For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

i mean when you say a pita..like that's a pita

doesnt anyone say this?

MrsCarrot · 18/01/2008 19:18

what do you mean, Zip, that you say pita instead of pain in the arse?

fullmoonfiend · 18/01/2008 19:18

of course there is absolutely no reason why beansprouts shuld not be consumed wut baked beans, but I think that ws the random element which reminded me f you last night as i was chucking stuff in

FK, it ended with me persuading her to take her dog for a good brisk walk while she waited for the crisis line team to open in an hour...
I know that sounds mad but she was adamant she had no-one to talk to, didn't like the samaritans, wouldn't ring gp, wouldn't present herself at A&E, didn't have a care-co-ordinator, was on a 12-month waiting list for psych etc so i listened and listened while she talked and she decided she wanted to ring the crisis line but was terrified if she stayed alone in the house she would take another overdose (she had taken one a couple of days ago apparently), so when i heard her dog barking in the background i asked about her dog etc etc and we came up with that plan. I know it sounds odd but... I really couldn't help her. She wasn't even local to us.

ZippiBabes · 18/01/2008 19:19

I asked ds this evening what he thought about when he was getting ready for sleep. Did he think about what had happened during the day? "No I think about relaxing things. Like ponies walking around, and two pussies, and six camels singing a song."

Bbbee - such vitriol

What is so strange about baked beans, sausages, toast and hp sauce with some beansprouts and courgettes on the side? Hmmm, well?

MrsCarrot · 18/01/2008 20:57

ha ha at camels

your ds is on form atm, Franny

FrannyandZooey · 18/01/2008 21:00

MrsC I think it is the beansprouts tbh

ds is corking at the moment, isn't he? I think I may well keep him.

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 18/01/2008 21:02

Oh. The beansprouts were my 10/10 afterthought, I threw them all over dcs food as well much to dd's disgust. Ds1 ate them politely with ketchup.

FrayedKnot · 18/01/2008 21:06

I've just eaten some crisps, and some green & blacks white chocolate.

I have sorely let myslef down.

DH' son (from 1st marriage) has fallen out with him big time and it's his 21st birthday on Tuesday and it's all gone norks upward. DH is writing him a letter. I don;t know if the advice I'm giving him is rubbish or not. It's very upsetting, hence presence of crisps & chocolate

FrayedKnot · 18/01/2008 21:07

at the camels though

FrannyandZooey · 18/01/2008 21:08

FK? let yourself down? eating is not a moral issue

can we help with letter or anything? I bet you are giving good advice
