For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am crap at languges - really crap. I can remember a bit of french and my georgian consists of tea-towel, monkey, spider etc. really useless words.

I bet you can all speak fluent arabic and 12 dialects of chinese.

isn't it near brighton? you could go on a day trip there?

FrannyandZooey · 27/12/2007 09:38

we are only going for one day, amd then to my sister's

I left a lost love in Brighton, I am a little touchy about it

OP posts:
BBBee · 27/12/2007 09:39

how long are you going for?

(ignores pile of washing that needs sorting and packing)

BBBee · 27/12/2007 09:41

oh we are cross posting unless you are psychic or we have one of those time delays that they used to have on news programmes when they talked to someone in Egypt.

It is only a day so you don;t need to pack and you don;t need to escape to Brighton - anyway they only let you into brighton if your hair is a funny colour.

BBBee · 27/12/2007 09:42

zippi - I doubt you will find motivation on this thread.

(pile still behind me)

I found out on christmas eve that Ds did not have a present for me. DP doesn;t get christmas and it is one of the few things I get a little bit anal about so because DS HAS to get me a present (bonding and recognising each other and all that) I took him to bookshop (all independant and no 3 for 2 and therefore a bit empty at this time of year) and gave him £10 to get me a surprise.

He vought me 'the corrections' which everyone read when it was all popular but I didn;t.

Have you read it?

Am taking it on holiday with me.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 27/12/2007 09:50

oh i haven't heard of it or read it

but then possibly the when it was popular bit passed me by i am not exactly finger on pulse and still have that aversion to popular in favour of obscure

tho much less than formerly

FrannyandZooey · 27/12/2007 10:06

oh Bee I loved it, really loved it

my hair IS a funny colour - I have been avoiding the hairdresser for 3 months

we do need to pack; we're staying over and going to my sister's the next day

I just had pineapple, melon and a mango. I got some really good fruit in my stocking

Hello
I really enjoyed The Corrections too Bee, is good.

Brother gone now, everything in small random piles with the odd bag of paper and cardboard that i'm not allowed to throw away as dp wants to burn on the woodburner.

I got a lovely book about Edward Bawden from dp, and some pyjamas that i'm concerned are a little Pat Butcher and he thinks i hate them because i wasn't delighted enough, and I don't hate them, but i'm just not convinced. He also got me a nice wooden box for my pens.

FrannyandZooey · 27/12/2007 11:21

oh lord I was convinced that said nice wooden box for your penis

so sorry

I got a very very nice 1st edition K M Peyton which I didn't have, a book about Antonia Forest and 2 books about gardening. Plus a David Thomas Broughton cd and lots of fripperies. Oh and a S^$*&%e book from Avi

Errh, like hello

I'd like to join the 10/10 club. I joined the FLY ladies last year and housework is now a breeze so I need to pull myself into line.

Could I have some guidance please. The 10 mins exercise, is that in addition to what you usually do? I walk DS to and from school so does that count?

TIA

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 27/12/2007 12:14

Hi grouchy

nice to see you..um what we do is er a bit like what it says in the op

so weaim to eat ten fruit and veg and do exercise..maybe if you are walking to school then you could add in some more

i think we might be all pulling ourselves into line some time..but i am a babe not a boss so don't take any notice of me hun

FrannyandZooey · 27/12/2007 13:33

Welcome Grouchy

the idea is that you are doing something extra, specifically for exercise, but everyone ignores me and does what they want anyway As a whole we have been particularly rubbish about exercise over the last few months, although I am sure some people have been doing it. I would imagine if a couple of people get going they could encourage each other and by example, the rest of us?

I'm eating a pomegranate, very slowly. Just had more artichokes and sun dried tomatoes and yesterday I forgot to say I had a load of spinach salad, chickpeas and prunes last night.

i don't like the seed bit in the middle

can i spit it out?

OP posts:
BBBee · 27/12/2007 14:50

you can spit it out but it is very good for you - can you try and eat it?

FrannyandZooey · 27/12/2007 15:10

no, not now it is in the bin

why are they good for you? They are hard and unpleasant - too big to swallow whole and awfully gritty when you crunch them

Hello! Helllooo!!

(so nice to be home..)

I need to movce house - we have too many presents. And a distrewssing amount of chocolate.

I mamanged not to kill anyone.

I managed to mostly have a nice time.

My poor beautifu;l boys woke up on mxas eve with horrid barky coughs and temperatures and were rather quiet and a little forlorn for christmas but are ecstatic with their presents.

Ds bought me a pile of books (rather random selection but i shall read them anyway), my favourite scent, some beautiful chocolates, a digital photo frame (which he likes more than I do - it's a gadget!), some seeds, some saucy undies - and some incredibly funny pjs (I asked for some night attire a the boys are reaching the stage where one gtes embrassed at seeing me naked and the other makes a grab for my boobs )
They are funny because they are exactly the same as one of the ds's pjs (think flannelette, blue madras check.)

I was a bit horrified until he whispered that ds2 had chosen them . But they are snuggly, if not sexy. And at least they do not have 'cute' cartoons on

Tomorrow I must get outside.

Grouchyoscar · 27/12/2007 17:40

Bit worried I'm going to fail totally. I've only had raisins today. I've hardly eaten anything

Or done any exercise other than lots of housework. Can I combine this with my FLY endeavours?

Yeah, I've been too busy to stuff my face.

You'll have to hold my hand for a bit with this one please
