Great stuff wheely - well done - you should be really proud.
I didn't have any nivea boys
Looked at cancer research 10k myself, but the blurb on my nearest states undulating throughout with 2 steep hills, I'm pretty sure I'm not up to that, the RFL was steep enough! Maybe try that one next year when dd2 spends a bit more time at pre-school .
Saw your photo - too far away to check against the colour chart though

Theresa · 18/05/2008 20:51

Well done wheely - fab time! Debbie I'm not losing weight either (well i'm going up and down! but its not staying off!). DD much better, have manged 6.25k yesterday and today and will run home from work tomorrow whihc is 10.7k. We in a week and a half for a week and must keep on top of things as i feel even if i miss a few days that i seem to 'lose it' and whilst my intentions are good, i'll be surprised if i manage 1 run while we are there. 5 days after we get back im doing the 'Balydon Race' (i live near newcastle) whihc is about 9k.

Theresa · 18/05/2008 20:52

whoops, that shld read going to majorca in week and a half!

ditavonteesed · 19/05/2008 07:12

Well done wheely, what a fab time.
I have been running already today, really I have, I woke up at 6.30 and thought if I go running now I will feel good all day and since I usually feel shit all day on Mondays then why not. I did about 4.5k in 25mins, I am struggling to get back up to 5k, my rfl is 15/6 so i have a few weeks to get back on track yet.

Itsthawooluff · 19/05/2008 09:31

Well done Wheely! I've finally reached 30mins with 2 weeks to go for my RFL, so hopefully shouldn't be too shamed, but no way am I going to be less than 30 mins! - complete respect!

bramblebooks · 19/05/2008 10:08

Wheely, what a great time! We'll compare shades of red in a few weeks (2 1/2 ARGH!!!) when I do my 10 k. Well done girl that is monster!!

I managed a poor 3k this morning - mondays are not my best day! Couple that with no coffee and mild lurgy and my excuses are complete!

Dita, you go girl. Shame we don't live closer to one another, we could do crap monday runs together

SparklyPrincess · 19/05/2008 11:38

Wow, Dita, I'm impressed! Never done anything constructive at 6.30 on a Monday!

Fantastic time Wheely, I'm just hoping to run the whole thing.

Did the 'last' run-walk in the Couch-to-5k last night. Thought I was going to die. There is no way I'm going to be able to run 25 mins tomorrow, no way on earth.

My shoulder seems to be getting a bit better, still a bit stiff though and I'm wondering whether that was the problem yesterday, maybe it threw me off my stride a bit (stride being a loose term for my stumbling stagger ...)

Thinking about doing some yoga to complement the running ... does anyone do this? There's a few articles on the US Runners World, but nothing particularly informative.

ditavonteesed · 19/05/2008 11:55

I do yoga (when I can be bothered) it is very good to complitment any cardio vascular excercise as it stretches out all the muscles that tense up. i have never before done anything constructive at 6.30 on any morning, dh was very impressed.

LadyJogsAlot · 19/05/2008 18:57

well done wheely!

(also well done wooluf, you've graduated!)

Wheelybug · 19/05/2008 19:09

Thanks everyone !!

Wow Dita that was early... well done !

And well done Wooluff on graduating - hurrah...

Well just signed up for the 10K in september as think I need something to get me moving and motivated again !!

Not going to have a good couple of weeks for running - will hopefully get out thurs but that will be it for this week as off to scotland for long weekend then next week is half term but have dd in a play morning on thurs so hopefully will get 2 runs in as we're around that weekend.

LadyJogsAlot · 20/05/2008 18:27

we're finally back in our flat (hooray).
i'm off tonight to try another 4k run.

hope i can make it ok, feel pretty tired, at least it's not too hot though

LadyJogsAlot · 20/05/2008 20:52

only managed 3k but nevermind.
the muscles in my bum ache!

how are my fellow joggers this eve?

bramblebooks · 20/05/2008 21:17

hello lady! going to do 3 or 5 tomorrow, depending how knackered I am (long week in work already!) - I also have to get to the dentist in the morning!

I've had a nice brisk walk today which felt rather good.

I keep walking past the same girl. She's walking a LOT.She's always got a backpack on, but I don't think she's training for anything, rather than walking, walking, walking or running at odd hours of day or night. Anyway, I always nod, smile and say hello.

bramblebooks · 20/05/2008 21:19

Sparkly - how're you doing towards your longer run? Don't go too fast!!! I do a bit of yoga - helps me to stretch out.

You can download great yoga stuff for free from itunes podcasts - put them on the computer and contort in front of it!!

