So dd has been losing weight for a few weeks, is skin and bone. Size 4 uk size.

came out in a rash this morning which she reckons feels like shingles which she’s had a few times. But I don’t think it looks like shingles? It’s itchy. There is bruising over her legs for no reason. She feels generally unwell.

she’s been trying to get a gp appointment for over a week with no luck. Rang again today and they told her to see a chemist. Chemist has told her she needs to see a doctor. Still can’t get an appointment

anyone any idea.

I hope your DD is OK. As others have said push for answers. I had bruising etc like this and bloods flagged pulmonary embolism. It wasn't thankfully after scans but spent 6 days in hospital.

IndiganDop · 29/06/2023 16:12

Could be low platelets, ITP. Esp if the bloodspots and brusing is on lower legs.

Probably needs checking out in hospital though.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 16:47

GP had a personal emergency and had to leave. They’ve said they’ll see Dd tomorrow morning. She won’t go to a&e because they said she might be infectious and needs to quarantine.

Hope it’s not another PE. She just said she hasn’t taken her thinners for two days as she’s run out. Says she feels really cold and is wearing two jumpers so now I’m worried she has sepsis!

I'd still be inclined to go to A&E.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 17:00

I’m trying to convince her

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 17:10

I'm really glad the doctor will see her tomorrow. I hope everything's OK.

indecisivewoman81 · 29/06/2023 17:18

I think I would really try to persuade to go to A&E. I know she is a grown woman but she me of these symptoms sound quite worrying.

Dymaxion · 29/06/2023 17:50

Could she be feeling cold because of the weight loss ? you described her as skin and bones, has she been able to eat anything recently ?

MeinKraft · 29/06/2023 17:57

I don't think there's a right or a wrong thing to do here, I'd err towards taking her because I imagine when the GP sees her they'll decide to send her up to hospital anyway.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 29/06/2023 17:59

She says she doesn’t feel well enough to go to hospital and has gone to bed.

Maybe try 111?

Hotpinkangel19 · 29/06/2023 18:14

100% A&E. Those symptoms are concerning.

Clymene · 29/06/2023 18:27

I know she's an adult but I would call 111 for advice.

Pieceofpurplesky · 29/06/2023 18:31

Please speak to someone and try to get her to a&e

hauntedvagina · 29/06/2023 18:32

She says she doesn’t feel well enough to go to hospital and has gone to bed.

If she can't get out of bed, then I would call 111. Be prepared for them to send an ambulance.

cocksstrideintheevening · 29/06/2023 18:34

I wouldn't let it lie, flags for sepsis. Tough shit if she dies want to go, she has to.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 29/06/2023 18:46

I'm thinking possible bacterial infection possible sepsis It's concerning that she doesn't even feel well enough to go to hospital I know she's 22 and you can't force her but I'd ring 111 and be prepared for an ambulance.
I don't say this lightly

AnnaMagnani · 29/06/2023 18:47

Doesn't feel well enough to go to hospital = too sick to be at home

She says she doesn’t feel well enough to go to hospital and has gone to bed.

That's crazy. You need to get her there. Or call 111 and see if they think she needs an ambulance.

purpledaisy60 · 29/06/2023 20:41

Definitely try and get her to go to A&E. It might be nothing too sinister but she doesn't sound well.
