For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

hi avi

expand the 'mostly' please...

Boco · 01/03/2008 19:48

Were you hiding in a cupboard Avi? Have visions of you very still behind the door with a dressing gown over your head.

Have been for lunch at my mother's house, celebrating my grandma's 87th birthday. I got her newspaper for her and she gave me 5p for my trouble. Was sweet.

Then did highly competitive wii bowling with brother, bil and dp, concentrating very hard on not thwacking small children with the holdy bit. I lost

FrannyandZooey · 01/03/2008 19:59

Boco I am too crap to remember if you are coming on sunday?

I didn't have a nice day. Work was alright but ds was at a fab party and I missed it, then I spent the afternoon trying to sort out the mounds and mounds and mounds of crap plastic toys we accumulate despite my best efforts and getting absolutely nowhere. All the time bickering with ds "no put that down. No don't put it THERE it is in the pile to go upstairs. Yes that IS broken yes we ARE throwing it out. No I can't read a story. Go and help Daddy. Well sit there and watch me then. No DON'T move that." ....ad infiniruddynitum

THEN we had a really really shitty pizza. It was just vile, and it was not cheap either (had bought what I thought was expensive posh kind as am fed up of shitty convenience pizzas). Still should know better.

franny - i hate it when you are doing stuff and you can;t do it with them there but cant tell them to go away, it is most unfulfilling and guilt rendering.

I am oh so tired and I have to read academic papers and be good.

FrannyandZooey · 01/03/2008 20:26

you put the child in ANOTHER room and you get 3 bin bags

i was thinking about your initating sex thread fz - with the butchers and the jack russelling. was there one about how women initate sex?

are you at the eating everything and being emotional stage now?

FrannyandZooey · 01/03/2008 20:37

today is my eating everything and being grumpy stage
not my finest hour

I think there might have been one Bee but it was not so funny and touching

I was thinking about that thread earlier, as dp was trying to convince me to eat some of the rather stale bread which I was turning my nose up at

he ended up standing in a doorway thumping the stale loaf against the doorframe and shouting "eat it! EAT IT!"

OP posts:
Bbbee · 01/03/2008 22:02

you are right to clarify - it did sound a bit manic.

i have eaten too much pasta with lovely prostitute sauce - dp has gone to bed and i am watching house working.

TooTicky · 01/03/2008 22:03

Sorry fmv, I have nothing useful. Ds1 is only just approaching 9-10 clothing and even dd1 only just has size 3ish feet. Do you have good charity shops near you?

We did Bristol today. I walked the dcs blimming miles, dd1 did her audition, we played on Brandon Hill (where ds2 accumulated a worrying number of injuries but we saw clouds and clouds of frog spawn and many frogs which ds1 informed me later were actually toads)and then went to the museum where ds1 was suddenly furious with everybody. And then dd1 spent about a week in the gift shop.

TooTicky · 01/03/2008 22:04

What the heck is prostitute sauce? [naive]

ahundredtimes · 01/03/2008 22:12

Oh no, I missed the whole Raven thing Toots. How did it go? How did you get to audition? DS1 will be VERY jealous.

Tell me all about it.

FMV, I feel guilty now. I am going to do searching and rooting for non-returnables if there are any - and there might be as everyone very kindly give me their hand me down soft trousers for ds2. Shall report back.

Right. Raven.

TooTicky · 01/03/2008 22:15

Dd1 researched it on the BBC website. Applications had to be in by 16th Feb or something and they replied v. quickly. Lots of people there though - about 60 I think, and most of them girls. They have to be between 11 and 13 so ds could try another year... It is worth checking the CBBC "How to get on programmes" bit.

ahundredtimes · 01/03/2008 22:16

God he loves Raven, he'd be bloody awful at it though and would argue with everyone and his glasses would steam up.

What did she have to do? Did she enjoy herself?

TooTicky · 01/03/2008 22:20

I did prime dd1 a bit - Do NOT be stroppy, Show initiative but DON'T be bossy or push, DO actually smile...
They had to design their own physical challenge, working in small groups, then act it out. Also, they were given tactical/mental problems to work out. Dd1 modestly told me that her ideas were much better and more original than most other people's. Actually, they probably were.

TooTicky · 01/03/2008 22:22

And yes, she enjoyed it. I think she's also quite pleased to have two BBC auditions under her belt at the age of 11.
And she met a boy there who may be phoning her tomorrow.

TooTicky · 01/03/2008 22:42

Do you know, I don't actually know what capers are. I have seen them in jars and am none the wiser.

Have replied to your email btw - hope this one arrives.
