Dedicated Swallower of Passion (Fruit) - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Have now read rest of thread.

Need to do some work....

IdrisTheDragon · 04/02/2008 08:45

I find the alcohol/depression link interesting - am off alcohol again as body doesn't seem interested.

FrannyandZooey · 04/02/2008 08:50

I have not had a day's depression since I stopped drinking - had down days obviously but nothing clinical - it seems so obvious that it will help, when you think about it - alcohol is a depressant, yet we take it to make ourselves feel better

Drinking definitely affects my mood... I have seriously cut down (not given up entirely though ) as every year over Christmas/NY I drink every night - not always to excess but say at least half a bottle of wine a night. I really don't know why - I am still at work so no holiday mode - Christmas being the season to be pissed jolly seems a good excuse. Then I get a massive comedown and it becomes hard to stop doing it. Then I realise that if I don't stop it will turn into a problem so I cut down. Mood plummets. Then picks up again and I feel sooooo much better. Then I go on holiday or it is Christmas again or whatever and I know I'm going to do it again.

I went off it completely whilst pg though.

Every evening I fancy a drink but I know I will feel like shit the next day (more than a physical hangover).

TigerFeet · 04/02/2008 09:29

(fruity porridge for breakfast yum and a couple of clementines)

ZippiBabes · 04/02/2008 09:36

i haven't gone to college i had oats and raspoberries

i had to go strsaight from the shower to the car cos it was parked outside in the disabled bay so it had to be moved at 9 and by the time i had done that i thought i cant be arsed to go to my first lecture as my hair is going to take at least ten minutes to dry and i hadnt had breakfast

fullmoonfiend · 04/02/2008 10:30

Franny I am swooning with joy at your kinks title as I have been playing that bloody song all weekend (as part of my pash for jam and jerusalem and fairy hippy weddings and Kate Rusby IFSWIM)

You are a genius. I love you,

MissCreant · 04/02/2008 11:11

I was just reading the thread whilst feeding before his nap and he bit me so hard I screamed and now there is a dark purple tooth indent on my nipple. I literally have tears steaming down my face, none of mine have ever bitten me like this, he wouldn't let go his jaw was clamped and as I tried to force it open he bit harder. It is quite excruciating and the bizarre thigs is he stayed asleep the whole time. I put him in his cot and I did not feel entirely loving I can tell you. It's bruising already and iss still throbbing like mad. Ow, bloody ow.

No fruit yet, vegi sushi for lunch.

fullmoonfiend · 04/02/2008 11:40

Yikes!! (I was fortunate with ds1, he grew no teeth til he was almost 2...!)

did he draw blood? How very very painful.

MissCreant · 04/02/2008 11:52

no blood thank god, though I am amazed by that. The dent was so deep and purple I couldn't believe it wouldn't start bleeding. I really would have worried about getting mastitis again then. I am about due for another bout of it unless I have finally broken the cycle.

FrannyandZooey · 04/02/2008 12:13

Ah shit MrsC that is dreadful
if it ever happens again they say you should pull them very firmly TOWARDS you so that their nose is covered by breast, then they have to release their mouth

I am wincing for you - bloody awful - you have had an appalling time with your poor norks

FMF I don't really know any of that stuff but I really like the Kinks song. Shall we see if the others will let us have it for the title next week?

Tiger Feet it is so hard to get out of the cycle isn't it? Even if you know it isn't doing you much good. I do envy people who can have a few drinks and enjoy it and then stop, and feel fine, and not miserable.

friends coming for lunch annnnnnny minute now

lullabyloo · 04/02/2008 12:15

Oh Mrs C....I am wincing for you..owwwwwwwwwwwwwww

blackberries, lychees, pomegranate, apple salad so far & copious concoctions of wooden fruit & veg made lovingly by ds.
Still no nursery as he is still decidedly poorly

I have had an answer to my application for his school this morning, they have asked me to bring birth certificate, proof of residence & his medical card.I have not got a medical card for him,do I just ring the docs & request one?

My new recycling bins came from Heals this morning & very pleasing they are too

lullabyloo · 04/02/2008 12:17

I think it is a fabulous title franny...I heart the kinks

fullmoonfiend · 04/02/2008 12:18

ah sorry, I forgot you were TV-free!
(A fantastic version of that song is performed by Kate Rusby as the soundtrack to a tv series called Jam and Jerusalem which had the most gorgeous series finale on friday involving a hippy wedding by a stream with fairy wings which had dh and I in tears )

And as a result we have been singing that song all weekend....even up to a minute before you posted that thread title dh and I were still punching each other and saying ''STOP singing that fecking SONG!!''

lullabyloo · 04/02/2008 12:20

I have just seen a poster called zzooey franny

fullmoonfiend · 04/02/2008 12:22

?? Where? That's a bit cheeky, non?

MissCreant · 04/02/2008 12:47

did you mean, zooey, Franny, ie you were telling franny or are they called 'zooey franny'?

MissCreant · 04/02/2008 13:00

aha

fullmoonfiend · 04/02/2008 13:07

ahhhh!

IdrisTheDragon · 04/02/2008 14:00

I saw some of the chocolate called booja booja or whatever it is called. I didn't buy any.

feelign proud of my self-restraint there.

fullmoonfiend · 04/02/2008 15:41

I'm such a pig. fter OD-ing on blueberries yesterday, today I am working my way through a pound of lychees.

TigerFeet · 04/02/2008 15:45

I bought some lychees the other day and they went mouldy overnight before I had chance to eat them. I hereby declare them cunting a disappointment.

Melon, blueberries and kiwi with Greek Yogurt for lunch. Lentil soup for later.

What's booja booja chocolate? Am intrigued.

fullmoonfiend · 04/02/2008 15:47

oh i had lentil qand carrot soup for lunch!

the trick with lychees is to eat them all NOW (thus preventing me from feeling too alone in my gluttony...)
