TMI bum issues!

YesQueen · 10/05/2019 17:02

I noticed some soreness so I went to the GO (not my usual one) who said they couldn't really see anything and t could be a pile

Anyway after much contorting, I've found it's an actual split in the skin of my bum crack?! So if you imagine when you sit and your bum spreads, it's like the skin has torn/pressure sore type. Pretty painful and keeps bleeding every so often

Any ideas? I've been putting antiseptic cream on but not sure if it's better drying up?

Google anal fissure - make sure you're making your stools soft and don't rub it with toilet paper - wash to keep clean. If this doesn't help go to the doctor!

YesQueen · 10/05/2019 17:07

I had a look at fissures but it's not my actual bum Blush it's about an inch above so nowhere near where I'm wiping Confused

Could be fungal maybe?

Really it sounds as if you need someone to have a look at it for you.

Dyrne · 10/05/2019 17:15

I get this every so often - I think it’s from where I sweat and the ‘crack’ has rubbed and it has irritated the skin. I make sure I keep the area dry (even going so far as to ‘wipe’ the area - stings but it seems to do the trick, it usually heals up after a few days.

Dyrne · 10/05/2019 17:15

Would be interested if anyone has a more formal diagnosis though!

YesQueen · 10/05/2019 17:16

@gamerchick maybe. From when I was a carer it's v similar to a pressure sore type or where the skin has literally ripped. I went on Sunday but I can't get into my own doctors (they open 9-5) so will have to go back to the same doctor that said he couldn't see anything Blush
I can see it in the mirror, it's red, split and bleeding

gamerchick · 10/05/2019 17:19

Definitely go back, he can't deny not seeing it now if you can in a mirror. I don't really want to suggest much if it's bleeding. It really needs a medical eye cast over it.

YesQueen · 10/05/2019 17:19

Also the cat walked in when I was doing bizarre yoga in front of the mirror, did a WTF HOOMAN face and stalked out in disgust BlushSmile

I guess my other option is I could try and get in with the nurse? They're usually a lot less booked up

Ouch! Because my GP is completely useless, I tend to self diagnose and medicate a lot, after going to the GP in the first place just for confirmation of how it looks, I use Hibiscrub to keep clean because it’s in that sort of area lol and then a hydrocortisone cream which you can buy over the counter. I had the same thing a few times, especially in hot weather and this is the only thing that sorted it.

Zakana · 10/05/2019 17:40

Mine is definitely fungal BTW.

Sounds about right Grin

Years ago I had something called a pilonidal sinus - an abscess about an inch below my coccyx which opened up on the skin and started bleeding. My GP sent me to A and E and I was admitted that day to have it drained (under general anaesthetic), they were worried about infection spreading and had to stay overnight for IV antibiotics. Very small procedure but it was done late in the day so needed an overnight stay. Since it is the weekend it might be worth phoning NHS 24 for advice? I'm sorry but I cant remember if I had any other symptoms at the time that meant it had to be dealt with so quickly. I hope you heal up quickly, sore bits on the bum are not fun!

smurfy2015 · 10/05/2019 19:49

As a pp has said, it sounds like pidonal sinus.

I have a recurring cyst that flares up usually a couple of times a year. It's a real PITA literally

Is it approx the area shown on the image?

Yeah about there but no abscess, it's like skin - thin long tear - skin Confused
Seemed to heal and then rip back open, like you've put your hands flat on skin and pulled it apart?
No stranger to abscesses, I have Hidradenitis supprativa plus I'm neutropenic!

When I had the pilonidal sinus it was under the skin, you couldn't see it. It just looked like an opening in the skin which bled if pressure was applied e.g. by doing a poo (tmi!). Apologies if you already know it doesnt feel like an abscess. Hope you get it sorted soon!

picklemepopcorn · 11/05/2019 09:03

I get splits there, it's just a very thin bit of the skin. It will heal up, but you need to be really gentle with it. Try alternately drying it with a hair dryer, and moisturising it with an antiseptic cream.

ragmayo · 11/05/2019 09:17

Sounds similar to a moisture lesion

YesQueen · 11/05/2019 14:49

Managed to crop a photo, none of it is my actual bum Grin just the skin

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 11/05/2019 14:50

Yes, try and keep it dry but also use antiseptic cream. It will heal. Then you need to keep it dry- talc or a hair dryer.

What did it end up being and how did you treat it
