Split skin inside my bum crack

Newladyeveryday · 10/03/2023 19:27

I had some pain around my buttocks for last few days and I couldn’t work out where it is coming from.
I checked in the mirror and noticed that the skin inside my bum crack is split, it has a deep red ridge in there, like a bit of skin it missing.
This gives me excruciating pain when sitting down or immediately when standing up after sitting down.
I tried Sudacream, Fucidin H .
None of them are helping.
There is not any cyst or bump or abscess- only a cracked split skin.
I managed to take picture in a mirror, I don’t want to post it here as tmi, probably would get banned.
Anyone can advice what to do. Thankyou.

I tried to call drs if maybe a nurse could see me, was on the hold for 33 mins and it cut me off, now it’s just engaged, but sure all appointments would be gone .
I hurts so much, a school run was a painful hell, I couldn’t even sit properly in the car.
I think it’s getting worse, feeling
like running a fever, chills all over since yesterday, feeling sick and so sore and tired..

If you're feeling more unwell then you do need to be seen. Our surgery releases more appointments/space on the GP phone triage list after lunch, maybe you're does too?
Or just keep trying. And be honest and open with the receptionist when you get through.

*Yours does. Curse lack of edit facility.

Newladyeveryday · 13/03/2023 09:48

@SpottyLip I just went to my local pharmacy and showed them the photo from yesterday, the pharmacist seemed a bit shocked, said I need to see dr about it asap as nothing over counter will work. I’m now trying 111 but on the hold and have to go work in one hr.

do you sit down at work
?
can you go off sick as you need to sort out your health

Newladyeveryday · 13/03/2023 11:20

@Crumpetdisappointment im actually walking/ standing at work, not sitting so that’s good. I was ringing to 111 was on hold to even get through for more than 80 mins but didn’t get through.
I have to try gp tomorrow morning.

It will take some time to heal
The skin is thin there so something as simple as sitting/skin being a bit damp causes it to tear
I would say it happens to me maybe every couple of months. Less since I started washing with hydromol and using it to moisturise
It's just not an area you think to keep moisturising!

Newladyeveryday · 13/03/2023 13:48

@Rebel2 i never had it before.
Do you then regularly get these cracks in there? Like on the photo I posted above?
When I showed it to the pharmacist he looked like he is in a shock and never had seen it before.

I think if you're feeling unwell and showing symptoms of an infection you should maybe head to a walk in if you can't get through to anyone

Husband gets this when he goes on the rowing machine from the friction/sweat - I always know as the yowl of pain when he is in the shower and the water hits it alert me. I'd say let the air get to it if you can (no underwear) Dry thoroughly and then vaseline to create a barrier until it heals followed by including that bit of you when you moisturise. If it is friction and you can identify the source then you can get a kind of vaseline in a stick that athletes use.

Newladyeveryday · 13/03/2023 14:06

@Rebel2 thank you.
How long it took to heal and what exactly you used?
Also we’re you in lots of pain?
I can’t even bend down, my whole bum hurts.
I think it is Moisture leison from where I didn’t dry properly after showers.
I finished my work and at the moment I’m lying on my stomach with naked bum to get an air and a bit of Metanium ointment to see if that would make any quicker healing.

Rebel2 · 13/03/2023 14:12

Yeah it hurts, takes about a week ti heal and I just use loads of hydromol to wash and moisturise it

CottonSock · 13/03/2023 18:37

Yellow metanium cream has magic healing powers. I swear by it.

Newladyeveryday · 14/03/2023 10:47

Update.
managed to get nurses appointment this morning.
Shesaid it looks very sore and gave me some steroid/ fungal/ antibiotics cream, which I will pick up after work.
Will update later.

Glad you’ve been seen to and really hope the meds help soon!

Newladyeveryday · 19/03/2023 14:39

Update,
so I thought I would update.
The cream I got from the nurse on Tuesday was Trimovate, which contains steroids and antifungal and antibiotics.
The first two days I felt no difference, was crying in pain and it was only on Thursday afternoon when I noticed slight differences in the pain, the shooting pain slowly got better and now it’s almost gone, though I still get some pain especially in the morning upon walking up - it definitely improved.

So glad it's healing up at last.
I had years of anal fissures which were pretty grim. Smpathy from me.

Daz57 · 19/03/2023 14:45

Poor you. I had a similar problem and it was agony. I eventually saw my GP who gave me some cream which helped (Sheriproct)? The other thing which helped so much was using Contiplan cleansing cloths instead of toilet paper. So much gentler and all healed now. Good luck.

Purplepeoniesdroppingpetals · 19/03/2023 14:49

Get yourself to your gp is my advice, which I wish I’d taken for the folliculitis under my arms (similar warm place with difficult healing conditions) as I ended up with a horrible staph infection and it’s been very hard to manage. Salt baths will only help so far was my gp’s wry comment.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 19/03/2023 14:49

Just thought I'd chip in. So glad you are starting to see an improvement.

A few years ago I had an abscess right where the sun don't shine... and OMG the pain was unbelievable. I ended up in hospital on morphine for 3 days until they could lance it. So I totally sympathise!

I also had to use a 'doughnut' cushion when I was driving or sitting down for a couple of weeks afterwards (had to have it repacked and redressed everyday). Might be worth ordering one?

The weird thing was, I was so grateful to receive some help I wasn't even embarrassed when I realised about a total of 15 people had looked at my arse over the hospital stay.

Keep on with the cream and don't hesitate to ask for help if it gets worse again. Good luck!

Purplepeoniesdroppingpetals · 19/03/2023 14:50

Just read your update and now want some trimovate - glad that you’re healing.

HonestSnake · 03/05/2025 19:23

So sorry to comment on an old thread, but I’m experiencing this right now and would love to know how you healed in the end?

Whattodowiththesewindows · 03/05/2025 19:56

@HonestSnake OP said that she managed to get nurses appointment this morning.
Shesaid it looks very sore and gave me some steroid/ fungal/ antibiotics cream, which I will pick up after work
and that's what worked .
