For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh I shouldn't think you need to change it, probably just me being slow

Short for EDEN, but not really short iykwim

pinkspottywellies · 17/03/2008 20:49

Thanks Franny

How about having a certain amount of time (ie 30 secs)/mouthfuls to practice using a knife and fork at the start of each meal. Maybe have a timer or countdown, then he can carry on as he wishes. Hopefully with knife and fork becoming easier and carrying on longer of his own accord ! Then you won't have to think about nagging throughout the meal.

Probably a stupid idea. Never mind. Do you do stickers or anything?

FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 20:50

oh
I love name Eden but doesn't go with our surname
sorry am obsessed with names currently, my boys names thread just maxed out at 1008 posts and I still haven't got one I can really fix on

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 20:51

stickers??
(said in tone "a handbag??")
no
am teased for being anti star chart lady
except I gave greeny's boys glo sticks for getting their shoes on
we wanted them gone BADLY though
(Greeny this is a JOKE)

that's a new idea about practising at the beginning and then leaving him to it
I have never thought about that

I found it hard for ds too settled on a very boring yet reliable name and it really suits him. Did a very sad thing with both their names and meanings of dds name and ds middle name have similar meaning.

FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 20:52

can you get me a pear while you are at it?
the Beck of the northeast is still at it in my kitchen diner

FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 20:54

oh no I like that didi (can we call you didi then?)
sounds a bit complicated though
ds's name is saints name as well as favourite book character and I really like what the saint is the patron of. If that makes any sense. I wanted Jerome, who is the patron saint of libraries, and also has a cool red hat, to go with it, but dp said no

I've always left DS to his own devices with knives & forks or not, Franny, assuming he will learn by example

He mostly uses his fork now, he is getting better at cutting, but can;t do knife & fork simultaneously yet.

He likes to practice cutting up with bananas & apples etc, & they also do it a lot at nursery.

I'm sure gentle encouragement and example is fine

FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 20:57

oh god good point he will cut up vegetables (well soft ones) and made a whole salad the other day

the eating with hands thing is a bit uurgh though and mostly laziness I think

I have stickers on my calendar for running and it really helps me

FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 21:09

re peppers: yes definitely but heat until absolutely piping

we sometimes have them uncooked with cold bulgar wheat and cheese and veg in.

No I did like your idea! i think it is better than nagging. And stickers would motivate me also, I am just trying to avoid sticker crap concept with ds. My boss at sports keeps trying to get me to give out stickers but am evil lady. I think if the children don't like coming then a sticker is not going to help, really. If they do like it then why do they need a ruddy sticker?

pinkspottywellies · 17/03/2008 21:15

Sorry forgot your pear Have you got ear plugs?

Thanks. Will maybe try them raw in the summer! I'm a recent convert to bulgar wheat. Had it tonight with sausage casserole.

lullabyloo · 17/03/2008 21:17

ds looooooooooooooooooves stickers
will do almost anything for a ruddy sticker
oh they are useful things indeed

aduki bean.squash,sweet potato,onion,celery,carrot casserole

Franny, have watched your film TWICE today. Once while drawing, and I enjoyed it so much I had to watch it with full attention. It was lovely - and very very funny, and sad. Dp liked it too and laughed a lot. And he never gives films full attention, he always reads.

TooTicky · 17/03/2008 22:33

Here Pink, have a nice sticker to cheer you up