LadyJogsAlot · 20/05/2008 21:28

bramble, why does that makes you ?
or do you think she is ?

debbiewebweb · 20/05/2008 21:34

I'm stuck indoors this week as dh is away with work. Went out on my bike sunday morning though . My friend is training for the half marathon and I'm not able to match her of course, so I've promised to go out once a week with her on my bike - I figure its still good exercise for me and my legs and it was good fun - not as much hard work as running . And then hopefully I'll still get out once or twice a week to do a run of my own.

ditavonjustonrunning · 21/05/2008 08:57

Sorry I realised that if I don't come on here I may lose my motivation and I can't have that now can I, so I can now be found only on this thread.
LJA glad your back to normal, makjes a big difference doesn't it.
Bramble I am off to yoga tonight, although it is my first time in about 6months, i think i finally have my mojo back.
Went for a 5k walk with my friend last night and it was lovely and I am actually a bit achy this morning.
Going to try to go to the gym before yoga and maybe do 2 or 3 on the treadmill should be nice and easy now .
Debbie sorry you are stuck in, good on your friend I don't know how people actually run that far.

SparklyPrincess · 21/05/2008 10:06

Thanks Bramble, have got some of the YogaDownload stuff. Find it goes a bit fast for me (can't get into the poses fast enough, then end up huffing and puffing which I didn't think was the point!) - am getting there though. Trying to learn sun salute which seems to be the main bit I get confused on!

Haven't been out for the 25 mins yet. Missed my run yesterday cos I felt dreadful (Probably tmi but having real trouble with feeling 'weak and watery' as I put it at a certain time of the month since I had a coil fitted. Not sure what to do about it). Due to go out tomorrow, but I might re-do the 2 lots of 10 mins. Probably just being a wuss but that extra 5 mins running seems like such a long time...

bramblebooks · 21/05/2008 10:22

Lady, I think she may have an eating disorder. I see her out a LOT, in all weathers, all times of day and night. I remember her when her face looked healthy, now she looks dehydrated/sad (from no body fat). I hope I'm not doing her a disservice, it just doesn't 'feel' right.

Sparkly - have exactly your issue right now! At least I am not confined to the bathroom for hours on end now though. My friend took me out this morning and we kept each other going for 5k - otherwise I'd have wimped out.

The yoga will come - have you got a local group? It's fab to get started and to learn the safety aspects of it.

I'm going to do the podcast one for shoulders/neck later today as I have a problem with a stiff shoulder when I'm running.

Ooooh, and me and my mate had 2 horn honkers this morning ;) tee hee

LadyJogsAlot · 21/05/2008 10:41

bramble, that went through my mind when i read your post but i wasn't sure

SparklyPrincess · 21/05/2008 12:41

Haven't got a local group unfortunately, but I'm reading up on it and being quite careful - that's why I don't like doing it too fast.

Hopefully should have more energy tomorrow, felt really awful on Sunday after I ran, actually threw up. The really odd thing was that I felt ok while I was running, struggling a bit but not really badly, it was just when I finished the run and started walking. Oh and I really don't go too fast! Luckily I don't care if I get overtaken by a granny walking to the shops!

Minum · 21/05/2008 12:50

Sparkly - I cant do yoga because of the speed thing, I just get into position, feel the stretch, then they move on, and I get stressed. I need to find a much slower class, which I havent managed. The worst is the yawning, everyone keeps telling me yawning is good, but it can fill the whole time for an excercise, so I do nothing but change position and yawn for the whole hour

Hope you feel better soon

Had a great run this morning, have speeded up a bit since I changed the music on my MP3 player, it took my mind off what I was doing. It was lovely to see the sunshine today, but I was grateful for the shade, as I got really hot.

Itsthawooluff · 21/05/2008 13:17

Went this morning fully expecting to run for full 30 again, but forgot my water, and probably used this as an excuse but couldn't for the life of me carry on running at 20 mins. Walked for a minute and a half and then carried on to complete the 10 mins BUT even with this and 5 min warm up am only just reaching 5k .

Must be a real snail - never mind, at least I'm doing it.

KathG · 21/05/2008 14:17

well I'm on to week 7 but I must be going slow because I'm still not reaching 4k in 25min, oh well at least I can "move" for that length of time.

SparklyPrincess · 21/05/2008 14:29

I'm just about to start week 7, KathG - I mapped out how far I ran in 20 mins and it came out as just under 3k ... could be doing the RFL for a while!

Must admit I'm a little confused on the yoga - I thought it was SUPPOSED to be slow! Am going to try the 'gentle hatha' podcast tonight, see if I can keep up with that one!
