Split skin inside my bum crack

I had some pain around my buttocks for last few days and I couldn’t work out where it is coming from.
I checked in the mirror and noticed that the skin inside my bum crack is split, it has a deep red ridge in there, like a bit of skin it missing.
This gives me excruciating pain when sitting down or immediately when standing up after sitting down.
I tried Sudacream, Fucidin H .
None of them are helping.
There is not any cyst or bump or abscess- only a cracked split skin.
I managed to take picture in a mirror, I don’t want to post it here as tmi, probably would get banned.
Anyone can advice what to do. Thankyou.

I would try an athletes foot cream.

I would get a GP appt or go to your local walk-in. You must be very vulnerable to infection there.

I second athletes foot cream as it sounds like a fungal infection.

I would bath in Salt water - try to do that (though it will sting) it may help to dry the area and with healing

Do you mean in between your cheeks or the bit above that is a deep crease? I've had similar there before an talc to dry it out has helped me quickly

I had this years ago. Fucidin was the only thing that worked, but I see you've tried that. But, are you getting the wound totally dry before applying? Its difficult with a weeping open sore, but its the only way, so pack with absorbent soft cloth like a cotton hankie, get your Fucidin ready on a finger, whip the cloth out and straight on with the Fucidin.

You need a barrier cream such as cavalon. Medi honey is good for healing as well. Might be worth a trip to the gp though because depending how bad it is it might need packing or dressing

May need antibiotics. I would see a G.P. In the meantime I’d have a salt water like warm bath and some e45/Suso cream and let the area breathe.

@googledidnthelp it’s inside the cheeks, about 3/4 way up, not on the top of them.

I'd say that's where you haven't dried properly after a shower. My option would be try talc I bet it feels better by morning

I had this a few years back it was horrible. Really itchy at night and felt awful and the weird bum crack ridge.

A zombie thread on here with a comment by a GP saved me - she said to use a mixture of three things - hydrocortisone ointment which is vv hard to find (cream is easier to find), Epaderm ointment plus Dermol 500 morning and night. It moisturises and gets rid of the bacteria. Also dry well after showering, gentle drying with a hairdryer can work.

Hope that helps, it’s not nice.

I’ve had this after the great north run when it was really hot and took hours to get back for a shower. It was so sore but I cleared it up with athletes foot cream in about 2 days.

I get that from acidic poo with my IBS. Germolene or athletes foot cream usually clears it in a day or two. Not something to worry the Dr with in my opinion

I get this and use an athlete's foot cream. Fixes it in no time!

Remember to dry properly in that area after a shower, that will help prevent it recurring.

Thanks everyone, I have Savlon creme here, do you think that would work? My local pharmacy is shut tomorrow and I don’t want to drive anywhere as in pain when sitting in the car too.

Germaline everytime. Far TMI, but when my bum Frank gets sweaty it gets really sore, red and cracked and it clears it right up .

Canesten/ miconazole cream for vaginal thrush or athletes foot. It is likely fungal from not drying properly after showering/ sweating from exercise, or you might have a vaginal thrush infection brewing too.

I’ve had this. I agree, it’s so painful (and scary! Like - will I tear in two?!)

Bath with some Epsom salts and then dry off VERY gently. Don’t force the split any further but you also don’t want any moisture left there. Then smear a load of sudocreme in there. Loose, cotton PJs or a nightie in bed. For me; that did the trick and it got better quite quick.

If there are signs of infection though, report via 111 as you may need antibio cream or tablets

I get this. What solved it is hydromol ointment to wash the area. Dry thoroughly but gently then slather more hydromol on
