Dedicated Swallower of Passion (Fruit) - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooTicky · 06/02/2008 22:46

What on earth are they like? Oh, I suppose they're not vegan.

TooTicky · 06/02/2008 22:47

Ach, no. I have searched and there is butter.

lullabyloo · 06/02/2008 22:49

sorry Toot

TooTicky · 06/02/2008 22:51

Actually, their site seems rather unhelpful. I can't find ingredients lists. Perhaps that's a good thing - I can't afford fancy chocolate

lullabyloo · 06/02/2008 22:52

it was a present
because I am somewhat grumpy

TooTicky · 06/02/2008 22:55

Oh heck, it seems only one item is fair trade! I can't get the child slavery thing out of my head atm.

I'm sorry you are grumpy. Does sunshine help?

BBBee · 06/02/2008 23:56

WHY OH WHY DO I ALWAYS MISS 100!

FrannyandZooey · 07/02/2008 08:08

we were sound asleep and dreaming of vegetables Bee

I have had melon, grapes, raisins, apple, banana

our new fruit box delivery came yesterday and ds said "Oh DEAR Mummy, a MANGO "
I think I am giving him all sorts of ishoos

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 07/02/2008 13:13

@ mango ishoos. I struggle with loofah ishoos which I try and hide from dd but never thought of fruit ishoos. She already refuses to eat kiwifruit

I feel I am missing out on most of the 10/10 fun as you guys all chat whilst I sleep or work My job so interferes with my MNing and other parts of my life, 'tis shite.

Anyhoooo...

I am being a good vegger now. I need to shift some weight and have been going to weightwatchers - and gained last week. That's me off the choccy and wine for a week or two. Hey Ho.

So, today (not all eaten yet I hasten to add!), porridge with dried fruit (Dorset Cereals one, extremely very lovely and nice)
2 apples
2 pears & 3 kiwifruit all chopped up with greek yogurt, a smidge of honey and mixed seeds
lentil, veg & bacon soup
turkey steaks with lots and lots of steamed assorted veg
chocolate
wine
cake

OliviaMumsnet · 07/02/2008 13:14

at thread title!
And so close to Valentine's day too

TigerFeet · 07/02/2008 13:18

careful Olivia

swallowing of passion is said to be one of the ways of bringing on labour

TooTicky · 07/02/2008 14:05

Beeeeee! We all love you. It's usually me that arrives when everybody else has gone to bed
Bounties/Bountys are not ethical
The only way you can guarantee you are getting chocolate that doesn't involve child slavery is to buy fair trade. It's awful. Children are lured away from their homes with promises of riches then kept effectively imprisoned and made to work on cocoa farms.
And evil Cadbury's have actually refused to set a date for stopping using cocoa farmed using slave labour. Nestle horrid too. Anywhere that isn't fair trade.
And dd1 says dark Bounty has whey powder anyway.

TigerFeet · 07/02/2008 14:28

Our local Co-op is fab for Fair Trade choccy (and bananas)

Although I have it on good authority that Fair Trade isn't always as good as it's cracked up to be

FrannyandZooey · 07/02/2008 14:45

Ok sorry to move from Important Fair Trade discussion, to, er, tea and cake, but:

MEET UP THINGY*

I have attempted to email everyone who said they were interested but sometimes this is hard as I get mixed up with who is who. I may have made some mistakes sorry Anyway if you want to meet for tea on Feb 24th please email me

I had summer fruits with my breakfast and have had a detox tea and an apple and a kiwi and a banana and a slice of brie

I am going to go to the gym...on a kind of mind over matter mode

it is very overcast here

TigerFeet · 07/02/2008 14:53

What detox tea are you drinking? I am on Green Tea but tbh I'm not all that keen on it

overcast here too but attempting to brighten I hope/think

Have fun at the cakery

pinkspottywellies · 07/02/2008 15:30

Lullaby - what is this "dark chocolate salted liquid caramels" of which you speak? Haven't read anything else! That stopped me in my tracks.

Must go and clean. I'll be back tonight after my run!

lullabyloo · 07/02/2008 15:46

I went to visit a friend in distress at breakfast time...we had carrot cake at 8.30am...my day has gone to pot since then

lullabyloo · 07/02/2008 15:47

oh...I am informed that M&S also have a version...but I have yet to try them.
They seem to be stocking fair trade chocolate now

BBBee · 07/02/2008 16:13

I have had salted caramels from hotel chocolat and they were as orgasmic as they soound.
