For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

UnderRated · 15/03/2008 18:01

Gosh, I walk in here this morning to find Franny in her PJs and tatties making eyes at her

blueberries, banana, raisins, coffee

Tatties · 15/03/2008 18:07

ROFL UR on threads I'm on it looks like you said "tatties making eyes at her blueberries"

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 18:11

LOL oh dear
dp is trying to tell me something very serious about his new glasses and I am sniggering about Tatties making eyes at my blueberries

(more like grapefruits these days heh heh)

for anyone who remembers ds's prize lettuce
he was in the park at a kind of show today and the prize giving man (the one who looked like Mr Burns) was there and remembered him
he says he kept ds's lettuce and it seeded and he has grown many more lettuces from it

god this is my sad life when I am excited about the head of the horticultural society growing lettuces from my son's lettuce

jeez no wonder I am in my pjs by 4 pm

Tatties · 15/03/2008 18:20

Oh lovely!

It is wonderful to be in Franny's one's pjs at 4pm IMO, but then I do have a bit of a thing for Franny pjs

UnderRated · 15/03/2008 18:28

PJs at 4 sounds lovely. I am in yoga pants which is my equiavlent but a half-hearted attempt at getting dressed. I am going to cook for a bit and then have a bath with a silly book.

Funny you mentioned lettuces, I was thinking about growing some yesterday. I think you have every right to be proud of your DS and his lettuce

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 18:39

well it WAS a superb lettuce and it DID win first prize (rather amusingly it was the only lettuce in the show but I don't think ds will ever forget the glory of it )

we grew loads last year UR and they were the best thing in the garden
ds just chucked the whole packet down on the ground but we had scrummy young leaves all summer

FrayedKnot · 15/03/2008 18:48

Hello
I have changed into tracky bottoms loungewear and have given up shuffling round with paper plates and eating cold sausages

Bouncy castle was a great success but it did start raining at about 4pm so we had tea and then I needed to do Franny's games afterwards - the bag one was hilarious they al peeked but they loved it!

DS is predictably knackered as he has bounced for about 4 hours in total

I wanted to take DS to the Science Museum tomorrow (his actual birthday) but have just realized there is no train and a bus service & ridiculously long journey time so we can;t go

UnderRated · 15/03/2008 18:49

So I can just throw the seeds in the veg plot when it warms up a bit? Rather than sewing them inside first?

Who cares if it was the only lettuce in the I am very impressed anyway. And no-one need know that there was no competition!

billysitch · 15/03/2008 18:50

Does anyone have any idea if I can use Hemp seeds in flapjacks etc?

UnderRated · 15/03/2008 18:52

Glad the party went well, FK. Shame about the science museum. Can you do something else instead and maybe go next weekend?

How was the cake?

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 18:54

billy I don't see why not
look here's a recipe that uses them
Lully should be able to give you some other ideas

UR yes we did, obviously wait for warmer weather then just chuck them in the soil
they grew like anything and did not get eaten by slugs at all! I am not sure why. I wish I could remember which variety we used but it was something like a mixed mediterranean leaves pack - lots of frilly and red ones, v pretty

FK great news about party, so sorry about science museum. Can you make a date to take him soon?

UnderRated · 15/03/2008 18:54

Billysitch, sorry, I should have said on the other thread, I am sure you can chuck some into the flapjacks. I just don't know what they taste like.

billysitch · 15/03/2008 18:58

LOVELY TAR x

ZippiBabes · 15/03/2008 19:00

hello again i am sure wombling is just corvy

i don't think anyone on this thread could look old and frumpy except me

i have been to the gym and swimm somewhat not in the right mood for it but do feel better now

i have been having n insecurity confidence crisis

but i am going to see a film the lite runner with dd1 shortly as she has taken pity on me

pinkspottywellies · 15/03/2008 20:01

Zippi you do not look old and frumpy!! You look young and rather glamourous. And it's ggod to have you back. Wombling you also do not look frumpy - unless something absolutely drastic has happened since November, which it hasn't I'm sure. at all these gorgeous ladies feeling insecure.

Glad the party went well FK. Shame about the Science Museum but perhaps it will be as nice another time when you're not so exhausted after the party.

@ Franny as a "galumphing thing taking the sports class"!

Good day today. Raisins, clemen-tyne (rather large one) parsnip, carrot and lentil soup, cucumber, plum, veg and pasta bake, mango (I've had two fabulous mangoes this week ). Just sitting watching a movie and will have more fruit.

AAAAAAAAaaaaaanddddd...........

I ran 5k today!!!!!!!!!!!!! for the first time. I did it in about 34 mins. Going to go on the running thread and find out how that is!

TooTicky · 15/03/2008 20:13

Hello

Have had an odd day with lots of screaming and fighting from the dcs, then they got out lots of toys and played, then I dragged ds1, ds2 and dd2 out in the rain for a scoot/cycle/stomp in puddles. It perked us all up immensely.

Veg bolognese and a small mountain of purple sprouting broccoli. Ds1 is just serving up the sultana steamed pudding....

hello beauties

I have eaten lots of good and bad things.

We went to the cinema and saw horton hears a who and then they rode bikes home and I ran through puddles to keep up.

UnderRated · 15/03/2008 20:14

PSW and wow! Well done. Am sooo incredibly impressed.

Hope the film is good, Zippi. I bet you're not frumpy at all.

UnderRated · 15/03/2008 20:15

How lovely that your DC cook, Toots. Hello BBBee

BBBee · 15/03/2008 20:16

I have just had a halfway house confession converssation with DD and now she thinks I am schizophrenic and I hear voices in my head telling her to buy her presents.

TooTicky · 15/03/2008 20:18

Wow Pink, I missed the 5k bit!!

Hello Bee
