For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

od on't worry grouchy u just scuttle around the pint with some drivel about a surreal aspect of ur life and no one will notice hunni

yulemoonfiend · 27/12/2007 17:45

Grouchy, build up slowly mate - don't try and achieve 10 portions of F&V straightaway - you'll get the squits! And likewise with the excercise. If you are not used to excersise, there's no point in throwing yourself into it full tilt; just think ''Yes, I could walk a bit more' or 'swim/dance with the kids/do vigorous housework. That way you are more likely to achieve this long term rather than for the first 2 weeks of new year

And todAY, FOR EXAMPLE, i AM ON ZERO F&V (Unless you count the inside of a strawberry cream Roses )

I will eat a wholesome supper of veggie thai curry and do better tomorrow. And tomorrow. And tomorrow....

yulemoonfiend · 27/12/2007 17:45

Or yes, in fact, do what Zippi says

(that's Santababy. btw)

FrannyandZooey · 27/12/2007 18:38

Grouchy don't panic - it isn't going to happen overnight without you doing anything about it, unless you are already a big salad muncher

plan what you are going to have tomorrow, and try to get up to 5 portions. Do you want to tell us the type of thing you usually eat and we can fruit and vegify it a bit?

grouchy - best advice I got on here (franny I think) was to eat fruit for breakfast - if you do you get about three portions down before the day is started.

BBBee · 27/12/2007 19:00

oh franny I can;t remember why you eat the seeds - I was told to eat the seeds because of um - maybe a vitamin thing - maybe a B vitamin

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 27/12/2007 19:02

im usually good at the exercise part but all has gone to pot recently..i have got too small for my swimming cossie and got too busy for my life

but i plan to get back to gymming and swimming

and er eating

preferably f and v rather than chocolates and pints of coffee

BBBee · 27/12/2007 19:06

I might do a belly dancing class as I read it is good for your pelvic floor. I sometimes do a kind of stretching thing - and I did yoga for a while and it is kind of like that.

OH FMF - that is where I got the shoulder stand thing for curing a headache - it is good for studying too (Avi, Zippi) if you are working take a break every hour or so for a shoulder stand as blood all goes round a different way and refreshed you.

littlerach · 27/12/2007 19:27

Grouchy, they don't really eat much f&v anyway. And exercise? Never .

I am mning on my laptop [smug]. It is suppopesd to be for the family, butr pah!! DH has one for work anway, and dd1 uses the pc, and dd2 is too little. SDigh. So it is all mine!.

Do yuo know, if I had come on here on Xmas ady, I could have boasred that I actaully managed the whiole 10 portions. Nevermind.

Lovely Xmas, too many presents for the girls, asa usual, but still lovely.

Any New Years Resolutions been made?

FrayedKnot · 27/12/2007 20:27

Hello all

I've eaten way, way too much..

And it doesn;t end until Sunday as we are leaving Norfolk tomorrow and off to the inlaws

Which I am dreading as is terribly boring And expected to eat hoards of food

DS is kind of wandering around in a trance most of the time induced by way to many presents and playing with his cousins.

New Years resolution - I am going to join a gym which has lots of classes and make myslef go to them. It has yoga and pilates as well as more energetic stuff.

I am going to try and get a corporate membership discount set up.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 27/12/2007 20:47

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2007 23:11

Oh, Franny I didn't say thank you for the card. Thank you

Hello everybody! We're still snuffling here. But jolly well enjoying the lack of routine

Bocohohoho · 27/12/2007 23:15

Oh no oh dear oh no oh goodness.
Dp has just said that he intends to join mn. He read a thread about the spunky faces adn wanted to contribute, then he took a look around and said that actually it may be the only way to keep me off the computer so is planning to sign up. Oh dear. I don't want him to.

ahundredtimes · 27/12/2007 23:17

[joins arms with TooT]

We will form a barricade. Tell him to piss off.

I've just had a very pleasant MN time robbing a bank and advising someone on their move to Sweden. I know nothing about either of these things.

ahundredtimes · 27/12/2007 23:18

Let him start a thread and then tell him that's it. That's what my dh did. It got it out his system.

ahundredtimes · 27/12/2007 23:22

Obviously Boco's dp if you're reading this then you are very welcome. [smiles, shifts about awkwardly]

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2007 23:25

Who is moving to Sweden?

Oh no Boco. Does he know your username?

ahundredtimes · 27/12/2007 23:27

Do you want to go to Sweden TooT?

I am your woman for advice then.

[looks shifty, again]

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2007 23:29

I heart Sweden. Sweden is beautiful.

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2007 23:30

Hang on, were you advising on how to rob banks? If I robbed a bank, I could buy a nice little stuga.

ahundredtimes · 27/12/2007 23:31

We're after diamonds as it happens. Loads of them. And interpol are after us and I'm drinking martinis in Monte Carlo in a black poloneck.

You know, my usual stuff.

Sweden. I've never been. I'm not sure I could live there.

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2007 23:32

It is so beautiful, and so child-friendly. And there are lakes and forests and elks and things.

ahundredtimes · 27/12/2007 23:35

Elks? Goodness.

There'd be a lot of fresh air I suppose wouldn't there? And snow. Yes, beautiful. Well you go with her, she's got a job I think. You go too. She could do with the company. You could live in a log cabin by a lake TooT.

TooTickyDoves · 27/12/2007 23:40

Can I have my own boat?
