For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello

DS has been talking non-stop since we got in from nursery / work at 1pm

It's not that I mind him talking per se

but this kind of talking is along the lines of

"Mummy I want some toast"

FK makes toast under grill becasue toaster is knackered and takes ages

DS: "I want it made in the toaster Mummy, I want it from the toaster Mummy, I want it in the toaster Mummy" repeat about 70 times

FK: "Well I've made it under the grill"

"Well I dont want it then! You're not my friend! Poo-ie Mummy"
etc etc + stomping & throwing himslef about

On a more positive note, we have made part II of teh birthday cake which looks good, and some chocolate rice crispy cakes for the party.

S1ur · 13/03/2008 17:10

Sorry for absence recently. Tis mainly because I have been staying away in shame at my lack of fruitiness.

I am prepared to pay pennace though, in the form of delish stir fry and strawberries and cream.

That okay?

UnderRated · 13/03/2008 18:07

Nothing to report, just checking in.

FrannyandZooey · 13/03/2008 18:53

Slur you will probably need to do press ups, wearing some kind of amusing outfit to entertain the rest of us, in atonement
I vote a badger outfit - what do the rest of you think?

UR how's the list?

FK god the ceaseless talking does make you a bit strange doesn't it. We are currently in a wee wee poo poo phase (I totally and accurately blame Greeny's children) and it is getting to me a bit. I am about to have a long bath with a short book.

I ate all the things I said earlier, plus sprouted beans Halo
I have a sniffle. I don't know whether it is going to be fended off with lots of vit C or whether it is waiting till Saturday to explode all over me. It has been lurking since Tuesday.

TooTicky · 13/03/2008 19:08

Dd2 and I are having a lot of circular conversations atm which occasionally threaten to bring on insanity. Actually, I think it is the conversations that crop up regularly and always take the same form that are the hardest from a patience point of view.
Oh, and when she leaps up in the school assembly that parents go to, points to a boy and shouts, "You've got a winky!!" Big brothers have a lot to answer for.

Am eating ratatouille with a secondhand sandwich and ogling the watercress. I think an obsession is starting. Perhaps I should look for a job with the Watercress Marketing Board.

Dd2 has reclaimed her sandwich.
Dd2: What's that sandwich?
Me: It's yours.
Dd2: Why are you eating it?
Me: You said you didn't want it.
Dd2: No, I said it was yucky Yum.

Right, I have had carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, onions, strawberries, orange, plum, tomatoes, beans.

And about to do abs work.

But for my penance, may I humbly present myself.

I must try harder

FrannyandZooey · 13/03/2008 20:32

Slur I said a BADGER

actually that was quite good, well done

TooT, hmm, watercress. Are you deficient in something? AhA it is calcium, isn't it? That ruddy Yoplait calcium calculator is getting to you

Tatties · 13/03/2008 20:42

Evening

Ah yes, the circular conversations... very familiar. Ds is quite particular about things too, about the way his food is prepared and served for example, and he also doesn't like people having his leftovers

I have nothing to report

Everyone seemed very impressed with my firefly. you did notice I said nearly didn't you? I could get my bum and legs off the floor but couldn't balance for any length of time! I swam 40 lengths last night and ran for 15 mins tonight. Had plum, raisins, salad for lunch and veg and bean chilli for dinner. Quite a good day really. I'll have some more fruit tonight.

Boco glad the driving's going well. Idris I'm so pleased you've decided to leave work. You sound really happy about it and I remember you were unhappy about going back. At least you've tried though and decided it's not for you. Hope the last few weeks don't drag too much! Lully I hope the hospital was ok - was it today?

DH is away tonight. It's really odd being on my own! Haven't spent the night at home on my own for ages.

BBB I love you dropping in and shouting. Shout away!

TooTicky · 13/03/2008 21:39

Am making hot cross buns with ds2's class tomorrow I have bought white flour and am conscious-strickenly wondering if I should mix in some wholemeal. I know most people probably do have all-white buns but i struggle with the idea. The browner the better for me. What should I do?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 13/03/2008 21:41

Morte likely to be the iron with the watercress I think. I am v. v. unreasonably tired atm.

OP posts:
TooTicky · 13/03/2008 21:41

More not Morte. Blah, am tired, must eat.

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 13/03/2008 21:42

Oh TooT, you sound tired.

I honestly cannot have an opinion on the flour, other than to say just do what is easiest and quickest. I am worried about you being tired and baking at this time of night.

I want BBee to come and shout encouraging things through the yurt door at you.

FrayedKnot · 13/03/2008 21:43

Pink can you do head of cow? And can you recommend your yoga dvd? I would like one I think.

Watercress is fabulous TooT

Is i possible to grow it do you think?

TooTicky · 13/03/2008 21:43

No no, I am not baking now. Am baking in school with 4-6 year old children
