So dd has been losing weight for a few weeks, is skin and bone. Size 4 uk size.

came out in a rash this morning which she reckons feels like shingles which she’s had a few times. But I don’t think it looks like shingles? It’s itchy. There is bruising over her legs for no reason. She feels generally unwell.

she’s been trying to get a gp appointment for over a week with no luck. Rang again today and they told her to see a chemist. Chemist has told her she needs to see a doctor. Still can’t get an appointment

anyone any idea.

So the rash is those little purple pinprick spots.

Looks like self-harm marks to me. How old is she?

silverlentils · 29/06/2023 15:03

Your daughter needs urgent medical attention. Please take her to the GP and don't leave until she's been looked at. Or A&E. Please go, today.
Bruising and weightloss like that can potentially be a sign of a blood condition.
I don't know about the rash though.
Good luck, I hope it goes well.

ILiveInAnAlternateDimension · 29/06/2023 15:04

Looks like some sort of purpuric rash and she needs to see a doc, I would not say it looks like self harm.

Allmarbleslost · 29/06/2023 15:08

She needs to see a doctor asap. If the gp won't see her she should go to a&e.

AnnaMagnani · 29/06/2023 15:22

She needs seeing today. If no GP appointment go to A&E now.

BookLover7777 · 29/06/2023 15:25

Go straight to A & E with her. She needs an urgent blood test. Weight loss and bruising should never be ignored.

Crispymandm · 29/06/2023 15:26

Have you got a walk in centre? Or 111? I’d take her in soon as personally.

Gizzey · 29/06/2023 15:27

Possibly diabetes. Is she thirsty,

Weight loss and unexplained rashes along with thirst were the signs for my DS.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 15:28

Right she now has a gp appointment for 4pm

Not thirsty. She feels bloated a lot. She has a few different autoimmune disorders so diabetic a possibility

It really really doesn't. And doesn't really help the OP much either.

MoggyP · 29/06/2023 15:33

If your DD has any other symptoms such as breathlessness, bleeding gums or nosebleeds, night sweats, fatigue, joint/bone pain, mention them too.

And request a full blood count. The issue that posters are skirting round is leukaemia, and when unexplained bruising and weight loss are present this needs to be excluded asap and a full blood count is the test needed for that

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 15:34

It’s 100% not self harm. The skin isn’t broken, lots of uniform marks. She doesn’t self harm

OP posts:
HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 15:34

Yeah it’s leukaemia I was worried about.

OP posts:
HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 15:35

She get’s bleeding gums and joint pain but has fibromyalgia and also on blood thinners

FeltCarrot · 29/06/2023 15:36

Does the rash blanch if you roll a glass over it?

Raisinsandweetabix · 29/06/2023 15:36

They are definitely petechial spots, really really push for answers. Good luck

MoggyP · 29/06/2023 15:37

If she's on blood thinners that may well account for it, and whoever prescribed them may need to review the dosage.

But only after a full blood count to check there is no other causes

ILiveInAnAlternateDimension · 29/06/2023 15:38

I would not jump to leukaemia, it could be anything, could be platelet related, kidneys, vasculitis

ValerieDoonican · 29/06/2023 15:38

A friend had something similar, it turned out was his spleen failing (for no partricular reason). Had it removed, all fine.

But I agree she must be seen urgently.

hopeishere · 29/06/2023 15:38

Glad you have a GP appointment. Fingers crossed for you.

ValerieDoonican · 29/06/2023 15:39

And certainly if she's on blood thinners, the dose might need urgently reviewing.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 15:43

Just realised it’s just a phone appt but I assume if they think a blood test is needed they’ll call her in.

If you are not 100% satisfied after GP phone call, pls go directly to A & E.
