Dedicated Swallower of Passion (Fruit) - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm okay thanks Tatties. Tired, but I think that's just winter. It seems hard work this year. How are you?

TooTicky · 03/02/2008 22:17

What would you suggest? I am not good at punishments.

pinkspottywellies · 03/02/2008 22:17

TooTicky · 03/02/2008 22:21

Erm, okay everybody-who-has-upset-and-worried-Franny (which is NOT a good idea in her condition) you must make amends by apologising to the Great Goat Spirit and Franny. In rhyme.
You have until 3 o'clock tomorrow.
Dismiss.
Unless you want to stay and talk to me.

Oh, goodnight Avi.

Tatties · 03/02/2008 23:15

TooT it is hard work for some reason. I normally like autumn and winter but it is getting to me this year and I am longing for some brighter weather

OverRated · 04/02/2008 00:11

Oh dear, you poor DS Franny. Imagine expecting him to wear a short sleeved shirt Sounds like the sort of thing I my DS might do .

@ wondering if Shrove Tuesday was on Wednesday. Obviously I meant Tuesday. Obviously

Hmm, I wondered if blueberries would be cheaper over here but it sounds like they are about the same.

The bipolar/ Pete Doherty thing was interesting but I couldn't bring myself to post. I do think if people haven't experienced serious mental illness it is easy for them to jump to conclusions and make judgments without really understanding. Anyone who has been diagnosed with something like bipolar knows it isn't fun or cool and is unlikely to be done for attention. I know when you are depressed you will reach for anything that makes you feel just a tiny bit better and it can easily end up in a vicious cycle of needing to feel better but the thing that makes you feel that way is destructive in itself. I am rambling now. I may as well have posted on the PD thread...

pmsl @ Zippi's dgs not needing a wee. Fab story!

Do I have to apologise to Franny and the Great Goat Spirit? I don't think I was involved in any goat stories or filth. Honest!

BBBee · 04/02/2008 00:20

yes oh i don;t know what happened earlier. You are all in bed now I guess.

I am going down to one coffee tomorrow and then kaput. does that sound good?

hello wheely bug. You are a bug and I am a bee so we must be friends - I insist!

ZippiBabes · 04/02/2008 00:31

i shouldn't post on bipolar threads either because i always feel there is an undercurrent of argument and i end up feeling very down and anxious after and exposed..specially if someone is offended or something or tells me i am wrong

which i probably am...i just have this pathetic idea that i can explain but really i'm not explaining anything just giving my own opinion which is only that really i have absolutely no idea what goes on in other peoples brains at all..i can not work out my own much less try and convey an idea about it to someone else and why would they want to know anyway

OverRated · 04/02/2008 00:36

Good luck with the cutting down on coffee. I probably should too.

OverRated · 04/02/2008 01:04

That's why I don't post on those types of threads, zippi. It always unsettles me and I hate feeling like I am trying to convince someone who (thankfully) just doesn't 'get it'.

Hope you're ok. You're up late.

ZippiBabes · 04/02/2008 01:07

I am writing about soil

it unsettles me too.. i go into questioning mode and do my own head in and wonder why..but it makes me sad that the people who i seem to be most at odds with seem to be people who have had relations who are bipolar

anyway i have dragged that stuff onto here now sorry

once i have written this thing i shouldnt be up late again this week and i have my nice wekend to look forward to next week

ZippiBabes · 04/02/2008 01:08

very nice weekend i hope

OverRated · 04/02/2008 01:18

Well, I'm glad you have a nice weekend to look forward too.

I remember late nights writing about soil! It seems a long time ago now. I wish I hadn't had a fit of madness and thrown out all my notes. Not that they'd be very useful but it might be nice to have them.

Good luck with your essay.

IdrisTheDragon · 04/02/2008 08:16

Hello .

The sun is shining over Central London .

I am eating melon .

FrannyandZooey · 04/02/2008 08:31

Morning, ditto sun here and ditto melon. Also banana, pear, raisins.

Zippi i am sorry I hashed it all up again on here then, I was just interested and to my mind you do explain well or at least give me a different insight or perspective. I didn't know it made you feel anxious though, sorry. I think FWIW relatives of people with mental illness or for instance, addiction, are often less tolerant than people who have only theoretical knowledge. If the particular illness has affected your own quality of life then you are more likely to have resentments and biases about it, I think. Harsh but true.

I don't think anyone is going to own up about the goat, TooT.

oh I have non stop Kinks in my head, thanks to our title, and I wondered if we could use

"We are the spinach, greens, melon, raisin society. God bless strawberries, yams, and all the different varieties."

at some point
