For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Aviatrix - where do you live then? I haven't tackled a British train with a child but am sure it'll be ok.

Zippi - have some Marmite - it's good for skin problems.

I'm now on Ravelry but don't know what to do. If it's like facebook, I'll play for a couple of weeks and then forget all about it. Actually, I just deactivated my facebook page because I wasn't using it. I don't really 'get' it.

No F&V yet but it's only 9am

FrannyandZooey · 18/01/2008 17:27

LOL at someone asking Avi where she lives and actually expecting a sensible answer

Boco I will send it, then. Brace yourself.

Have had some salad and some hummus, am ridiculously, preposterously hungry. Have told dp I need to lie on this sofa and either eat or sleep. preferably one followed by the other, followed by some more of the first

Have just started a book called 'No Fear - living in a risk averse society'. It seems very good and probably of interest to 10 / 10 ers.

MrsC thank you for the tip off. I don't really use cunt and cunting a lot but it is so nice to have it up one's sleeve, so to speak

Fraaaanny - Toot needs a tissue

OverRated · 18/01/2008 18:38

Oh, did I commit a big faux-pas, asking Avi where she lives?

Book sounds interesting, Franny. Am worried about what you keep up your sleeves though. I think I am ready for The Document too - if I post my email address will you send it?

Peas and beans.

FrannyandZooey · 18/01/2008 18:44

OverRated you can post it here or email secretly to me at

Avi lives on Avi Island. It's 1920 there, IIRC.

YOu need to pick your time, Avi. As long as not Friday or commuter time, imo First Class will be pretty empty. I took DS on the train up to Norwich when he was 2 and the only difficult bit was crossing London. The train bit itself was absolutely fine.

I've not done brilliantly today with f&v but new veg box has come today so full steam ahead for the weekend. Veg box scheme man says he pays his apple supplier 400% more per kilo than the supermarkets do And yet the veg box works out almost exactly the same price as if you had bought the same stuff (organic) from, say, Tesco, because I worked it out. And that includes delivery.

I'm sure he doesn't earn as much as Terry Leahy though.

fullmoonfiend · 18/01/2008 18:48

MrsC, you inspired me yesterday in the most random yet tasty solo meal i have eaten since student days...
Because of absent DH and a lack of food in the house I ended up with 1 slice bacon, stir fried with mushrooms, peppers, spring onion and spinach, bunged in a tin of baked beans and served on toast. It was blardy tasty!

DH is home today so we have tomato pasta bake with salad etc. I have a headche which will not go away

FrannyandZooey · 18/01/2008 18:49

god that tesco's bit is scary

OP posts:
OverRated · 18/01/2008 18:54

at the apples and tescos.

lol @ theslaugheteredgoat email address!

I think I would like to live in 1920. Only with the internet. Am sure I'd be much happier.

I want a veg box.

MrsCarrot · 18/01/2008 18:54

[email protected] - Oh, how I laughed...

FMV - How did I inspire that meal, pray tell?

OverRated · 18/01/2008 19:00

We had baked beans with peas for lunch. Need to go shopping, obviously

OverRated · 18/01/2008 19:01

MrsCarrot, if it's not your breasts, it's your pelvic floor

fullmoonfiend · 18/01/2008 19:02

oh was it not you who had a sausagey, beany and random stuff meal with HP the other day??

ZippiBabes · 18/01/2008 19:02

how do you spell pita when something is a pita

Tatties · 18/01/2008 19:02

FMF is it a premenstrual headache? I get those ones that don't go away too. (I am back in sync with the full moon btw!)

fullmoonfiend · 18/01/2008 19:03

(and as I can pratically feel your disapproving shudders from here, I must assume it was not you and you are mortally offended...!)

MrsCarrot · 18/01/2008 19:05

yes, it was fmv, I'd forgotten, but I didn't think it was that random.

fullmoonfiend · 18/01/2008 19:06

Effusive hugs to you Tatts. No, it is an actual mentrual headache I think.
That and a very stressful day which included a tearful 40 minute phone call from someone suicidal who had been told to ring my charity by NHS direct. We couldn't help her, not at all an appropriate referral but she refused to ring samaritans or her GP or anyone else so I just, stayed on the phone with her....

MrsCarrot · 18/01/2008 19:07

Overrated - yes, what with the breasts and intimate muscular funtions thank heavens this is anonymous

fullmoonfiend · 18/01/2008 19:08

MRS C< I only meant random in that it started with bacon and ended up with whatever was left in my fridge. It is extremely rare for me to not have worked out (and drooled over and fantasised over by 2pm!) what I am cooking for supper.

MrsCarrot · 18/01/2008 19:10

really, FMV? I am new to lunchtime cooking of dinner, and indeed, I am a convert, but I find it hard to do most days.

OverRated · 18/01/2008 19:10

Oh, FMF, no wonder you have a headache. How worrying. How did the call end? Hope you feel ok about it.

Poor MrsC

Zippi, what do you mean?
