For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

well the torte sounds nice the illness sounds horrid

MrsCarrot · 28/12/2007 15:25

thanks, zippi.

torte does look nice, it came from the smokerie bizarrely. I ordered six pots of dill sauce. I love it with cold roast salmon.

Bocohohoho · 28/12/2007 15:47

Sorry about the tit MrsC, what a pain. Hope it improves soon.

Have been in bed all day with headache, sort usually associated with huge amounts of alcohol but as i've not had any alcohol for ages it isn't that. Maybe sinusitis as still have this flu, or migraine although i don't get migraines. Dp went to chemist for me and got migraleve or something like that and now i can get up, but was making me sick to move my head. God i'm a great disaster of a person atm.

Had very long discussions last night with dp when he was threatening to join mn. He was quite serious, but then I found out that it's because he feels pushed out as i spend too much time on here, so either i stop, or he joins, these are the choices. So, i'm going to cut down, and give him more general attention.

OverRated · 28/12/2007 16:08

listen to all of you with the yummy things you are eating. I just made a surprisingly good baked oatmeal (it is breakfast time here, or was). I even put raisins and cranberries in it and served it with chopped banana and apple. Yum!

Im about to brave the snow in an attempt to ward off cabin fever and get us Out Of The House. Have packed some raisins

MrsCarrot · 28/12/2007 16:10

dh gets funny about me being on here too, hasn't threatened to join yet though.

sorry about your head, sounds like your body is telling you to have a general rest from life. Also, laptop/screens make sinusitis/migraines/general head complaints worse, ime.

TooTickyDoves · 28/12/2007 17:38

Overrated, tell me about baked oatmeal please. Is it some kind of porridge?

MrsC, I am delighted. I am out of touch atm and a v. bad patient but I am evangelising heartily.

Oh dear, dd2 is just falling asleep. She is finding the days just a little too long atm and has been having awkward naps.

fullofchocolatemoonfiend · 28/12/2007 17:50

snow!

TooTickyDoves · 28/12/2007 18:05

Dd1, ds1 and ds2 are playing with fire

Bocohohoho · 28/12/2007 18:09

metaphorically or actually?

TooTickyDoves · 28/12/2007 18:14

Actually. They had candles in their stockings.

ahundredtimes · 28/12/2007 19:22

Seems a slightly unfair ultimatum from Dp Boco, but if you think he has a point then that's valid.

I've cut down a lot.

fullofchocolatemoonfiend · 28/12/2007 19:52

I need to cut down....

Bocohohoho · 28/12/2007 20:27

It's a bit unfair as it's an ultimatum and I don't respond particularly graciously to ultimatums - but after reacting badly and crossly, I did eventually see his point and have agreed that cutting down would be a good thing.

I'm off to see the Wizard tomorrow.

pinkspottywellies · 28/12/2007 20:59

Hello! Very belated happy Christmas to you all! We had a lovely lovely time and dd was lovely However, when did I become the kind of person you buy biscuits for for Christmas? We got 3 big tins (you know, the kind you buy for 'the office' or when you're having 20 people round for Christmas) and we don't really even eat biscuits! I guess I can put them in dh's packed lunch instead of baking

I have been rubbish f&v-wise but my friend and I are planning to lose weight in the new year (we can't afford slimming world so we're going to weigh-in together once a week and her birthday in March is our target to lose a stone then we can go somewhere fab for dinner!) I need you all to get on at me about food and exercise!

Hope everyone's well, haven't read the thread - is there anything I need to catch up on? I'm going to go and do a yoga video in a minute then go to bed. I feel rough. I've got a stinking cold. Must eat more fruit!

ahundredtimes · 28/12/2007 21:16

Which wizard? Rasputin or Oz?

Bocohohoho · 28/12/2007 21:36

Oh no Rasputin was too pricey, i'm seeing the Wizard of Eye, cut price bargain wizard, round the back of the industrial estate, the one who gave me some free potions to be getting along with. (oh dear, maybe it was crack?)

Half eight in the morning! These wizards get up really early on a saturday morning don't they.

Hello Pink. We got 2 tins of biscuits too. And some freaky cherry liquer chocolates. I've been eating liquer chocolates and chocolate biscuits and mince pies for lunch, and then having palpitations and the falling asleep.

Bocohohoho · 28/12/2007 21:37

That doesn't look right, that should be liqueur shouldn't it.

MrsCarrot · 28/12/2007 21:47

Toot - your dc's haven't burned down your house yet, have they?

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 28/12/2007 21:53

ooh i am going to bath for a romantic weekend tomorrow i think

MrsCarrot · 28/12/2007 21:55

lucky you! I would like to go to bath, I have only been briefly to drop a friend off after Glastonbury, I'd like to visit properly.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 28/12/2007 21:57

i have been a few times but not for a few years and never for romantic weekend lol

in fact not had many of those ever

unfortunately means i will have to clean my house so might put him off before we leave as he is passing by here first

TooTickyDoves · 28/12/2007 22:05

It looked dodgy for a bit MrsC, but we're opkay

Bath is just coffee shops and more coffee shops. We go there for children's shoes, fantasmically wonderful filled rolls at Harvest and...um...well, the rivery bits are quite pretty I suppose.

TooTickyDoves · 28/12/2007 22:06

Zip, is this with the climber?

TooTickyDoves · 28/12/2007 22:07

Oh, and there is a good park. 100x hides there and spies on people. Before stealing their diamonds, presumably.

MrsCarrot · 28/12/2007 22:12

I think it sounds romantic and I like lots of coffee shops. I would like to sit in chic cafes in nice shoes.

Are you just outside Bath, Toot? I imagine you living by a babbling brook.
