For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

About 10 miles away MrsC. No bubbling brook though, just a canal.

OverRated · 29/12/2007 01:30

Oh no, boco. I suppose the good thing about not having a DP is that I can spend as much time as I like on MN and no-one cares!
Good luck with the Wizard.

There is lots of snow now

Interesting revelation about ahundredtimes hiding in the park and stealing diamonds. How very odd, 100x

Zippi- you will report back, won't you?

Hello all

Hope you had all had a lovely Christmas. I did sadly get the lurgy, though not as bad as DH. We are both still feeling shitty though, worse luck.

Have a lovely trip to Bath Zip - it is lovely there.

I used to be on MN so much more than I am now. I cut back when I felt I was on here too much. I prefer it now I don't feel so addicted

Well I have eaten about as poorly as anone can over the festive period. I have been a disgusting, gorging monster and have now vowed to stop (honest)

and btw - which one of you thought it would be hilariously funny to sneak in one night and swap my sweet, angelic DD for a stroppy teenager in a tiny 16 month old body??

Come on...own up.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 29/12/2007 08:56

Hi all..spent thenight worrying that dgs was going to wakr up rvry timr I moved so together with all my late nights look awful

and I have to do some heavy duty house cleaningnow before my visitor arrives

i have made more of a mess this week on top of the usual mess by starting my book cull

apart from the nearly dead mistake oranges no nice fruit here and the fridge is horrible all stale left overs from christmas dinner and that sort of unappetising rubbish

shall discover later if I'm doing a tandem drive to Bath..surelynot?

tis true without a dp u can spend as much time as u like on mn but in fact i did when id d have one as i was either "working" or he was as he did nights

i must cut down cos i am wasting stupid time on here..and it is a completely daft addiction...but it would just get replaced with some other obsession and at least i've made some friends

fullofchocolatemoonfiend · 29/12/2007 11:00

Zips - I never feel this thread is the right place to ask, but after our chat in London, I often wonder how you're doing with the xdh stuff and things. (god that sounds vague!)
Am very envious of a romantic break anywhere. DH and I want to go to Robin Hood's Bay for a weekend but we are skint, skint, skint.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 29/12/2007 11:43

i am very cross at the mo my dd is not answering her fone and no sign of her oicking up dgs who was supposed to go first thing and she took my clothes to wash as my machine broke on christmas eve and i have to dry them and i want to take them away

i've got til 3 to get ready at this rate dgs will be coming too and i havent even said i have kids never mind dgs yet

probably shouldn't say too much here..but fmf he is lending me money

fullofchocolatemoonfiend · 29/12/2007 12:22

Hmm yes, let him absorb the dc bit before you announce dgs

I don't blame you for the money thing, btw. Tis the least he could do....

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 29/12/2007 12:36

he'll be iintroducing himself at this rate..i am swearing a lot inwardly

poor dgs said to me grandma you arent angry with me are u

you are angry with my mummy

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2007 13:00

Bless him! Good luck Zippi

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2007 15:09

I am about to go mad from being inside but strangely apprehensive about going out. What can we do? I want it to be something fun. Am considering ice skating at Bristol zoo but a) it is expensive and b) I fear it would be one of those days out that leaves one feeling depressed and unfulfilled. Bristol zoo is depressing anyway.
What can we dooooooo?

Grouchyoscar · 29/12/2007 15:36

Hello again

Hey being on here has already done me some good. I'm peckish and I've gone for fruit! I bypassed the tins of chocolate and the piles of bisuits and grabbed clementines and bananas!

Also done some major housework so I think humping bags of rubbish out of the cellar and taking baskets of wet washing up 2 floors can be seen as my exercise for the day

Little steps huh

fullmoonfiend · 29/12/2007 15:43

TooT, I empathise - we've been trying to go outside for 4 days and it has done nothing but rain and rain and blow a gale. Ds has a new bike but he needs to learn to ride it first...

I wanted to go skating but it is too vile (and believe me, we are a house well equipped for bad weather. )is is soo cold.

I have resorted to letting them play on the Wii for hours [bad, bad mum]

However, it has enabled me to do lots of sorting and decluttering.

Haven't been eating much of anything, let alone F&V. Though I did make a splendid game casserole yesterday.

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2007 15:45

It's actually been fine-ish today but the wind is freezing. Oh bugger, I have to go and get the washing in which means depositing my nice warm, sleepy little dd2 on the sofa.

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2007 15:47

Ds1 is learning to skateboard but BAD MUMMY forgot to buy pads. He does have a helmet though. Anyway, he is learning in the front room. In between ds2 scooting and dd1 swooshing through with wheels on her heels.

fullmoonfiend · 29/12/2007 15:49

LOL - I have had to confiscate the spacehoppers......

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2007 15:53

Space hoppers? Blimey! My lot would fight with them. Well, ds1 would.

fullmoonfiend · 29/12/2007 15:58

oh yes, well we had the sumo wrestling with space hoppers on xmas day....

It ended, predictably...

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2007 16:10

Oh, now the rain has come, with large-sounding wind and I am STILL sitting here (in my defence, dd2 is now bf).
But the washing is still out.

Grouchyoscar · 29/12/2007 16:11

Toot I know that feeling so I really sympathise with you.

I had to get out yesterday for some essentials. DH was like a bear with a boil on his bum, Narky and bickerring. I was pleased to get home TBH

Whenever I plan to do a 'family day' I end up feeling that I've got it wrong and it never works out as I imagined. Makes you think 'why bother'

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2007 16:17

Oh, dp doesn't come out with us any more. Before I could drive and before dd2 (when we could all get in the car - now 6 of us, ordinary car) days out were rare because he never wanted to go anywhere, and when he did he'd moan and MY GOD fall asleep whilst driving and then shout at me
Now, I have my driving independence and he has the perfect excuse not to come.
Now, what shell we do tomorrow? If I make plans, I will follow them through.... what is fun, not-too-expensive, suitable for ages 11, 8, 6 and 2...

littlerach · 29/12/2007 16:26

What about swimming TooTicky?

Or Brokerswood? Think it is a reasonable forecast.

It is dark lareday. Yuck.
