rule is ok, usually have tea later than that but at least it will stop the snacking whislt i'm cooking it!

countryhousehotel · 28/03/2008 18:21

wolfgirl don't worry too much about your actual weight it's whether it goes up or down that matters!!! I stood on the scales at the gym yesterday and it said i was about 4 kilos more than our scales at home . Only reason i didn't stomp round to M&S for a 2 pack of Large Chocolate Eclairs is 'cos i was wearing trainers and sweaty gym clothes at the time. Surely that must have added a bit of poundage????

Wolfgirl · 28/03/2008 18:47

Yeah, I know. and its what I preach too, but listnening to your own advice doesnt cut the mustard soemtimes iykwim

anyway, DH is home and he just stood on the scales and he is a whole stone lighter than me. Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgh and he is taller, and he's a bloke. REALLY gonna have to do something about it.

was soooooooo tempted for pudding tonight - managed not to , and thats it now.

we had for tea; fresh salmon in pasta with holladaise sauche and peas and sweetcorn, all mish mashed together, sort of hting. Very yummy I should feel the burn tonight ha!

Scales question - do they stop being as accurate over time or am I just fat? We have had the ones I use for 9 years in July (wedding present) and they are digital ones.

Wolfgirl · 28/03/2008 21:16

ha ha ha.... dont tempt with an answer 3NAB

I dont think scales stop working or functional over time, but I think where you place them have a bearing on right or wrong weight.

Carpets, I believe, make a difference and provide an incorrect reading. Your surface has to be flat, like floor boards, or lino... etc.

Your scales should be OK xx

oh and for the record, re mine. I just jumped into my PJs, and Im like 2lbs or more lighter, just for taking jeans and clothes off.

So thats it for me, no more weighing during the day, only first thing in the morning with no clothes. I will feel soooooooooo much better.

night night ladies x

duomonstermum · 28/03/2008 22:46

the things we do to make ourselves feel better i found that there's certain parts of the bedroom weigh diffrently because the floor boards are loose. that's my excuse and i'm sticking with it lol

suedonim · 29/03/2008 01:44

Oh, I know all about Coke, how fattening and tooth-rotting and full of 'orrible chemicals it is but I just waaaaaant it when I'm in Nigeria because I get so thirsty. I never drink it in the UK and in fact rarely have any fizzy in the house here. The only alternative in Nigeria is Sprite or boring flat potable water. How bad do you think lime-juice would be for my teeth, if I drank it via a straw?

Wolfgirl · 29/03/2008 09:07

Oooh Suedonim, not sure. But now you have reminded me something to tell you all

Lime and Soda water, is sooooooooo refreshing, and incrediblly low fat and of course it's FIZZY!! and its allowed! One large glass only though. Lets not go too mad.

I drink it alllllllllll the time in summer. Make sure the Soda water is ice cold, and its delicious!

OP posts:
suedonim · 29/03/2008 12:53

I think I've seen soda water in Nigeria so that would be a good alternative for me, Wolfgirl - thanks for that idea!!

ExtraFancy · 29/03/2008 19:45

Hi Wolfgirl, please can I join? I had my DS in August and am struggling to lose my massive belly. My legs are OK, as I don't drive and have to push a pram up/down a v steep hill twice a day, but not even BFing is shifting my jelly tummy!

If you need my email addy for stats etc it's madamwilde at gmail dot com. Am hoping to lose two stone eventually, but am aiming to start small and your diet sounds a brilliant way to start!

3NAB · 29/03/2008 19:58

I know I am going to be crap tonight.

peachygirl · 29/03/2008 20:42

I was out last night for pizza and had a pudding and tonight have fallen off the wagon with the last of my chocolate bunny.

kingprawntikka · 29/03/2008 22:17

Doing really badly tonight too. had a bar of chocolate , wine and crisps!! Tomorrow is another day.

duomonstermum · 30/03/2008 11:27

sleep depravetion is not good for will power!!! have not been good at all since thurs cos it has been one of those weeks where everybody hs been trying to get me to eat when i can. DD had started to self wean but we're back to square 1 she seems to be reacting badly (behaviour wise) to the jab so something tells me it'll be a rough ride..... plus the HV warned that she might develop a mild rash so slightly on edge. DS has throat infection and DH is coming down with a cold so no visitors allowed!!! if BFing got rid of a jelly belly my stomach would be stuck to my back by now lol!

Wolfgirl · 30/03/2008 19:00

duomonstermum - oh dear, things aren't so good your end eh! Im wondering if you should stand down for a week or so, ease things on yourself, its up to you.

My week has not been so good for losing weight either, but still got a couple of days to go before Tuesday weigh in

We ate quite late for several days, and like most people have had to wade through numerous choccy eggs, just had to really

Im hoping the next couple of weeks will be better. I went to try bra's on today, and I cant even stand to look at my cellulite stomach, legs and my chicken mummy saggy arms. Winter warm snuggly clothes can do so well in hiding it all, but a holdiay beckons and there will be no escape!

As you for you guys, keep going. Lets not worry about today or yesterday, lets focus on tomorrow and the coming weeks. WE CAN DO THIS. !!! [simle]

JaamyBunny · 30/03/2008 22:31

Sorry not checked in for a while - even missed weigh in - was dragged away on business AND pleasure which means that i have been drinkong wins and having nibbles most nights this week. Feel really annoyed with myself.

Off to catch up with the thread to see how everyone else is doing...

Wolfgirl · 31/03/2008 14:42
